Kirk smiles lightly. “I bet it must feel nice then, going to visit your family. You get to put your hair down, relax a bit.”
“Vulcans do not feel anything, Captain.” Spock replies.
He is wrong in other ways. She does not correct them.
OR:
Spock has spent her entire life with a physical reminder that she will never be accepted. The Enterprise changes some things.

Oh my god. That might be one of my favorite things I’ve read in a GOOD while. AAAAAAA
The relationship between Spock and McCoy????? Perfection I need more of it. It has an arc!! They both grow and acknowledge hurtful things but recognize they value their relationship more! (That’s way too oversimplified but ah well). It’s platonic and actually goes in depth into that relationship!!!! This fic is amazing. Please reread. Found family galore.This line did make me cry:
Her relationships with her past classmates were never like this. Perhaps, Spock thinks, they were not relationships at all.
And the whole ending especially the last scene between Spock and McCoy was beautiful and heart wrenching and AAAAAAA. I love.Omg wait ALSO THE NICKNAME???? AAAAAA I love it all!!
