Before they could even dream of being rescued, however, they had to worry about their survival skills and their own emotions, which were tearing them apart.

“You’re not getting my berri that easy,” Zeff muttered back. He adjusted the glass a bit, twisting to bring it into focus, and cursed when he too saw the bits of flotsam, shining white against the waves in the early morning sunlight.

Summary

Norway takes the emaciated Venice into his home and helps him recover. While he does so, he experiences the different culture, the foreign language, and the unusual people in this dark and cold place. Venice starts to feel more than gratitude towards Norway, but for some reason Norway is keeping him at arm's length...
