Colorful Chaos

Summary:

Four is the only one still in a condition to fight, and the army of monsters is far too overwhelming for just one person. Four makes a split-second decision.

Notes:

-Whumptober Prompt 8 2023: “I've got a soul, but I’m not a soldier.”

-This is more of a comedy but it was very fun.

-I had fun with it, it’s all over the place, and I wrote half of it while sick.

-I genuinely don’t know what happened lmao

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

Four was a bit fucked. There were a good 20 monsters left and everyone else was down, some kind of wave of dark magic from the wizzrobe they’d taken out that they’d only been spared from by Vio’s studies of dark magic. However the others all seemed to be frozen in place.

They could, however, still speak, “Is anyone still able to move?” Warrior’s called.

“I am,” They said.

Vio tuned any further conversation out, ‘I don’t see how we can save them aside from splitting,’ Before anyone could argue, they raised the Four Sword and split.

~~~
Splitting was always an odd feeling, particularly when doing it in front of those who didn’t know you weren’t just a singular person. They’d all finished the battle rather quickly, and the others had all regained control of their limbs mere minutes after the battle.
Unfortunately this meant that the heroes wanted to know what was going on, and, because Vio had the most rotten of luck, the color’s turned to them to explain, because of course they did.
And now there were 12 heads turned towards them, “So, the name Four is very literal. In our adventure we pulled the Four Sword and became split into four separate people. I am an intellectual, Red has emotional intelligence, Blue is assertive, and Green is more focused and motivated. We can all merge back together, but we are still separate,”
“So are you Purple?” Vio leveled Wind with the most disgusted look they could muster.
“Their name is Vio!” Red said.
Sky’s eyes widened with sudden realization, “Wait, what are your pronouns?”
Red beamed, “I use he/they, Blue uses she/her, Green uses he/him, Vio uses they/them, when we’re all together as Four we don’t really care!”
“Our Zelda uses she/they pronouns,” Vio explained.
They all began to talk, and they slowly settled back into the normal routine.
~~~

Time raised his eyebrow at the small boy in front of him, “Hello Green, do you need something?”

“Yeah,” Green shuffled a bit, “Would you come and help me get some firewood?”

Time smiled, he did feel like a good walk-n’-talk, “Of course.”

Time was letting Green take his time, he’d talk when he was ready. After a few minutes Green shuffled and gave a hesitant -but wry- smile, “So, I think it’s about time I started talking about what I want to, eh?”

Time gave the other a look, “Yes, what is it that’s been making you so green.”

“Now, I know you probably think I’m wanting to talk about my issues, which I might do at another point. But I’m actually wanting to talk about a plan I’ve been thinking about for some Time.”

Time smirked at the devious light in the other’s eyes, “Oh?”

A grin appeared on Green’s face.

~~~
In Blue’s defense- actually no, she does not need a defense for her perfectly reasonable response to Legend’s transgression. It was late and Legend had first watch and she’d just folded her clothing and reorganized her bag, and was about to finally settle in next to Red, who was already asleep in their bedroll. Vio was, by some miracle, actually asleep on Red’s other side.
Then Legend’s fucking voice pierced through her calm, “You think you have everything organized enough?”
“Do you have any idea how horrible disorganization is!” Her rant was long and angry, and she’d never apologize for it.
Somehow the two ended up bitching to each other and making fun of Warriors, who was not pleased about being tag-teamed the next day, at least that’s what he claimed despite how he smiled half the time.
~~~

Red was disappointed to say the least, he had been about to join Wild and Hyrule, he’d been very excited to set things ablaze. Unfortunately, he came down with a cold and Hyrule would probably murder him if he went with. Sky had volunteered to look after him while everyone else all did their various tasks.

Which was really nice of him! He was very nice to cuddle with, not quite as amazing as Blue cuddles, but still great! Although Red’s opinion on that may have been a tad biased.

Sky shifted, his hold on Red loosening as he sighed, seeming to be waking up, “Good morning,” A sleepy voice made the smaller giggle.

“Hello!”

Sky put the back of his hand on Red’s forehead for a moment while he pouted. There had been a great deal of temperature checking in the past few days, which Red was honestly sort of over at this point. -Well, unless it was Blue.- “It feels like your fever is gone.”

Now that he thought about it, Red was feeling significantly better than he’d been earlier. Red gave Sky one of his innocent, wide-eyed looks that could get even Vio to give in to whatever he wished for, “Sky, can I show you my fire rod?”

Sky melted at the look, “Of course-”

Red didn’t let the other finish talking before bolting for the rod, not seeing the sudden dread and likely regret he knew was probably showing on Sky’s face. He grinned as he picked up his weapon of choice, this was going to be fun!

~~~
Vio had sat down with Wild while they cooked, they had many questions about the slate and guardians and just technology in general in Wild’s time which eventually went into storytelling.
“And then-”
Vio smirked at the chef, “So, you seem to be talking about this Sidon quite a bit,”
Wild smiled, “He’s one of my closest friends, he’s the kindest, most amazing person I know and his grin is-” Wild frowned at Vio, pure bafflement on their face, “Why are you wiggling your eyebrows?”
“Just that you seem to be a tad infatuated with him is all,”
The unscarred portion of Wild’s face turned a remarkable shade of red as they turned and stirred the soup far more vigorously than before, “He’s nice,” they mutter.
Before Vio could even think about further teasing Red seemed to appear from nowhere before he leaned over and whispered something to Wild Vio couldn’t hear before he scampered away.
The grin on Wild’s face when they turned towards them was a tad concerning, and their concern turned out to be valid when Wild spoke, “So, who’s Shadow?”
Vio raised an eyebrow, glad they had decent acting skills, “A boy I like whom I have finally figured out how to get back and will commence the plan once we return to my time. I can only hope he won’t hate me.”
“I’m sure he won’t. Oh, the soup’s ready!”
They continued talking after everyone ate and even went out in the woods so they could talk more privately when a dark portal appeared and there were two beings in front of them.
Dark Link stood with a smile likely meant to be menacing which honestly Vio could do much better than that, next to a very bemused Shadow, “Hello Vio Link, I believe you are quite close to my new friend-”
“Hey V,” Shadow grinned at them, and their heart skipped a beat.
Shadow,” Vio rushed towards the other, enveloping him in a hug which was returned just as tightly, “I’m so sorry.”
Vio heard Shadow choke out a laugh, “That’s what I was going to say,”
There was the noise of someone clearing their throat before Dink spoke, sounding rather smug, “So, I take it you’ll be joining me?”
~~~

Shadow frowned before it dawned on him, “Wait, you thought I was going to help you hurt a bunch of Links? When I’m in lo- a close friendship with one? After I sacrificed myself for them?”

Dink frowned at him, “But you’re a Shadow?”

“A Shadow is not a Dark, we aren’t naturally inclined to do evil. Like, thanks for reviving me and taking me to my best friend,” Assuming Vio still likes him, “But I’m good, no need for vengeance or anything.”

Shadow watched as the long haired person V’d been with, attempted to impale Dink with a sword -A shitty quality sword, it seemed- but missed as Dink made a frustrated noise and disappeared.

There was an awkward silence before Shadow heard Vio’s trademark dry tone, “This is going to be fun to explain to the others.”
