Cale looked out into the midday sun, slightly wincing as the sun's bright rays burned his eyes. He suddenly felt like singing and ran through the countless songs in his head. 'Hmm, maybe this one will do.' Cale cleared his throat and opened his mouth. 'It should be fine since everyone else is out on errands.' Unknown to Cale, his family had returned early so they could surprise him. Raon excitedly flew in front of the group, eager to see his weak human. Choi Han was enthusiastically chatting with Rosalyn and Lock while the rest were silently walking toward the balcony Cale was standing on.
"Legends never die, when the world is calling you
Can you hear them screaming out your name
Legends never die
Everyone looked around in surprise when they heard a voice they recognised singing in a soft voice, sounding like a siren luring them to a watery grave. They glanced up and recognised the unmistakable wine red hair of their human. Raon gasped in surprise and hurriedly turned on his communication device, connecting it to the crown prince.
Alberu sighed as his head pounded while an official whose name he didn't even bother to remember blabbered on incessantly. This was why he hated politics. How did his dongsaeng relax without even trying anyway? Speaking of the devil, his communication device turned on with an alert. Raon was contacting him. Alberu promptly took it out, not paying any mind to the other nobles' exclamations of anger at being interrupted. His eyes widened. 'Is my dongsaeng singing? I've never heard this song before. Is he referring to himself?'
They become a part of you
Every time you bleed for reaching greatness
Relentless you survive
Eruhaben furrowed his eyebrows upon listening to a particular part of the song. Cale had coughed up blood countless times and made everyone worried about him. That unlucky bastard. He shed blood just to be a hero.
They never lose hope when everything's cold and the fighting's near
It's deep in their bones, they run into smoke when the fire is fierce
Oh pick yourself up 'cause legends never die
Cale sang with all his heart and soul, remembering how his team leader and Choi Jung Soo had sacrificed themselves for him. Tears pricked at the corner of his eyes. He smiled bitterly. When this war with the white radish was over, he would learn how to farm for them.
When the world is calling you
Can you hear them screaming out your name?
Legends never die
They become a part of you
Ron smiled benignly. His puppy young master was quite interesting. Beacrox merely gazed at Cale leaning on the balcony, ruminating in his thoughts. On and Hong happily meowed, delighted to hear their dad singing.
Every time you bleed for reaching greatness
Legends never die
They're written down in eternity
But you'll never see the price it costs
Cale gulped as he remembered what the World Tree had told him. He had to stab himself in the heart with the World Tree's root first before he was able to use it to kill the White Star. His companions would certainly have a heart attack themselves if they saw, so he had to do it quickly and discreetly.
The scars collected all their lives
Cale grinned at the irony of the lyrics. In his previous life as Kim Rok Soo, he had many ugly scars all over his arms and had resorted to wearing long-sleeved shirts to cover up the sight of them. For once, his normally chatty ancient powers were silent.
When everything's lost
They pick up their hearts and avenge defeat
Before it all starts, they suffer through harm just to touch a dream
Oh, pick yourself up 'cause legends never die
Alberu contemplated the thought that all of the Dark Elves could possibly return to humankind. Maybe they would be accepted one day amongst people. Or perhaps it was all a foolish hope.
When the world is calling you
Can you hear them screaming out your name
Legends never die, they become a part of you
Every time you bleed for reaching greatness
Legends never die"
Cale hummed the outro as he thought of the possible ways to distract the others so he could stab himself quickly. Just once, and there wouldn't be any pain, the World Tree had promised him. He was so lost in his thoughts that he didn't realise the door had opened. Cale nearly fell over in shock when he heard a cacophony of people shouting his name down below. 'What.....' Cale leaned over the railing and saw his family trying to get his attention. 'Oh no. Does that mean they heard me singing?' He turned around abruptly when he heard a 'thump' behind him. Clopeh Sekka was kneeling on the ground and sniffling, crying in reverence, "My legend is truly amazing, to have written a song just to describe the hardships he is going through and to encourage us lowly peasants."
Cale shrieked in bewilderment. "How did you even get in here?!" Clopeh only moved to hug his legs, sobbing about how great he was and that he would ensure he was written down for eternity. Upon hearing Cale's scream, everyone else had rushed up in worry, only to see the sight of Clopeh hugging Cale's legs. An oppressing aura filled the room with the weight of a dragon's wrath in it. Choi Han growled at the piece of trash daring to touch his Cale-nim. Everyone then charged forward, brandishing their swords and weapons at Clopeh. Cale yelped in horror at the sight of his companions rushing at him. To make matters worse, His Highness suddenly showed up at the door too. Cale then fainted, almost falling backwards over the balcony railing if not for Clopeh hugging his legs. His slacker life really was running away from him.
