Obi-Wan frowned down at the clunker, taking in the jagged line of paint that ran along the gunnels and the oblong shape of the seat rests. Without a second thought, he asked, “Can you take the spark array right off?”
“Haven’t tried,” Owen replied, “I don’t have much experience with these older models, but you’re welcome to have a go if you feel like crawling around in the dirt.”
The words were perfectly polite, but when Obi Wan glanced up he could see the glimmer of a challenge in Owen’s eyes. He shrugged out of his cloak, relieved that this, at least, was something he did know a bit about. “I’ve worked on a few of these old AM-Z models,” he grunted as he lay on his back, wiggling himself under the speeder, “I’ll see what there is to see.”
He saw dirt. A lot of dirt. Perhaps decades of the stuff, mixed with thruster oil and caked to the speeder’s undercarriage like bantha shit on a stick. He held a hand out to the boys. “Chisel, please.”

Every time when they returned from the watch, Skeen gave Cassian a crooked little smile and asked if his ears still worked or if they fell off from Nemik’s endless talking. “Everyone else has already gotten tired of it. He’s been sitting on his stupid theories for a month, I thought he was going to explode soon.”
Cassian was sure that Skeen is exaggerating a little. He had seen others - even him - sitting with Nemik as he talked and talked and talked, eyes shining as he explained his newest theory. Well, he’s seen Vel doze off during one, but she spent the previous night hunting the escaped dray and was barely keeping her eyes open. And while the details sometimes went over Cassian’s head, it was nice to just listen to him as they walked.

"You're only saying that because you spent your last ruble on the theatre and don't want to lose out, comrade." Jyn pulled on her coat. The patches on the elbows were wearing through, she'd have to repair them again. Bodhi pushed up his glasses, frowning as Jyn took her time packing up her bag.
"Well if you carry on with that attitude then we'll never find the Crown Prince."
"I don't need a Crown Prince!" Jyn cried, throwing up her hands as they left the theatre behind, "I just need someone to pretend to be him for a few days, that's all."
"I'd settle for a few hours," Bodhi muttered. Their breath frosted in the cold night air and snow crunched beneath their feet as they made their way down the frozen streets of St. Petersburg.
