In this modern university AU, the characters from "The Dragon Prince" are students. Ezran is 19, Aanya is 20 while Callum and Rayla are 22, and Soren is 23. They're all in the same class. Rayla started later because she spent time doing psychology internships and modeling. Soren left engineering school to pursue music, and Callum took gap years due to anxiety. The story mainly follows Callum and Rayla, as I see a lot of myself in them.

So the few jelly tarts remaining were almost a day old, but they weren’t jelly tart connoisseurs like Ezran was, so they didn’t really mind. If Ezran was there, he would’ve noticed the slight stiffness, the partly dried jelly, and the hint of impending staleness, but as Callum took a bite, none of those things came to mind.
He turned the tart to Rayla so she could take a bite too. They definitely had enough jelly tarts to enjoy their own few, but they liked sharing food like this. Sharing a plate, sitting too close at dinner, always giving a piece of their meal to the other.
“Tastes great to me.” She said, taking another piece in approval.
“I can see that.” Callum laughed. He reached over to wipe a bit of jelly on her nose, turning over his thumb to show her. And she laughed too.
They packed the last few tarts into a small sack before returning to their bedroom, where they folded the bedsheet and stuffed both items into a small backpack that Callum carried.“So, where to?” Callum asked. “The roof near our window? Or do you want to leave the castle to go into the forest?”
“Hmm,” Rayla tapped a finger to her lips, “not so close but not so far. I think I might know a place.”
