Remember that you will die.
Such a simple, inevitable phrase. One cannot cheat death, so why bother trying?
And yet. There were some things that defied this simple truth.
Daniel James Fenton was one of them.
When Daniel was born, the doctors said he wouldn't survive till the morning. Daniel defied their expectations. He lived.
When Daniel was ten, he was pushed down a flight of stairs by a school bully and rendered comatose. No one thought he would survive.
Again, Daniel defied their expectations. He lived.
When Daniel was 14, his parents finished their life’s work – a portal to the Ghost Zone. When the portal failed, Jack and Maddie Fenton decided to take a break from work, to revitalize their scientific spirit. Daniel’s friends convinced him to let them see the portal. Then, Daniel walked into the portal – and accidentally turned it on. He was instantly slammed with thousands of volts of electricity. His friends thought there was no way he could have survived. By now, I’m sure you know what happened next. Daniel defied their expectations. He lived.
But Death will not be defied so easily.
