God, he was so not dealing with this well. Amy was too much of... everything.
He felt like such an idiot when he literally drifted off to sleep thinking about her laugh or her smile most nights. And he felt like an even bigger idiot when he realized he'd do pretty much anything to make her laugh.
He really should talk to someone about this- about her. One would assume as his best friend since they were kids he would talk to Charles, but, while always supportive, he tended to be overbearing in this area. The mushy feelings/relationship/whatever the hell this was area.
Even when he wasn't drifting off to sleep thinking about her smiling, he was usually thinking about her.
Case in point tonight, staring at the ceiling, feeling stressed as he begged his mind to shut up and just let him sleep. Instead of tossing and turning like he'd been for the past hour.
Jake rolled over, checking his alarm clock again. 1:08 AM. Fan-freakin'-tastic.
Jesus Christ. He was a mess.
At least he was a self-aware mess, he noted dryly. Amy would like that.
Amy liked him.
He actually felt his face heat up at the thought. Why the hell did she like him? He was a full grown adult bent all out of shape over a girl freakin' blushing as he buried his head in his pillow and groaned to himself.
He was so not good at adulting right now. He was really sucking at it. Feelings were so much easier to deal with as a kid when he could just repress the hell outta them. All the bad ones at least.
And that was part of the problem. This feeling he had for Amy- everything he felt in her general direction- it was a good feeling. Or more like a jumbled mess of feelings, all of them good.
He honestly wasn't sure how much more of this he could take.
He made another strangled dying animal noise into his pillow before lifting his head up and checking the clock again. 1:14 AM.
