Happy New Year!
No Man’s Land is officially over! I’m writing this up in advance and scheduling to post at midnight so it doesn’t feel real to me quite yet. (Fingers crossed that I’m not jinxing everything by doing this.) It's still a relief. This year has been absolutely insane. Here’s hoping 2020 goes a little smoother. I’d love to live in some boring times.
Still, while No Man’s Land may be over, we can’t forget that it happened in the first place. Remember that thousands of people died because of the government’s greed and incompetence. Remember that they turned their back on American citizens when they needed help the most. Some final points about everything:
- The Black Monday Memorial Project is doing it’s best to document the people who lived and died in Gotham during No Man’s Land. I’d strongly recommend you check out their website.
- Now that people are actually allowed in Gotham, there’s a number of relief funds and organizations that are helping to get the city back on it’s feet after the re-opening. If you want to help, I found a pretty good list of them all here.
- It’s an election year this year. Remember it when President [INSULT] goes up for re-election this year. Sure, he ended No Man’s Land with an executive order, but he started it with one too. Don’t let this tragedy just get swept under the rug.
Finally, I’d just like to thank all of you guys who are still here and reading even after I disappeared off of the earth for a couple years. I know this blog has changed a lot from what it started out as, but thanks for sticking with it. For sticking with me. I really appreciate it. I don’t know when, if ever, I’ll be coming back to this blog now that No Man’s Land is over since my life is insane, but goodbye for now, and happy new years!

The end is in sight!
I don’t have much time, but I saw the news. No Man’s Land is finally ending! They’ll be reopening the city on New Year’s day. No Man’s Land has already been going on for a year too long. I’m glad it’s finally going to end.
PS: Don’t think I missed the significance of President [insult] repealing his old executive order on the one year anniversary. Now everyone’s talking about it finally ending rather than the messed up fact that it happened in the first place. But that’s politicians for you.

FAQ
I am no longer in No Man’s Land. You probably figured that out though. Anyway, I finally got ungrounded enough to get access to a computer again. You guys sent in a lot of questions, so I’m just going to answer them all in one place. Also! I uploaded all my No Man’s Land photos to the photo gallery so you can check those out if you don’t believe I was actually in there.
Dude, are you still alive?
Way too many of you guys sent this in. As it should be clear by now, yes, I am still alive. (A fact that I’m sure surprises many of the people who know me.)
Did you really sneak into No Man’s Land?
Yes. Yes, I did.
Are you the No Man’s Land kid?
Regrettably, yes. I wish the answer was no and I could keep my sweet, sweet anonymity, but yes, that was me. To answer the follow-up questions: yes, the military extracted me, and yes, I was in a ton of trouble when I got home.
Why did you do it?
The short answer, because some of my friends dared me to. Longer answer: Because Gotham’s my home. Because I can’t stay away from her no matter how hard I try. Because there were still people in there living their lives. Because somebody needed to make sure they wouldn’t be forgotten.
You were an idiot.
Yeah, yeah, I’ve heard it all before. At least it did something. At least people are talking about No Man’s Land and Gotham again.
How’d you get in?
An old service tunnel. It’s blocked now.
Did you have to eat rats?
No. I did eat several cans of 30 year old beans though. They tasted surprisingly good.
Was it scary in the areas of the city that the rogues controlled?
I mean, yes, but it was scary everywhere. I tried to avoid to the worst areas, especially where the Joker was, but from what I’ve heard from people who did live in those areas, day to day life still went on. You can get used to anything really. The worst part was when territory changed hands because that meant that people were trying to prove a point. That was when it was scariest.
By the time I was extracted, a lot of the major rogues actually controlled less of the city than groups like the GCPD and their splinter groups. And now Luthor’s there so I reckon they control even less.
Did you see what Lex Luthor’s doing? What’s your opinion on that?
I feel like I kind of touched on this in the last question, but yeah, I saw what Luthor was up to. I’d honestly be surprised if there was someone out there who hadn’t.
As for my opinion? I don’t trust Luthor any farther than I can throw him. I doubt he’s doing this for any sort of altruistic reason. Even besides all the good PR he’s getting from it, he’s probably got at least five other ways that he’s planning on benefiting from this. All that being said, he’s actually doing something for Gotham when no one else has and, despite everything else, it’s hard for me to fault him for that.
Are you ever going to go back to posting about Batman and Robin?
I’m sorry to say this, but the answer’s no, I’m not. I don’t regret the time I spent on here running this blog, but at the same time, I was a kid when I started this. I’ve grown up now. I’m too old to be chasing after urban legends any more. Things look different when you’re not a kid staring at blurry pictures desperate to believe in something.
Don’t take this the wrong way. I love all you guys who’ve followed this blog and got involved. I love the community that we made together. But in the end, I’ve just outgrown that stage of my life. I’m not going to take stuff down or anything like that, but I’m also not coming back to it.
What can I do to help?
So many of you guys sent this question in and it honestly makes me way more hopeful about this crazy world we live in. So what can you do? People in Gotham need food, medicine, supplies. Unfortunately, right now there’s no way to help them get any of that. What we can do is make it clear just how unpopular keeping Gotham No Man’s Land is.
Call your senators and representatives, tell them that they need do something about it. Keep talking about it. Don’t let the government just sweep Gotham under the rug. Don’t let them forget what they did.

Live from No Man’s Land
(Thank god my dad doesn’t know about this blog.) Your intrepid reporter is reporting to you live from No Man’s Land! I promise this isn’t a hoax. Don’t ask me how I’m getting enough internet to update this blog, I really don’t know myself. I do have pictures but I don’t trust the miracle of what internet I have to keep working if I try to upload them, so maybe I’ll see if I can add them later once (if) I make out. (Edit 11/10/19: All photos are now uploaded to the Gallery!)
Let’s get this out of the way. Things are bad. Really bad. There is no law, criminals are running the city, there’s barely any food, everyone’s starving, it’s bad. Death is common whether starvation, illness, or violence. I’ve heard people describe Gotham as hell on earth and the description feels pretty apt. No Man’s Land is a massive human rights violation and every day that the federal government lets it go on is more blood on their hands. Right now Two Face runs half the city. Killer Croc, Penguin, the gangs; they’ve all got the rest and their constantly fighting to see who can control the most. People are eating canned food twenty, thirty years past the expiration date simply because that’s what there is. Hell, that’s what I’m eating. It’s better than starving.
I’ll be honest with you. It’s scary. I’m scared. I made the choice to sneak in here and I know I’m in over my head. Part of me wishes that I was back outside where things were safe and simple. But I’m here now and I made that choice. Not everyone could.
There are still people in Gotham. Yes, there are the criminals. The news would like to convince you that they’re the only people still living in Gotham but that’s far from the case. I’ve talked to a lot of people since getting in here. Some of them chose to stay in No Man’s Land. Some of them weren’t able to evacuate in time. Some of them thought that the government would give them more time. Some of them didn’t have the resources or the documentation necessary to get out in the first place. There’s too many orphans in Gotham, kids who’s parents died in the quake and who didn’t have anyone to get them out of the city.
I met a man named Clyde. He was born in Gotham, said he chose to stay because he was too old to leave now and die somewhere else. If nothing changes, he probably will die in Gotham, sooner rather than later.
I met a woman named Jessica. She’s got a daughter, a little girl named Neveah only three months old, born in No Man’s Land. Her boyfriend had gotten in some trouble with the law, wouldn’t have been able to leave the city. So she stayed with him but then he was killed during one of the gang wars and now it’s just her and her daughter. She’s doing her best, but she’s scared they won’t make it through another winter if nothing changes.
I met a guy named Ryan. He used to play football for GU before everything went down. His leg was in a cast when they gave the order to evacuate. He wasn’t able to make it out on his own and his friends weren’t able to make it in to help him. He’s worried that he’s lost his chance at college because he’s stuck in here. He doesn’t know if he’ll make it out, if his scholarship will still be there when he does.
It’s not just the criminals that are stuck in here and hurting, it’s everyone.
And now that I’ve dropped all that on you, I do have to say, it’s not all bad. There are still people here who are doing their best to live their lives. People trying to do their best to help the people still stuck in here.
There’s a faction of the GCPD that decided to stay behind when the order came to clear out. They run a corner of the city as best they can. They’re trying to make sure that there’s still the law there, even if there isn’t anywhere else.
Poison Ivy’s actually helping people if you’ll believe it. She took over Robinson Park, but she’s also taken a bunch of the orphans who weren’t able to make it out under her protection. I talked to a girl named Brooklyn who was living there. She gave me a pear, said that they respect the green and keeps them safe and sheltered. She’s not hurting them.
I haven’t made it out that way, but I heard there was a woman running a hospital camp up in crime alley, helping out whoever needs it. I’ve run into priests and nuns scattered throughout the city, doing their best to help the kids, the sick, the injured. A lot have people have been able to tell I was out of my depth at a glance and offered advice. People still take time to bury the dead, to make small talk about the weather when they’ve got a spare moment. To tell stories and try and find a reason to laugh.
I don’t know what I’m trying to say. I guess, just: Gotham’s not dead yet, no matter what talking heads on TV say. We’re like a cockroach, we tend to outlive whatever tries to kill us. So just, don’t forget it please. Don’t let people forget about us.

Not a lot to be thankful for
I’m sure by now you’ve all heard the news. Gotham’s been a No Man’s Land for four whole days now. I watched them blow up the bridges on Monday. Been trying to figure out how I feel about everything since then. And you know what? Now it’s Thanksgiving and I’m just pissed. The rest of this stupid country is just celebrating like nothing’s different. They’ve still got the thanksgiving parade in Metropolis. Superman’s still there smiling and waving like there’s anything to be thankful about on this stupid day.
The government betrayed my home. They decided that money was more important to them than the lives of the citizens and people who depended on them. They decided that it was easier to wipe my city off the map rather than invest the time, money, and effort needed to get it back on it’s feet. Gotham was my home and now it’s dead. Now it’s nothing. I feel like I’ve lived my entire life for Gotham and now it’s gone. Maybe I was stupid to believe in the government. I’m from fucking Gotham, I know that government corruption is a thing. I live, well, used to live in one of the most corrupt cities in the world. Maybe I was stupid to think that the fucking federal government would be better than that and do the right fucking thing.
They shouldn’t be able to do that. They shouldn’t be able to just get rid of an entire city, earthquake damage or not. They gave Gotham a weekend to evacuate. All of 48 hours. You can’t evacuate a city in that time. I guarantee that there were still people on the other side of bridge who didn’t make it out on time. Who weren’t able to make it out in time. I know they left the criminals there (Like that isn’t a hell of civil rights violation on it’s own). I know that some people chose to stay. But I also know that there have to be people who weren’t able to get out on time. People who didn’t have the resources. People who are going to die because the government decided that they didn’t care enough to help. Innocent people are going to die because of this decision and their blood is going to be on the hands of each and every senator that voted for No Man’s Land in the first place. Yes, I know that it was an executive order, but it wasn’t like Congress did anything to stop it.
You should be angry about this. You should be angry that Washington is willing to spend money on keeping people out of Gotham but not to help it back onto it’s feet. You should be angry that they pulled the power to do this out of their hats and nothing stopped them. You should be angry that a city is gone for no other reason than it would’ve been hard to fight for it. Gotham deserves better than it got.
Fuck. I’m just pissed. There’s nothing to be thankful for this Thanksgiving. My dad’s talking about moving to Keystone. I can’t even stay close to where my home used to be. I feel like I can’t do anything besides scream into the void. This isn’t something I can solve. It’s a problem for the fucking president to solve I guess. Not that he will. I hope he loses the next election by a landslide.

Important!
So, uh, Hi. I am still alive. I didn’t die of the clench (barely). I’m kind of sorry for disappearing on you for so long but life just got really busy and I didn’t really have time to chase after Batman and Robin anymore. I’m not sure how many of you guys still check this blog, but if you are there, I’ve got a big favor to ask you all.
On June 27th at 7:03 pm, Gotham City was hit by the worst earthquake the east coast has seen in, like, ever. I know that was months ago, but Gotham’s still chugging along, still struggling. I’m lucky enough that where I live wasn’t hit that bad. Our house still has running water and electricity, but people living in the actual city still don’t have that. There’s still a ton of earthquake damage that hasn’t even begun to be repaired. Thousands of people are still living in relief camps because their homes have been destroyed. Some of my classmates are living in the school gymnasium because the neighborhoods where they live were hit harder than mine. There’s been help from Salvation Army, the Red Cross, and local organizations like Wayne Enterprises, but it isn’t enough.
If Gotham’s going to recover from this, we need federal aid. Starting this Monday, the 12th, Congress will be debating whether or not to send Gotham the money and supplies we need to rebuild. I don’t think this should even be a question, but unfortunately it is. Which is why I’m back here, talking to you guys for the first in nearly two years. I know most of you guys reading this blog are fellow gothammites, but if you aren’t, if you’re a Batman fan from Delaware, Pennsylvania, New York, any state that isn’t New Jersey, please call your state senators and representatives and tell them to vote to send Gotham aid. Spread the word. Please tell everyone you know to do this.
I know that I’m preaching to the choir here, but I also know what they’ve been saying about Gotham on the news, on the radio, on social media and I need to do something.
I’m sure you guys know exactly the hell that Gotham’s going through right now. The hell we’ve been through to get to this point. I know that the quake’s just latest in a long string of disasters that have done their best to bring Gotham to it’s knees. I know that everyone’s saying that we’re dying, that we’re as good as dead. That giving us federal aid would just be throwing good money after bad. That it’d be easier to just wipe the city clean off and start over.
But look, Gotham isn’t dead. Yes, we got hit by the plague. Yes, we got hit by the quake. Yes, we have the highest crime rate of any city in the US. I’m not going to deny the facts. But to look at just that is to ignore the fact that we’ve taken every punch the world has thrown at us and still gotten back up. Gotham’s might be a hotbed of corruption and crime, but there are still good fighting every day to make the city better. There are still ordinary people who live their lives there. We’re still living now. Gotham’s survived everything that’s been thrown at us and it’ll keep surviving. We just need a little help. If the government gives us the aid we need, we’ll rebuild. We’ll come back better than we did before, and we’ll keep fighting.
So please, do what you can to help us. I promise you it’ll be worth it.

Weekly Bat Sightings 4/28
No Bat sightings in Gotham this week :(
Thank you to RedHot and Kate for sending in articles. It looks like they might be working internationally. I don’t know anything for sure though. The Teen Titans are still off world too, so I can’t even talk about what they’re up to instead. If anyone has anything definite on Batman or Robin you should definitely send it in. Sorry to not have anything more for you this week. I guess I’ll leave up the Batsignal and hope he shows up. Until next week, Batwatch out.

Weekly Bat Sightings 4/21
It was a pretty great week for batwatching this week! It sucks that I had a project for science that I had to spend time on instead. No major rogue attacks but plenty of sightings on social media.
@cooljay78 in twitter got this shot of them over near chinatown:
@batfan4life was able to catch some footage of them over in old Gotham over which you can see here! It’s kind of blurry but it’s definitely them!
Finally, RedHot, JD, and Ryan all sent in some lit shots they dug up.
I finally got around to updating the gallery, so every picture submitted should be in there by now. I also updated Scarecrow’s page in the Rogue’s Gallery with the info from the latest GCPD safety memo (thanks Schroedinger’s Bat for pointing that out to me!) so check that out.
Until next week, Batwatch out.
