Abed looks over Troy’s shoulder at the myriad of colours in Annie’s gel polish collection: Flamingo Pink, Summer Hot Pink, Purple Pride, Pinky Kinky, Butternut Squash, Havin Cabbler; it isn’t until Abed reaches the seventeenth pink tone that they realise Annie’s polishes are organised by hue and saturation. Of course, they think.
Moving down the line, Abed comes across Island Oasis. “What about this one?” they ask, scooting away from Troy and holding up the bottle for him and Annie to see.
“Ooh,” Annie exclaims, bouncing up and down in her seat, “the saturation goes perfect with the undertone of your skin!” Troy and Abed exchange a look, but Annie doesn’t bother dumbing it down for them (sometimes she does, sometimes she doesn’t; it’s hit or miss, really).
“I’ll take your word,” Abed smiles. They keep the bottle close to them, tossing it between their hands and rubbing their thumb against the various textures.
It is Troy’s turn to scour through the colours now, and he lands on a bright purple that borders the line of being considered a neon. He flashes the bottle to Abed for approval who shoots him a thumbs up.
“Your turn, Annie,” Troy says. He scoots the case towards Annie who wiggles on the couch. They both expect her to contemplate her options for twenty minutes too long, but instead, she grabs the first colour she sees.
“I’m trying to be more loosey-goosey. Britta taught me about it.”
“That makes sense—”
“Yeah, it adds up—”
