Chapter Text
It was a cold autumn day, Anne was on her way to meet up with her friend Marcy, who was in town visiting. Noticing her friend waiting for her she waved hello. They began to walk together.
Leaves blew in the wind, birds chirped, it was beautiful. Anne had been looking forward to Marcy’s visit for weeks, they hadn't seen each since Marcy moved away 10 years ago.
“So how have you been lately?” asked Marcy.
“Oh, you know I haven't been up to much, not long ago I dumped my girlfriend, Stacy.” Anne replied. “But that isn't important, I got you something.” She handed Marcy a little box with a red bow on it.
“Aww, you didn't have to get me a present. Thanks so much!” said Marcy excitedly.
“Anyway, what have you been up to?” Anne said.
“Well my webcomic is still doing great online. I’ve been making a lot of references to Amphibia in the story.” replied Marcy.
“Oh, my shoe is untied.” she noticed “you go ahead, I'll catch up.”
“Ok.”Anne agreed. She started walking on. Anne was taking a shortcut through an alleyway.
Soon enough she heard footsteps behind her. She assumed it was Marcy. suddenly she felt a sharp pain in the back of her head. She felt lightheaded and dizzy, she felt blood running down the back of her neck. The pain was so much she almost wanted to escape her own body. The world shifted, and then everything faded to black as Anne collapsed on the hard ground, dead.

Chapter Text
Death. For Anne it was not something new, she had felt it before. It was like your mind being forced from your body and out into the world. She felt cold and exposed without physical form, like being out in the winter without a jacket. That's when she saw it.
Her body. Lying on the ground like a puppet with no hand controlling it. It was as if she was dreaming. Then Marcy walked down the alleyway. Seeing Anne’s body, she screamed, horrified by what she saw. Anne watched as Marcy sobbed and held her body tight, Then she realized she was crying too. Marcy, coming to her senses, looked around for what could have happened. She picked up a brick off the ground, it was dripping with blood. Anne’s blood.
Anne couldn't watch anymore, she walked away, but she wasnt walking, she was floating. Just a few inches off the ground. Barely even thinking, she ran and ran and kept running, she didn't get tired and she didn't stop. Despite not knowing where she was going, Anne found herself at Sasha’s house. She wondered if Sasha would even be able to see her. She took a deep breath (although she couldn't breathe) and walked in through the wall.
Inside, Anne saw Sasha sitting alone eating lunch. Sasha didn't seem to be able to see her. It was strange watching Sasha without her knowing that she was there. It felt wrong. Anne was disappointed to not be seen and tried harder to get her friend’s attention. She waved her hand in front of Sasha’s face. No response. Anne kicked a chair in frustration. Sasha looked around wondering what had caused the sudden noise.
“What was that?” Sasha asked herself.
“ Yes” Anne thought, “ I can use this.” She picked up a pencil and paper, scaring the shit out of Sasha, who held up fork threateningly, and then Anne wrote
“It's me, Anne.” in response to the strange note Sasha shouted
“What the fuck!? Anne? Are you a ghost or something?” Anne wrote back
“yes, I think so”
“What happened? You aren't dead!” shouted Sasha, who obviously didn't know how ghosts work.
“I was killed.” Anne responded. She was starting to feel frustrated only being able to communicate through writing.
“WHAT?! WHO KILLED YOU?! I'M GOING TO FIND THEM AND FUCKING RIP THEM LIMB FROM LIMB! TELL ME! WHO DID THIS?!” Sasha shouted, slamming her fists down on the table.
Anne had had enough. She wasn't going to just stand here writing and not be seen or heard. She hated it. It had to stop. She willed herself to be seen, to be heard. At first it seemed like nothing had happened, then Sasha looked at her.
“What? You're here now?” asked Sasha.
“Yes i'm here” Anne replied, actually speaking this time.
“So now that I can hear you, who is it I need to murder?” asked Sasha.
“I don't know who killed me.” Anne said.
“Anne, you’re crying.” said Sasha “what's wrong?”
“Am I? I didn’t notice…” Anne asked, reaching up to feel her face. Sure enough she felt tears. Her face wasn't warm like it should be. It felt cold and almost as if she was holding her hand just above something that was really there. That feeling made her want to cry more. She felt the back of her head where she had been hit when she was killed. There was no blood. There was a dent in her head. It felt all wrong. She was sobbing now.
“Anne, what's going on? Do you need help?” asked Sasha, starting to panic.
“N-no im ok” said Anne.
“I'm just kind of scared.”
Anne sat down. She felt sick. She wanted to get away, from here, from Sasha, from herself. But there was no getting out of this. You cannot escape death.
“Hey, you’re gonna be ok.” said Sasha, who tried to give Anne a hug, but just phased through her.
“Uh.. that was weird. Sorry.” Sasha said awkwardly.
“It's ok. Just please don’t do it again, it feels like flossing my teeth but it's my whole body.” replied Anne, who had mostly stopped crying already.
“What?” asked Sasha.
“It's hard to explain!” Anne said, raising her voice.
“So anyway, does Marcy know..?” asked Sasha.
“Yes. she saw me die. It must of been horrible for her. I ran away from her because I couldn't watch. She was devastated.” Anne said, starting to cry again
“You should go find her, it might make her feel better to know you’re still here.” said Sasha. Before Anne could reply there was a sound of knocking on the door. Sasha got up to see who was there. Anne followed. When the door opened, what Anne saw was a surprise. Marcy stood there, out of breath from running and her face dripping with tears.
“What's wrong Marcy?” Sasha asked.
“There's a lot to explain.” Marcy said. “The first thing is Anne is dead. The second thing is someone saw me and thought that I killed her. They called the police.”
“Ok Marcy, come inside.” Sasha said. When they were inside, Marcy explained everything that had happened and Sasha explained her own situation. Marcy was confused at first, but once she knew that Anne was here she could see her. By the time she had finished she was crying and clearly starting to panic. Sasha hugged Marcy and said
“Everything will be ok, we're going to fix this.” If only she knew how horribly wrong she was.
