Summary
So, Arthur decided it was time to take a different approach. He would make it clear, through action, the consequences of disobedience. A lesson had to be taught, one that would resonate far deeper than merely apologizing to a nobleman. This was about respect—about boundaries—and Arthur was resolute in this newfound conviction.
“Merlin,” he said, his voice low and commanding, slicing through the tension like a knife. His brow furrowed, eyes locking onto Merlin’s with an intensity that demanded acknowledgment. “Do you consent to what I’m about to do?”
“Yes,” Merlin muttered, his voice thick with defiance yet tinged with an unarticulated acceptance.

In which Merlin’s defiance has grown too much to ignore—his sharp tongue, his disregard for authority, his blatant insolence. Normally, Arthur tolerates his servant’s antics with little more than a grumbled protest, but tonight, Merlin has crossed a line. His stubbornness has gone too far, and Arthur is done with it.
