Summary
“I don’t know why I keep coming back here,” Merlin murmurs, the words so quiet that Arthur almost misses them. “I know you’re not here, but—”
“I am,” Arthur says, knowing how pointless it is. “I am, but you should stop coming all the same. You should stop grieving me, Merlin, it’s not worth—”
“Sometimes, it almost feels as if you were. Here, I mean. Listening to me—but then, that’s a terrifying prospect because I’ve said a lot of things I didn’t mean for you to hear.”
You could tell me anything, Arthur thinks, his chest aching. You could curse my name a hundred times, and I would still want to see you.
After Arthur's death, Merlin uses the Horn of Cathbhadh to speak to him just one more time. But Arthur isn't dead; while he can hear and see Merlin, he cannot answer. For some reason, Merlin keeps coming back anyway. Until he doesn't.

Summary
Wait (waited; waits; waiting) – Allow time to pass, staying in one place until the arrival of an anticipated person or event.
“Where’s Merlin?” He asked.
The woman observed him, and he almost knew her, almost remembered the sounds of agony as her skin reshaped, almost saw those wide yellow lemons of eyes. Brown eyes now met his, human yet not mortal, more than flesh and blood. Humour might have shone there, if it were not for the deep sorrow that lay underneath.
“Here.” She answered him finally, “Merlin will always be here.”
