“I don't want you feeling that you're a burden on me,” John whispered, taking Sherlock's chin and tilting it so that they could have more eye contact, “Never. I do this because I want to do this. Because I like to take care of you and make you feel better. I don't resent it, I don't think badly of you.” Sherlock looked as though he was about to argue a retort, brow crumpled and mouth parting, but John quickly quietened him by pressing his fingers over Sherlock's lips. They were badly chapped from hours of silent sobbing and gnawing, skin pinched in order to muffle. “And I'm sometimes stunned that someone like you would want to be around someone like me. Boring, dull, jumper-clad John. I'm like the moon compared to your sun. You're fire and dazzling, the source of everything. I'm boring and dependable.”
