Even just the phrase “trigger words” makes Steve want to punch something, and as soon as he gets to the gym, he runs up to an industrial-size bag and doesn’t even wrap his hands, just starts whaling on it. He holds back only enough so he doesn’t immediately rip open the punching bag or send it flying off its hook.
After an hour of simmering he finally completely loses his temper, and the bag goes sailing off into the corner. He stares at it like it’s insulted his mother. His hands are bruised and bleeding but healing fast; he clenches his fists, reveling in the bright spots of pain.
There’s a whisper of a noise across the room and it’s only instinct that makes him turn around and step sideways.
