"A tense stillness has settled over the three pairs of eyes awaiting a reaction. If it weren’t for the clear element distracting her, Beidou could probably notice the perfectly crafted symphony produced by the three accelerating heartbeats.
“Beidou.” Ningguang greets her. She has never appeared to be so interested in the wooden floor of her office than she currently is, as if torn between staring deep into her eyes and looking away in guilt. Guilt is not an expression she ever expected to see traced on the delicate features of the Tianquan. And it is one she finds she does not like at all.
“Pleased to see you, captain. It’s been a while, has it not ?” And she could recognize this voice from anywhere simply from the natural tightening of her fist it brings and the annoyance that ripples through her at how each of her words drips with lies."
