Summary:

Adora is no longer She-Ra. The sword is broken and with Horde Prime and his clones raging across Etheria, she knows she needs to fix this. But when Adora wakes up with pain in her side and memory foggy, not remembering anything three months after the Heart of Etheria, she finds herself in an alternate timeline where she is dead and Catra is She-Ra. This is a reality where she can stop Horde Prime from ever coming and then hopefully, maybe, she can find a way back home.

Catra didn't ask to be She-Ra. She hates the idea of being chosen. Of having a destiny. But being She-Ra and being part of the Rebellion is something Adora would have done, and Catra would do anything for Adora. However, on the way back to Brightmoon with Glimmer and Bow, Catra finds an unconscious Horde soldier in the woods that looks a little too much like Adora. Then that person ends up being Adora. And when interrogating her, Catra discovers that this Adora is from a different world, where she doesn't know Catra.

But what they both don't know is that their fates are now intertwined and nothing will ever stay the same.
~ ~ ~ ~
Or Adora and Catra are both lovesick idiots and this effects the whole plot. And the world too.

Notes:

Wow this idea would not leave my head. Now a month later I have two full chapters written, two unfinished, and over 30+ chapters planned. This is going to be LONG.

The timeline for this fic takes places for Catra right after S1 Ep4 ends and for Adora it's just S5.

I hope you enjoy this as much as I did writing it.

EDIT (11/26/24):
Hi! This is now beta read by the amazing @Aeriththe_Unwise. They are must better at English than I so their help is appreciated. Please go look at their account on Ao3 and read their works as they are so much better than anything I am capable of writing. Future chapters outside of 1 and 2 are now beta read.

Chapter 1: Prologue

Chapter Text

Adora’s vision was filled with light as she shot up from the ground with a scream. Pain laces her entire body. She subconsciously holds onto her side feeling for a wound. Adora gasps for breath and squeezes her eyes shut for a moment. Breathe. Breathe. The wound. It’s not there. What happened? Did she pass out again? Adora thinks she did. She feels so tired though. The pain coursing through her body subsides and her brain whitens out. What has happened recently? Did she have that dream again? She had been having the same dream for weeks. She’d be in a field, full of grass. The same place she’d come through the portal that brought her to Etheria. Stars were twinkling above, casting a shine onto her surroundings. And in the distance was that golden figure that so closely resembled She-ra.

And everytime she woke up in a cold sweat. But why had she been asleep in the first place?

Ah right. Horde prime had invaded their camp again. She then passed out. Great. Just great. Well she thinks she passed out. Adora has a killer headache and her memories seem a bit fuzzy.

Her eyes adjusted to the blinding sunlight coming from the windows(Windows? She hasn't had windows in two months). Quickly looking around, she discovered that she was in the spare room. Which…doesn't make sense. The horde had invaded Brightmoon. A long time ago.

Checking what she had on her were the same things she had when she thought she had passed out. So she hadn’t time traveled then.

A hum of magic surrounded her. The same kind of magic of the containment that Shadow Weaver was kept in before Glimmer became queen.

Adora is now very confused.

The creaking of the doors and the light that floods through catches Adora’s attention.

The door opens and in walks Casta and Queen Angella.

Angella…

She was supposed to have died.

What is going on?!

_________

Catra was pissed.

Queen Angella wasn’t allowing her to interrogate the horde soldier she, Bow, and Glimmer found. And then she found out they don't even have holding cells?!

Catra is beginning to understand why the Rebellion was losing to the Horde.

They found the horde soldier in the whispering woods while walking back from a successful mission at recruiting Perfuma to join the Princess Alliance. The horde soldier was wearing a red jacket and a tight shirt underneath. Strangely enough there were no visible horde symbols nor horde communicators on her. But what stood out the most was the woman’s blonde, almost golden hair. It was pulled back into a ponytail with a dumb little hair poof at the front of her head.

It was just like how Adora used to wear her hair.

But this woman couldn't be Adora.

Catra had turned over the unconscious woman. Soft snores came out of the blonde's soft pink lips.

“What’s a horde soldier doing here?” Bow asked from behind her.

“She doesn’t look like she’s dangerous. Maybe she deserted like you Catra?” Glimmer said, crouching next to Catra and poking the blonde in the face.

“Well we can’t take any risks. Let’s take her to Brightmoon to be questioned.” Catra looked back at Glimmer and Bow and they both looked uncomfortable. Seriously?

“Have you guys ever interrogated someone before?”

Glimmer laughed nervously, “Pffft- Of course I have! It’s just that…that-”

Catra raised an eyebrow.

“...no I have not. But hey! We are the good guys so we don’t normally have to interrogate the enemy! Right Bow?” Glimmer looked over at Bow in distress then back at Catra then back at Bow.

Bow startled and started sweating. “Yeah! Totally.” He nodded.

Catra sighed and started to try and pick up the horde soldier but almost lost her balance when the blonde’’s weight caught her off guard.

Jeez.. how much muscle does this lady have?

“Um, a little help here?”

Bow and Glimmer rushed over and together they all brought the horde soldier back to Brightmoon.

Back in Brightmoon Catra was not allowed in the spare room( Catra still can’t believe that they have no holding cells) because it might be dangerous. At least according to Angella.

The soldier had woken up, Catra had heard her scream muffed by the castle walls.

“I don’t understand Your Majesty. I’m She-ra, I'll be able to handle it. She’s just a simple horde soldier.”

Angella had not been amused but had still spoken softly to her, (She still didn’t quite understand why Angella was being so kind to her) “You just recently deserted and are still vulnerable. This could be a trap and I will not allow you to be harmed. You have been hurt enough.”

Catra was too speechless to form a proper response.

In the end, Angella and a woman who was apparently a sorcerer named Casta were the ones to walk in and interrogate the horde soldier.

Great.

_________

You have to stay calm .

You are a bad liar.

Don’t lie.

Objective: Find out what’s going on.

All these things were running through Adora’s head as Angella and Casta walked up to the end of the spell circle.

From what Adora could see, it was like Angella hadn’t been stuck in the portal at all. She looked how she was before all of that happened. Which was confusing. Because Adora hadn’t time traveled, she’s pretty sure of that but what other option is there? If she is in the holding spell that means they have never seen or met her before. She is in a time that she's never been in and in a situation that is kinda hopeless. So where does that leave her?

Fucked. That's where that leaves her.

Angella looked quite stern. A direct opposite to how she looked in her final moments.

“You are going to tell me how you made it into the Whispering Woods Horde soldier.” Angella demanded, taking a step forward. “My commander and her friends found you unconscious too. Mind explaining that?”

Well that confirms that they don’t know her. Adora hasn’t been a Horde soldier in three years.

That begs the question. What to do now? Adora has nothing to offer. Adora doesn’t have She-Ra. She’s gone. And if Adora doesn’t have She-Ra…then what good is she to the rebellion? Sure Bow and Glimmer back home had told her that she was more than She-Ra. But would they have even been friends if she wasn’t She-Ra? Would she be enough for the rebellion if she was just..Adora?

Casta’s throat clearing brought her attention back to the situation at hand. Right. She was asked a question. She can answer that. Totally.

“Well?” Angella raised an eyebrow.

“Um…Hi?” Great. Good one Adora. Nailed it.

“I asked you a question. I expect you to answer it.”

“…What is the question again? Sorry..” Adora asked meekly.

“What were you doing unconscious in the Whispering Woods?”

“Ooooh, right. I can answer that. Uhm. So…I think I’m time traveling because a lot of stuff has happened in my timeline but I’m not sure? Anyway, I’m not with the Horde. I mean I was…but not anymore! I haven't been. For like. 3 years. I was um in the woods when I passed out and now I’m in the spare room and I think it’s because I time traveled! Wait, I already said that. Never mind, I know this sounds very fake and you probably think it is but I swear I’m telling the truth!” Adora catches her breath, “so uh…does that answer your question?”

Angella at one point of her rambling placed her fingers between her eyes and took a deep breath. By the end of it, Angella looks rather…flabbergasted. Like she can’t quite comprehend what was being said.

It was the exact same look that Adora was given when she explained what was happening in the portal with Micah. Wow…now that she thinks about it, these two situations are very similar. Was this caused by a portal in some way?

Angella seemed to have composed herself. “Well…we,” Angella gestured at the door then Casta. “Are going to discuss what to do. Until then, some comfort and food will be given to you.”

Adora almost sighed in relief. “Oh..okay. Thank you.”

_________

Catra didn’t have to wait long outside the door. Either Angella was very good at interrogating people or there was not much to interrogate.

Glimmer and Bow had been shuffling and discussing among themselves for a while. Catra was focused on the noises within the room. Brightmoon’s walls are strangely good at keeping sounds in. To Catras' increasing frustration, all she could detect even with her ears was someone rambling. That’s it. Ugh.

When Angella walked through the door looking frazzled with a pondering Casta in tow, Catra knew she had to go inside somehow.

Glimmer and Bow noticed when Angella and Casta walked up to the trio.

Glimmer teleported right in front of her mom waving her arms back and forth. “What did you find out?! Is she a spy? Is she a deserter?! Why was she unconscious!?!” Glimmer grabbed the front of her mom’s robes and shook her back and forth for a few seconds before pausing at the harsh look in Angella’s eye.

Catra winched.

Glimmer cleared her throat and backed away. She rocked on her heels a big small on her face. “Soooo…how did the questioning go?”

Angella cleared her throat, “Well according to…ah.”

Catra realized what the problem was. “You forgot to ask her name didn’t you?”

“Indeed I did. Let’s refer to her as…Sunny for the time being.”

Catra raised her eyebrows. “Is that because she’s blonde or has a sunny personality?”

“Both.”

“So what’s her deal?” Glimmer wondered.

Angella pinched the bridge of her nose and took a deep breath. “She says she left the horde three years ago. But also thinks she has time traveled in some way.”

“And you are sure she is telling the truth because..?” Catra drawled.

“She knew she was in the spare room. I don’t think the Horde knows about our lack of holding cells.”

“Well if she’s not with the Horde that’s good. And if she is maybe from the future maybe she can help us? Not sure how she could help us if she is from the past.” Bow pitched in.

“That’s a good idea Bow but for now I want all of you to get some rest. I’ll finish interrogating Sunny tomorrow. You are all dismissed.”

Glimmer grabbed Catra and Bow and then teleported to her room.

Glimmer started pacing once inside while Bow stood awkwardly. Catra walked over to the bean bag and plopped down onto it placing her head in her hands.

“We need to find a way to talk to the blonde.”

“You’re not going to call her sunny?” Bow asked.

“What? No.” Catra shook her head, “we are getting off topic anyway. We need to talk to the blonde woman. How do we do that?”

Glimmer looked uncomfortable. “Er Catra? Mom said we aren’t to talk to her. I mean I want to, but shouldn’t we wait?”

Catra looked at Glimmer harshly. “No, I have some questions I need to ask. So how do we get in?”

“Hey Catra, let’s calm down. Okay?” Bow put his hands up in a friendly gesture. “We can brainstorm ways to get in. But am I allowed to ask why you want to see Sunny so bad?” Bow crouched next to her.

Taking a deep breath Catra answered, “She looks like someone I knew. In the Horde. And if she is from some kind of separate timeline or some other world and is another version of the person I knew. I need to know. I want to know. Because that means she’s here and I can…show her how far I’ve come.” Catra looked at her hands then clenched them into fists. She looked up at Bow with determination.

“Is this the friend you mentioned you wanted to leave the Horde for? During Thaymor?” Bow tentatively asked.

“Yeah.”

Glimmer walked up to them with her eyebrows drawn and mouth pulled up. “What happened?”

Catra took a deep breath and shook her head. “It…it doesn’t matter. The end result is the same, she’s dead and I’m alive.” Bow and Glimmer gave her a look. She smiled slightly at her friend's care and gave a small laugh. “One day..I’ll tell you guys, but..not today.” She took Bow's hand and squeezed.

Bow squeezed back and gave her a big smile.

He stood up and looked at both of them. “Okay. So how are we going to do this?”

Catra rolled her eyes and said, “Duh how the best friend squad always does things.”

Glimmer and Bow cheered and pulled her into a hug.

“Best friend squad hug!” Bow squealed.

Even if this Horde soldier isn’t Adora…Catra smiles at Bow and Glimmer and feels warmth spreading through her body from the hug. She thinks she’ll be fine.

_________

Adora woke up to a blade to her throat. The moment it pricked her skin her body felt like it was on fire. The flame awoke her brain and caused her to be wide awake. The blade was cold in comparison to the scared fire that was hyper aware of every movement, sound, feeling that touched her burning skin.

There was a shuffling and three separate footsteps. She knew Glimmer and Bow were in here as they were the ones to find her. But if Queen Angella didn’t know her then they wouldn’t either. It was just the portal all over again.

Slowly craning her eyes open light flooded Adora’s eyes making everything blurry. Vague shapes came into focus. There were three people in the room. Though her vision was too blurry to make out who they were.

Blinking rapidly a few times brought her world into focus.

Her breath caught in her throat.

The blade against her neck was She-Ra’s sword.

And in front of her were Glimmer and Bow looking like antiques of time. Glimmer was wearing her old garment with her hair puffed up instead of how it was swooped to the side. Bow looked how he did in her timeline, crop top and all. Their eyes were hard (well as hard as Bows can be) and no recognition shone through. Now looking at her two best friends she realized how much she missed them. Glimmer with her stubborn goodwill and Bow with his unyielding kindness. It felt like so long ago that there was no fighting, no heart of Etheria, no Shadow Weaver.

But…in the center of the two, the one holding She-Ra’s Sword of Protection against her throat was Catra looking at her with wide eyes like she had seen a ghost.

Time seemed to have slowed between them. For the first time in a year Adora was allowed to just admire Catra. She was wearing a similar version to her old horde outfit except her shirt was white and the red was lighter. Her horde badge on her belt was missing as well as her force captain badge. She had her gray hair tuffs again. Adora’s fingers twitch as she holds herself back from trying to reach out and run her hand through the tuffs.

But what surprised her the most was the light in Catra’s eyes. Something she hadn’t seen in three years. Her blue and amber orbs almost looked like they shined with tears in them. Adora felt her face heating up and quickly looked away breaking whatever moment they had been having.

Catra unfroze then took a deep breath as her face smoothed over.

She took the sword away from Adora’s throat and put on her most signature smirk as she crouched in front of where Adora was sitting.

Adora’s heart clenched in her chest.

“Hey there Horde soldier. I have questions.” Catra purred, “and luckily for me, you have all the answers.”

Glimmer stepped up behind Catra (this is a weird sight Adora thought briefly) and crossed her arms, her face scrunched up in angry determination.

“Listen here missy. I don’t trust you so if you try anything-” Glimmer raised a sparking fist threateningly “I will be using this. Deal?”

Adora, feeling an intense wave of déjà vu, nodded numbly, “Yeah..deal.”

Catra froze at the sound of her voice but quickly set her eyebrows down and her smirk was back. “First, what’s your name? We need something to call you after all.”

Catra doesn’t know who she is?

“Um.. Adora.” She said absentmindedly, looking at She-Ra’s sword.

Adora had a choice she realized. They didn’t know who she was. Even Catra . She had no She-Ra, no reason for them to trust her. They already had a She-Ra. She could tell them who she is, spill her story. But would they believe her? She was completely alone here.

Catra made an unidentifiable noise when Adora said her name. “This is going to sound really weird but do you know who I am?”

Now seeing Catra how she looked in Thaymore, when Adora asked, begged Catra to come with her.

“Enough with your weird little identity crisis and let’s go home. Or do I need to zap you again?”

All of a sudden everything that has happened between them came back with full force. All the hurt caused, all the blood spilled. The scars on her back burned at the reminder.

“Every hero needs a sidekick right?”

She tried, she really did.

“It doesn’t matter what they do to us, y’know? You look out for me and I look out for you. Nothing really bad can happen as long as we have each other.”

She wasn’t able to stop the Battle of Brightmoon.

“You promise?”

She wasn’t able to stop the portal.

“I promise.”

And she wasn’t able to stop Horde Prime from coming.

“I don’t care! I won’t let you win! I’d rather see the whole world end than let that happen.”

And suddenly Adora is tired. She’s tired of being the hero, she is tired of fighting, she is just tired.

“You broke the world and it is all your fault.”

Adora had a choice. And she had already made it the moment she laid eyes on Catra.

“No.” Replied Adora , “I don’t know you.”

She can fix this. Stop everything bad from happening. She has to.

Even if her heart breaks at the sight of Catras' crumbling face.

_________

Adora is actually here was what was on repeat of Catra’s mind at the moment.

She is sitting before Catra, eyes narrowed, looking like no time has passed.

But everything is different. This Adora has matured and lost a bit of her baby fat from when she was 15. This Adora has a red coat that is so her. This Adora has never met Catra. This Adora has no reason to care about the fact that Catra is good. This Adora unknowingly has taken a knife and squeezed it between her ribs.

“What do you mean? You grew up in the Horde, so did I. We must have met at some point.”

Adora seemed to be surprised at Catra’s blatant desperation but still drew her eyebrows down in thought.

Adora rubbed the back of her neck. “Well I kinda knew you? We never were in the same groups growing up and I only met you after I had defected from the Horde and you became a force captain. You became my…enemy.” Adora during the middle of talking had looked down, frustrating Catra.

It’s been 5 years since Adora died. 5 years of not seeing her blue gray eyes. She already misses them.

Wait. Catra was still Horde in Adora’s world?

Bow seemed to pick up on this as well. “Catra is still part of the Horde in your world? What about She-Ra?”

Adora’s hands clenched, “There is no She-Ra my world.” She spat the word She-Ra like it was poison. Her eyes were still on the floor.

Catra gulped. “What did I do in your world Adora?”

That finally got Adora to look at her but it was with some unreadable expression. Catra for as long as she remembers has always been able to read Adora. Her skin crawls at the thought that she doesn’t really know this Adora.

“Way too many things to count Catra. After all, you weren't only a force captain, you became second in command.”

Catra heard Glimmer gasp behind her.

“You-You-re lying!” Glimmer stammered out.

Catra’s heart pounds in her chest. She hasn’t heard Adora’s voice say her name in so long, it warms her insides. It's a shame it's replaced by shearing cold moments later.

This Adora has only known Catra as the villain. As second in command to the Horde. How many people has Adora witnessed the other Catra harm? How much blood has the other Catra shed? Has the other Catra hurt Adora before?

Bow stepped in, most likely sensing Catra’s distress like the weird psychic he is. “Okay thank you Adora for your knowledge of your timeline. Do you think you are in the past or future?”

Adora’s face softened at Bow’s voice (a traitorous part of Catra screamed with jealousy) and seemed to ponder for a moment, “Probably the past. What’s the most recent thing that's happened to the rebellion?”

Glimmer rushed over to the edge of the spell circle and wagged her finger, “Nuh uh Horde Scum! We won’t tell you anything! That is clearly a way to gain information.”

Adora groaned and placed her head in her hands, “Glimmer, the Horde has much better ways at gaining information then this,” She gestured around her then to herself. “Plus I’m part of the rebellion in my world. I’m asking this to see when I've landed myself.”

Catra gets the feeling Adora is quite close with Glimmer in her timeline.

Glimmer visibly shrinks, “oh. Uhm well, we started building the princess alliance again. We just got Perfuma to join.”

Adora blinks in surprise. “Oh wow… That was around 3 years ago for me. But you all look my age, so did things start later?”

“You joined the Rebellion at 17?” Catra asked.

Adora shrugged, “Yeah pretty much.”

Glimmer leaned forward towards Adora’s face, “Can you tell us what happens in the future so we can prevent it?”

Bow leans in as well, “Probably not because so many things are different in Adora’s timeline. We don’t know how it will ripple with Catra being She-Ra and not part of the Horde in this timeline.”

They both are so close to Adora’s face now that Catra can see her squirming and sweat building on her forehead.

Catra snorts at such a familiar expression and stands up from where she’s been crouching in front of Adora. “Guys come on, give her some space.”

Both Glimmer and Bow startle and back off, laughing sheepishly.

Catra decides to drive the conversation back, “I agree with Bow. I read something a while ago about the butterfly effect. Telling us things upfront might change how history is supposed to go and it might make it worse.”

Adora winces.

Glimmer seemed satisfied at that response and placed her hands on her hips proudly, “Well then, I think-”

The doors behind them slammed open.

“Glimmer!” Angella’s voice rang out behind them.

The trio just froze while Adora just blinked at the sight behind them.

Catra slowly turned around to find a seemingly very angry Angella.

Angella took a few deep breaths and looked at the three of them then landed on Catra. She gulped.

“Catra, I thought I told you that you weren’t to talk to the Horde Soldier.” She then looked at Glimmer and then Bow, “and I thought you two knew better.”

“Queen Angella, wait, It’s my fault. I convinced them both to take me to talk to her. But we got information!”

“Should you four be discussing this in front of me?” Adora called from behind the room.

Everyone except Catra jumped in surprise. Catra turned to the side and waved a hand in Adora’s direction. “Queen Angella, meet Adora, someone who in her timeline fought for the rebellion. She’s not dangerous and can provide good information about the Horde and the future. Me, Glimmer and Bow thought it would be best for her to accompany and guide us on future missions.”

Adora looked up at her in surprise and with some unidentifiable emotion swirling in her blue irises. Catra hates that she can’t read Adora. She clenches one of her hands into a fist behind her back as her smile strains.

Aneglla looks between Catra and Adora and sighs in defeat. “Alright. I’m trusting you on this one Catra. Release Adora and bring her to a spare room please. I’m going back to sleep. All four of you should get some sleep as well.”

Aneglla shuts the door on the way out, dimming the room of light.

Bow squeals and jumps into the air, fist pumped. “New best friend squad addition!”

Catra sighs, Glimmer fondly rolls her eyes while Adora smiles softly.

Catra tries to get her heart under control in those moments.

Adora was back in Catra’s life. Catra in the other timeline might not have been a good person, but Catra can still show her here. For the first time in 5 years Catra feels like she can breathe.

_________

They take Adora out of her prison cell to show her the room she will be staying in.

“It’s one of our smaller rooms but it’s the only one available at the moment. You will be right between me and Catra.” Glimmer explains.

“Oh uhm thanks.” Adora says.

This is weird. It’s like when she came to the rebellion for the first time. Her arms fill up with goosebumps at the thought of really being in the past. With Catra in the mix as well. Her biggest wish is granted in this universe. She and Catra can be in the rebellion together. No fighting.

But why is it that every time she looks at Catra, all she sees is the warped portal version with her face half covered in black and her voice grating.

But Adora reminds herself that this Catra was chosen to be She-Ra. This Catra was in the rebellion. Even if the warped Catra’s voice echoes in her head she can try to be friendly.

Adora slows her walking to fall back to where Catra is and says, “Thank you for sticking up for me back there.”

Catra startles and looks over at Adora. Catra’s cheeks redden and she looks away quickly.

“Whatever, it’s no problem.” Catra mumbles.

Adora smiles at the familiar sight.

She looks back at the sword on Catra. Her mind flashes back to her tied up and Catra’s lips pulled up into a smirk. The smile runs off of Adora’s face.

Adora squeezes her eyes shut and takes a deep breath.

This isn’t the same Catra. This isn’t the same Catra.

Logically she knows this, so why is her Catra the only thing she can see?!

She speeds up just in time to reach what must be her room.

Glimmer and Bow stop in front of a door. If Adora turns her head around, she can recognize the hallway and the fact that Glimmer’s room is right next to her. She relaxes at the fact that she knows this place better than when she first arrived at Brightmoon and was in this situation.

“Well here is your room. I’ll see you tomorrow at the war room, K? Bye!” Glimmer then grabbed Bow and Catra and teleported out of the hallway.

Adora was now alone. Cool.

She peeks open the door to find a room nearly identical to her old one. Except it didn’t have her stuff like her staff or her old sword, and the maps, and the hard army bed in the center.

It was like the room she got 3 years ago.

And in the center of the room was her oldest enemy. The fluffy bed.

Adora rolls up her sleeves, cracks her fists and smirks.

She can do this. Second try is the charm after all.

_________

Catra stumbles as she is teleported into Glimmer’s room.

“You know we could have walked right.” Catra places her hands on her knees and heaves. “A little warning next time?”

Bow pats her back, “Hey this is the first time in a while that you’ve become nauseous with teleporting!”

“Wow, thanks Bow.” Catra deadpans, wipes her mouth and slowly stands up straight. Her legs wobble a bit. “Why did you teleport us Glimmer? We could have walked.”

Glimmer raised a finger, “Well, I wanted to ask some questions and this was the fastest way to do so.”

Catra sat down on the floor and waved a hand, “Well ask away.”

Bow leaned against the wall while Glimmer sat in front of Catra.

“First,” Glimmer started. “Was she the friend you were talking about?”

Catra groaned and tossed her head back. “Yeah she is. But she also doesn’t know me. That Adora only knows me as a villain. I thought maybe we could get along but when she talked to me back there, she seemed to regret it and left the conversation.” Catra covered her face with her hand remembering the way her face had heated up. Adora at 20 years old became unfairly even more attractive.

“But she tried to talk to you! That shows she is probably willing. Give her time.” Bow chimed in.

“I hate waiting,” Catra groaned.

Glimmer layed back on the ground. “Did you guys notice how tired she looked?”

Yeah she did. The dark circles that looked almost carved under Adora’s eyes worried her.

Catra sighed, “how hard do you think her world was? With me in the horde and no She-Ra.”

Bow bit his lip, “I don’t know.”

“Hopefully she can get some sleep tonight.” Said Glimmer.

“We have had a long day-” Bow started, “So how about a best friend squad sleepover?”

“I’m up for it.” Catra says, stretching her arms. She stands up and offers a hand to Glimmer. Glimmer grabs it and is pulled up.

Glimmer claps her hand together, “Alright! Let’s get started.”

They end up all bunking on Glimmer's bed covered in blankets and pillows. The trio changed into pajamas and is now huddled up. The glass overhead lights are dimmed and the sound of water flowing calmed Catra. The exhaustion seemed to finally catch up with her body and her muscles ached with use. She sighed and closed her eyes as she melted into the soft and comforting mattress. Catra heard Glimmer and Bow do the same thing.

Some time had passed when the door creaked. Catra’s ear twitched in response. Propping herself on her elbows and squinting her eyes open revealed light seeping through the door. Glimmer groaned next to her while Bow shuffled up to look over the hanging bed. Glimmer soon did the same.

Adora’s head peeked through the door. She looked frazzled and disoriented. Panic was clear as day in her eyes. Catra immediately sat up straighter and started to get ready to jump off. Then Catra paused when she noticed after leaning forward a bit that Adora was covered in feathers.

Adora’s head swivels around as she whisper yelled into the quiet room, “Glimmer, I think I killed the bed. What do I-” Adora pauses when she sees Glimmer, Bow and Catra watching her from above. Adora smiles nervously and waves a bit. It warms Catras insides as she bites the side of her mouth to keep from laughing.

Glimmer has no reservations about such things and snorts at the sight before her. “Did you get in a fight with your bed?” Glimmer askes while giggling.

Adora fully steps into the room plunging them into darkness but Catra can still see her waving her arms around causing feathers to go everywhere, “well you see I always melt into the bed and get stuck and I thought I could battle it into becoming harder and more comfy? Also I’m not used to sleeping in complete silence. In my timeline there is a lot of noise..uhm so yeah.”

Battle a bed? Catra is startled into a laugh and then into giggles. This whole situation was so Adora that Catra couldn’t stop laughing. Her sides started to hurt from where she was hugging them. God she missed Adora’s adorable (no pun intended.) stupidity.

“You-you tried to battle the bed?” Catra weezed.

Adora sniffled and put her head up, “w-well, it wouldn’t-hey! I already explained my reasoning.” She crossed her arms.

“Mhm.” Catra smirked smugly then snorted. “Alright dummy. Get up here! We are supposed to be having a sleepover. This timeline’s brightmoon addition.”

Adora laughed softly at that. Glimmer and Bow exchanged a look and Catra glared at them in return.

Adora quickly and efficiently pulled off her boots and slipped out of her coat leaving her in her tight white shirt and pants. Untying her hair and the belt, Adora placed her stuff on the table. Catra then watched as she tried to climb up the steps to Glimmer’s bed. Catra stifled a laugh as Adora almost fell off multiple times.

She eventually landed on the bed and shrieked as she was consumed by the bed's fluffiness.

Bow went to try and save her from being suffocated while Glimmer and Catra started setting up an area for Adora not to sink into. They grabbed extra pillows and blankets and made sort of a cocoon for Adora to shuffle into.

Adora is saved by Bow and is led into the cocoon. Everyone gets back into their positions. Once everyone is in position, Catra turns over to look at Adora. Adora must have been exhausted because she is already bundled up with her eyes closed and mouth open. Catra flushes when she realizes that they are rather…close.(She is so glad Adora’s eyes are closed right now) Catra can see a light scar Adora got when she was 14 on her eyebrow and small scratch mark scars on her right cheek. Catra pauses at that and her breath catches when she leans closer to get a better look. She brings up her hand and stares at her claws, then Adora’s scar. She has to gulp and clench her fists to keep herself from launching herself at Adora for a tight hug.

Catra pulls her fist back and pulls herself tight just watching Adora. She wants Adora to look at her with those stormy gray blue eyes. She wants to run her hands along Adora’s pale skin and trace the scars the other Catra has inflicted.

It must have been quite a bit of time because Bow and Glimmer were snoring peacefully.

“I know you have been staring at me” Adora shuffled and opened her eyes. “If you have something to say, say it.” She whispered.

She should say something. Like how she was sorry, or that she is glad Adora is here but Catra’s mind drew a blank and all she could do was smile softly, her eyes crinkling at the edges, she giggled and said, “HI.”

Adora blinked and for the first time today seemed to really look at Catra. Her eyes seemed to shine blue in the light. Then Adora giggled too and reached out her hand fumbling to grab Catras. She gave it to Adora. Adora squeezed it, gave Catra a dopey happy grin and said back, “Hi.”
