Toppling the Pole (AU or Canon)

Summary:

Pole toppling that's true to canon, but AU for my story!!! It was my alternate scene!!!

Work Text:

It was the school pole toppling event. Class A vs Class E. And Asano was the only one standing between Class E and victory.

"Looks like I really underestimated you," Asano said, his voice steel. He pulled off the restricting helmet and threw it away.

Fighting against class E had always been something a touch wilder anyway. He didn't need to abide by the strict rules of the game then.

He twisted a wrist and flipped someone off the pole, and then he flipped over into the top. His eyes scanned over the pitiful members remaining on the field, and his enemies still left.

He wasn't aware of the way his ever present smile had turned into something predatory, like he was looking at the scattered prey in his eyesight.

"Attack!" He screamed out loud, he had made plans for the class to be separated too, and honestly, he had been pretty sure about defeating the class single handedly until he actually saw them on the field.

They were actually, annoyingly, good.

His eyes flashed and he swung around. His feet clipped a few wrists and elbows and he dropped down on their heads a few times, gripped his thighs around the pole to throw off more.

Their grips were tights, and even their postures were good, but he was still more trained than them.

He used their reflexive flinches, used as many pressure points and tried to not injure their fingers too badly. But. They really were annoyingly persistent.

He started going for their chins, breaking their elbow and at one point almost flipped off the pole completely to get at one of the students.

He had to go for the students who were physically strongest without actually hurting them (which was honestly the toughest part) and in the crush of it, he almost missed another member of their class who had been an absentee on most class wide events including exams.

"Ah fuck," he whispered under his breath just as the other boy and a new surge of semi injured students rushed at the pole and toppled it.

"Heh, looks like you lose again, President," one of the students holding him back gasped out. He stamped his instep and elbowed his stomach, before brushing clear his scrunched up shirt.

He turned around and spotted Karma, pulling back from him with a smirk.

Class E cheered loudly around him and he huffed, a slightly flat smile on his face.

"Looks like your class wins again. It was a good strategy," he admitted. His eyes went over to the transfer students breathing harshly beside the opponents equally fallen pole, and he raised a surprised brow at them.

He hadn't been expecting them to actually accomplish it. Looks like it was his failure to buy enough time then.

Then he frowned. Because they seemed hurt.

_

Apparantly, they had forced the pole to fall over and Kevin had ended up twisting his wrist. He would need a brace for a week to prevent any long term issues.

On top of that, Kevin was already a sports player, expected to be one of the young bright stars of his country.

Gakushuu's apologies wouldn't be enough to make up for the injury of a young and promising athlete, no matter how slight.

Which only made it worse when they were called up to the Principal's office immediately after.

Gakushuu was in disbelief when the first punch was thrown. When one of them got flipped and slammed into the table with a loud groan, he stumbled over his own feet like a newborn pup and fell.

He flinched with every punch after, watching with wide eyes as his father spilt blood.

It was different from his fights against his father, different from the debates or even the arguments he chose to take up for the sake of the students.

In his father's eyes-

He couldn't see the part that always looked at him anymore.

His father didn't see Gakushuu at all right then.

-

Gakushuu took three minutes to force his trembling legs to get up, and a minute more to actually open the office door and get out.

Outside, his friends were waiting with worried looks.

"Ambulance," he croaked out. Their eyes widened in alarm.

"Are you hurt?" Ren asked, almost frantically. His hands patting over Gakushuu's ribs and arms. He shook his head.

"It's the transfer students," he looked away from his friends, a grim expression on his face. "The Principal beat them all up."

"What? Wait what?? He…beat them up?" Seo asked, dumbstruck. He opened the office door and stared at the scene with wide eyes. Everyone else looked before wincing and Ren shut the door with a scowl.

"I'll call for someone discreetly."

Gakushuu nodded gratefully before turning away.

Ren would handle it. Even if they hadn't been a direct part of it, Ren had managed quite a few post fight injuries in their schools (thank you Akabane Karma). He was well aware of how to proceed.

Their school already had a hush money system for problems that occurred, generally for class E related problems- bullying, suicidal or self injuring kids and such.

It was one of the papers the parents had to sign when their children entered the school. Not that anyone thought of it as important or even necessary. But it had actually turned out more necessary than expected (again, thank you Akabane Karma).

None of the students or teachers were liable for the injuries that happened to either side, specially during the sports festival.

But it was petty of him to force Gakushuu to deal with these injuries on his friends done by his own father.

He was so in shock he couldn't even muster up any anger against his own father.

All he remembered were his eyes, staring into Gakushuu like he wanted to devour him whole. When he spoke of mistakes, it felt like he was talking about Gakushuu's entire existence summed up in a few words.

Failure. Failure. Failure. Failure.

His breath stuttered in his throat.

The people discreetly carried off the injured students. The ambulance didn't cause any alarm with news of Kevin's injury already spreading.

He needed to consider how to inform the school about the transfer students' injuries and what would surely be their decision to not attend their school anymore.

Class E confronted him with confident and smug smiles on their faces, and he plastered on a smile and and agreed, yes of course he was going to value the bet and not expel anyone.

There was things he needed to do, but he didn't really feel like bantering with class E anymore. Or continuing with the rest of the day.

It would be nice if he could just have this day over with and just sleep. Preferably in his own bed, but he could take his desk at this point.

Promising to give up sleeping in school was the worst mistake he had made. He should have let the students fend for themselves and at least made sure he would get enough sleep per day.

Because it sure looked like he wouldn't be getting any proper sleep at night from his nightmares at least.
