Tim carved himself a place with the Wayne's. He bled for a chance to don a domino mask. He endured condescension, attempts on his life that were met with no reprimand, he even endured Robin - the one thing he had left - being taken and given to Damian. He went on a trip around the goddamn world just to find Bruce after he was lost in the timestream. He cried, fought, bled, underwent medical malpractice, and still found his adopted father. All to be met with no apologies for his eldest brother's threats of Arkahm, and a request for his emancipation so Bruce wouldn't have to run Wayne Enterprises.
Tim Drake-Wayne dropped the hypenation.
He was never a Wayne, and he finally realized it.

Summary
Timothy Jackson Drake was a genius.
Certifiably, he’d been tested. Twice.
He was also smart.
He had his secret hide out office, his Batman photography hobby, and a foolproof system for managing his well-meaning but often absent parents.
Everything was working exactly as planned.
Then Super Boy Prime punched a hole through reality and Jason Todd clawed his way out of his grave.
Which was good. But decidedly not Tim’s problem.
Or it wasn’t until Tim accidentally photographed a dead Robin wandering around Gotham on Halloween night.
When he couldn’t lead the zombie to Batman, he did what any logical eleven-year-old would do: he solved the puzzle, fed the zombie, and somehow ended up with an overly protective shadow who thought crossing state lines required supervision.
Rude.
Tim was starting to regret his curiosity about riddles.
Timothy Jackson Drake was a genius.
No one could disagree.
He had papers!
But smart?

Barbara was anxious-terrified!-even.
She'd done all she could to find Tim, and she had found him! (Or at least his phone.) But now all she could do was wait for a message from Dick or Bruce, or for them to return to Gotham, or for something huge and bad to happen so that she had to call them back to Gotham before they could finish looking or-.
She had to stay calm.
She had to remember that there was good in the world, and that they were definitely overdue for a dose of it.
Barbara needed to stay hopeful.
