Summary
Becoming a eunuch wasn't Shang Qinghua's first choice, but it was better than living on the streets. Still, he wanted to avoid the uncomfortable process if at all possible. With a few clever tricks, Shang Qinghua lied about his status as a eunuch and got himself a job in the imperial palace, with his genitals still intact. As a man who only wants to sleep with other men, it isn't hard for him to hide the truth. He would never be interested in looking at the concubines in an improper way, and all of the men in the rear palace are eunuchs themselves. So, celibacy isn't particularly difficult for Shang Qinghua.
He's of low rank, and practically everyone treats him like a useless servant with half a brain, but that is exactly how Shang Qinghua likes it. Hiding his assets is the best way to ensure he never comes under scrutiny. However, when Shang Qinghua accidentally catches the eye of the crown prince Mobei-jun, he risks having his secret exposed, and his life brought to an unfortunate end.
