“Fuck off,” he grunted through a sneer, the response near knee-jerk at this point.
It might as well be. Any attempt of concern was always shot down in flames before Genya could get a chance to see too much. You’d think that if Sanemi kept on throwing down eggshells then eventually Genya would grow tired of tiptoeing around them, but the little shit was obnoxiously… genuinely concerned. Painfully persistent too, because the frost of Sanemi’s cruelty wasn’t enough to chase him from his door.
He wasn’t okay, truth be told. There was a hell of a lot wrong with him. Hell of a lot more than Genya could ever hope to handle.
But Genya was staring at him with those sweet wide eyes that always undercut the sharpness of his tongue and eased the frustration in his chest. No matter how old he got, he couldn’t shake his childlike innocence, and that in itself was another reason Sanemi didn’t want to burden him.
He wanted Genya to grow the fuck up already, and he didn’t want him to change a thing.
Fuck, he was pathetically sentimental.
But the problem of the day wasn’t quite as complex as his usual endless list of ‘fucked up’, it was just… messy.
