It was times like these that Steve had to remind himself that they were lucky.
Lucky Eddie had gotten out of the Upside Down alive.
…Mostly alive.
Lucky they were able to be here together at all.
Okay, maybe he was being a little dramatic. It wasn’t that serious, and it’s not like those things were ever far from his thoughts anyhow. Steve thanked whatever deity controlled the universe every single day for the fact that he and Eddie had gotten their second chance, their happy ending.
But, it was hard to feel lucky when that little fucker was intent on getting on his last nerve.

A story set around the scene in Episode 3 of Series 3, when Uhtred has broken his oath to Alfred, fled North to his brother Ragnar, and is now packed into Ragnar’s hall in Dunholm, listening to the various Danish war leaders plot to march on Wessex. They’ve all just agreed that Ragnar will be their leader, and are all very drunk and pleased with themselves. The little weasel Aethelwold is also present, getting excited trying to stir things up, but ridiculously out of his depth.
