But perhaps their chaos can bring a breath of fresh air into his life. Maybe Virgil can leave the past behind him, learn to move on and accept his situation. Maybe Logan can find a little spark in the darkness, finding beauty in the beast. Maybe Janus can change his point of view, accept some companionship. Maybe Remus can continue being a little freak. Maybe the worst part is that Janus doesn’t really care that he knows it’s wrong. He’s all too aware of the consequences of his actions, the fact that he really shouldn’t be doing this, perusing this, acting like this. But he doesn’t care, and that’s probably what makes him a bad person.
Patton is infinitely sweet, he's a good person. Janus knows he isn't. He's barely even a human. He knows. And he doesn't care. He doesn't have the strength. Patton is solid, and warm, and real. Patton is everything Janus could never be. Maybe that's why Janus finds him so arousing. He just can't resist.
Or, Janus realises he might care. Maybe just a little bit. Maybe a lot.

There's a large box in the back of Janus's closet. Nothing out of the ordinary, simply a plain, average, cardboard box. There's a few bite marks that litters the edges of the lid, from the time Cleopatra—darling idiot snake that she was—managed to get herself into the cupboard when he was nonethewiser and fancied herself a taste.
He had rescued her, of course. And after a glance over the box, he dubbed it just fine, going right back to ignoring it as he does every day. An easy thing to do when he has it placed so conveniently out of sight.
