Summary
Wetting his fingers, Magnus took a deep breath and began to shape the clay, first molding it into a mound, then making a little hole in the clay with his fingers. It was looking more like a model volcano than a mug, so Magnus tried to make the walls thinner and the mouth of the cup larger. For a split second, the cup actually held its shape, then the walls collapsed inwards on themselves, too thin to support their own weight.
A heavy pit settled in the blond’s gut, a mix of bitter defeat and frustration at yet another failure. His chest felt tight, almost like a bad bout of dysphoria, but worse somehow. In a sudden burst of anger, Magnus seized the lump of clay, and with all his might, he hurled it across the room. It soared through the air and landed on the floor with a wet splat. Apart from the sound of his own heavy breathing, the room was as silent as a grave.“Jeez, what did that clay ever do to you?”
