Chapter Text
Not for the first time, Kim Jang-Sung woke up early. It was five in the morning, and his body had decided that it simply didn’t want to sleep anymore. He slipped into a pair of black slacks, a grey button-down shirt and a leather jacket and sighed. “Too early,” he said. “For fuck’s sake, Kim…”. He headed to the kitchen of the place… Overwatch champions, when they were on base and weren’t dealing with threats, lived in something of a large boarding house. Each quarters had its own bathroom and kitchen, but the house also had a communal kitchen. When he got there, he saw Hana sitting on the couch and playing a muted game on her phone.
“Couldn’t sleep either?” She said as she put the phone down.
“Nope… body decided it wanted to wake up.” He sat next to Hana and sighed again. “Oh well, at least we know who we’re after.”
“Yeah… this Yamato sounds like bad news.”
“He does, but let’s not forget what my name means. Jang-Sung… Victorious in Battle.”
“Surely you’ve lost at least once…”
“If I had, we wouldn’t be talking right now.”
Hana smiled as a giggle escaped her lips. “Good point.”
“There is one thing I’m nervous about, though.”
“You? Nervous? Sure, and I’m Kim Jong-Un.”
“That tyrannical potato? Nah, he’s been dead since 2045! What I’m nervous about is…. Frankly, how you’re gonna take what I have to say.”
“Well, what do you have to say?”
Jang-Sung squared his shoulders and simply said softly…. Gently… “I’ve… fallen in love with you, Hana.”
Hana’s mouth fell open in surprise. “I know… you said that… that other girls don’t… do it for you… but… why me?”
“Well, let’s see. Can’t use a one to ten scale here… too dehumanizing, and ten’s not enough. So let me just rattle off a few things. Should I start with your intelligence? You gotta be smart to be a gamer. Or should I start with your courage, because I know for a fact you lay your life on the line for Korea, which isn’t something a coward does. Hmmm… how about the fact that your hair reminds me of a waterfall of liquid copper, or how your eyes shine like Heaven Lake on Mount Paektu? Let’s see, what else? How about our commonalities, desperate as that might sound? You want to know what special means? How about the definition of amazing? I’ll tell you how to find out. Go look in a mirror, Hana. Seriously.”
Hana smiled. “Well Jang… do you want to know what I think?”
“Hmmm?”
“I think… you need to shut up…”. She leaned in… “and kiss me.”
