Summary
Julienne Ayres knows what war does to people. She's seen it in the eyes of her American father, and in the hands of her Belgian immigrant mother. Her parents never wanted her to experience anything like the Great War. But it is now 1942, and the Second World War thunders on. It has been months since America decided it would not sit idle in the war effort any longer, so Julienne decides to follow its lead. Through a new program from the U.S. government, Julienne is set on her way to become the first female combat medic for the 101st Airborne Division. But war washes and erodes many things Julienne thought she knew of life. Can she survive and find direction through this? Or will she be ripped apart, drifting forever in the ruins of war?
