Summary
Finally, Loki turned, moving toward the edge of the balcony, his back to Strange. But before he could speak again, he glanced over his shoulder, his smile faint but full of meaning.
“You fear what you can’t control, Strange.” His voice was lighter now, teasing. “I wonder... how long until that fear becomes something more.”
Doctor Strange didn’t reply at once, but his pulse was racing, his mind at war with itself. Loki’s words had gotten under his skin in a way that unsettled him, more than he cared to admit.
“I don’t fear you,” Strange finally said, the words slipping out in a quieter, almost dangerous tone. “But you will test my patience.”
(After a week of trying to save the Multiverse, Loki finds some alone time away from everything and everyone until Doctor Strange arrives at his door.)
