Summary
Artemis Evo knew from the beginning what her Nightmare was going to be.
She hoped she was wrong, of course—she'd rather listen to Ghaul's cold brutality, or Sagira's vicious laughter, or even Uldren's mocking cruelty any day, if it meant she didn't have to face what she knows she is about to. She almost wishes it was one of them, and for that reason alone, she knows it won't be.

Summary
The wolf bares her teeth. "You," she hisses, "are not going to hurt us. I don't know what you're planning and I don't care. We are going to help you, and you are going to give us back Osiris—unharmed, alive—and then you are going to leave. You've done enough to my City."
Your City. As if it were hers alone to keep, to defend, to claim. As if that's what this is really about to her. Her tunnel vision will be her downfall if her arrogance doesn't kill her first.
"And what," Savathûn tests, "makes you think I'm planning anything?"

Summary
Ari didn't have the heart to tell Saint that his searches are futile. He's been tearing the system apart, looking for Osiris, but Ari already knows he isn't anywhere in this realm. If he's anywhere—and he is; Savathûn needs him alive if she wants to bargain for him, so Ari has to believe he's alive—it's going to be in the Ascendant Realm. Savathûn's Throne World. Ari doesn't know much about how the Hive worlds operate, or the Ascendant Plane in general—and she doesn't know if what she's going to try will even work.
But she does know her Light. And she knows Osiris. If he's not in this realm, she'll find him in another.

Summary
Artemis is no stranger to the allure of the Void, but not everyone who reaches so far gets to come back. In the aftermath of the hunt for Uldren Sov, and the sudden lack of control she has over her Light, her power starts to change—and this time, it has a voice of its own.
(Or: The Light does funny things when you're grieving. It does worse things when you're not.)
