"Morning sickness," the maknae raises her index finger. "Throwing up every time she eats something," she raises her middle finger, and continues listing Rumi's symptoms, raising one finger at a time. "Fatigue, drowsiness, fainting, and remember last night she smelled tacos while you were cooking rice?! She started crying because she wanted tacos! Which reminds me, mood swings. That's it, our fingers got our girlfriend pregnant!"

"You've never heard of an open mic?!" The girl says, bouncing on the spot
Rumi checks the flyer again and almost snorts out loud. Its on Friday at 11pm. As if Celine would even consider letting her out alone, especially late at night. Plus Fridays are busy; online classes, then sparring, then meditation, then free time before dinner. After dinner is dessert (if weekly chores have been completed) then they have a recap discussion of the week. If Celine is in a particularly good mood, she may allow Rumi to select a movie from the small DVD collection. Usually she chooses Spirited Away, but sometimes she chooses My Neighbour Totoro, just to mix things up.

For many years Rumi has lived a sheltered, regimented, lonely life with Celine until a chance meeting at the market opens up a whole new world for her. Will Zoey and Mira help her break free from Celine's control? Or is the Ryu line destined to end in tragedy?

Rumi took a deep breath and pushed the door open. The sounds of a busy bar greeted her, and she took a few brave steps inside. Rumi wasn't usually much of a bar-goer, finding the general ambience to be very rowdy to the point it could be overwhelming.
But one of her friends had recommended she needed to celebrate 3 years post-surgery in style, and Rumi had agreed to it.
Then said friend had a work emergency, which meant Rumi was going to be celebrating alone.
Such was the way of life.
Or: Rumi's having a night out, and is being flirted on by Zoey and Mira, who don't recognize Rumi now that she transitioned.
