Chapter Text
So to make this long story short... About exactly two years ago, the first chapter of my main fic was released, and the de facto day the AU took shape.
A year later, I released the animatic I made for the fic! So nothing more fair that, for the second anniversary, I get to show some frames I had discarded from the full thing, sketches which I made into full illustrations just for today - and some explanations for each!
The first (depicting “Rochas”. the stone copy of Richas) was one I had been excited to put in the animatic, but due to there being a LOT to show in the song and not enough time, this one had to go. That and in light of the news going around at the time (if you know you know), I had also to cut down a LOT of planned shots.
The second (a more detailed showcase of the Reality Dose being crafted + my interpretation of a brewing stand) I planned for the three to watch the stand and look at each other, but felt it would’ve been redundant with the next part of the animatic (namely Cellbit and Philza sharing a look) so it was replaced with just Bad’s hand holding the fermented spider eyes, and a quick view of the Reality Dose.
The third (a reaction shot of Tubbo first seeing “CucurEvil”), I had seriously debated whether to keep this one or the short sequence of Fred and images associated with them, along with the shot of “CucurEvil” himself having already broken the bars. In the end I had to put this one aside and keep the bars intact. It did leave a nice jumpscare effect tho XD
The fourth (depicting Philza’s reaction to finding the Birdhouse), there was gonna have a sequence of him rushing into the woods and leading up to this shot. Problem was, I didn’t know how to parallax yet ^^; So had to cut corners on that and replace with shots of crows flying and reacting.
The fifth… Ah yes. I cut this one not even because of time constraint or not fitting the tone. It was a spoiler at the time. Basically just how Phil escaped the Birdhouse in this AU - through respawning back in the bunker by his own hands, and his own axe. Instead I went for the Implications™, but looking back maybe I should’ve put this one in… Oh well.
The sixth (depicting a filled out form with Phil’s info, an envelope and a single Risus pill) was part of an alternate take on the bit before the outro - just a quick shot of Mike saying his line, Phil’s reaction and him back in the bunker, eyeing an empty bottle of Risus and that cementing his decision to get the pills, then mini montage of him talking to Cucurucho, getting the medicine, and then the reaction of the Morning Crew. But by then I was too tired to draw people, so I replaced that whole sequence with multiple locations at Quesadilla at different hours of the day XD
The seventh and last (depicting Phil at an endless poppy field under a blue sky) was part of the final shots - a lot more symbolic in nature than literal. It was supposed to be a freeze frame bonus that happens just before Chayanne and Tallulah turn around at the end. In compensation, I did draw this one concept at least twice :3 (thrice now)
