Stiles is at college, in his second year of study, trying to navigate being a broke student, being away from his home town, and being kicked out of his pack.
Stiles is prepared, feeling less off balance than his previous year at college, he's excited, even, ready to get through as much as possible. And, he is almost over the guilt and shame and heartbreak that came with the whole getting kicked out of his pack thing. Yes, he still has a crush on Derek, but he has had a crush on Derek since he was 16, and now at 21, he's pretty sure he can manage.
What happens when Stiles's new Folklore & Anthropology professor turns out to be Derek Hale, the one who kicked him from the pack 2 years earlier? What happens when Stiles is so utterly convinced that Derek hates him that he can't read between the lines of what the werewolf is trying to tell him?

In Metropolis Stiles tries to find himself and be in his element, along with meeting a long online friend... who looks exactly like him and works for Lex Luthor. Being more observant than some of the interns at Daily Planet, unaffected by Clark's Magic disguise glasses, and having new powers himself, he was very quick to learn Clark's secret identity. While Stiles is running with a Kryponite, his friends back home begin to realize just how vital Stiles was in their lives. They believe they can get him back with just a simple sorry... however, Stiles isn't the same as he was back in Beacon Hills.

He’d only just turned towards his bed to fall face-first onto it—fuck the lights, he’d leave them on, he did not care—when movement out of the corner of his eye caught his attention and his heart dislodged itself into his throat.
He ended up doing a weird half-turn pirouette kind of move, lost his balance, tripped over a pair of pants and landed face-first onto his bed.

I read the onshot by trulywicked called Long Way To Happy, and it fucked with my emotions heavy. I love Derek as much as the next person, but Stiles needs to take care of his mental health too, it can't just be a continual of Stiles invalidating his feelings for the peace of everyone else. This isn't finished but I wrote as much as I could just to get my frustration out because it was murdering me.

“Waste of money. They’re all con artists,” Derek warns him cynically, putting his heavy booted foot on the lowest ladder rung, despite his words. The background noise of overly jubilant fairground music makes him have to raise his voice a little for Stiles to hear him. The step groans precariously. “You said we could go straight home after the haunted house.”

Derek gives him a hard look, eyebrows raised.
“Ok. Well yeah, fair point. I mean, it’s you, so your future probably holds lots of blood, death and gore, if your present and past are anything to go by. But hey ho, you never know! Things might be looking up for you,” Stiles grins brightly at him.

(please bare with me as I update the chapters and hopefully eventually complete this work)The Hale fire and hunters rip Derek and Peter Hale away from their lives as well as their childhood best friends. (Stiles and Scott)
Derek's mother, explains to them, "I am so sorry you two but this is an emergency. There is no time for good-byes."
Derek's uncle Peter was separated from Derek when he was taken with Laura and her fiance' Liam.
All three stayed behind to manage the family businesses, the Hale territory as well as the Wolf Preserve.
The rest of the Hale family eventually moves back and Derek is finishing his junior year in High school. -
