Summary
Mal had apologized for lying to the Vk’s about closing the barrier, and had they grown up in Aradon, that would have been enough, but they hadn’t, they were Vk’s and had grown up on the Isle. Mal is Isle, they were all Isle and everyone wronged was Isle.
Because of this, an Isle style punishment is required for forgiveness and such a punishment is given.
