Summary
| “Exactly,” Seokjin jumps up again, clapping like Namjoon has finally caught onto the glaring point he’s been trying to make. “It’s acting! So we act. We’re star-crossed lovers today and onward, Kim Namjoon. We’re mad for each other. I’m your muse, you’re my guide like a star in the night, we complete the worst and best parts of one another.”
Namjoon stares at him from the other side of the smoke, half-expecting the closet door to swing open and a cameraman to jump out and announce this has all been some sort of bizarre prank initiation ceremony, a test to matriculate him into the society of upperclassman theater. But it doesn’t happen, and Namjoon has no choice but begin to suspect that Seokjin is considerably out of his mind. Who even suggests something like that? Fake date to chase the high of immersive acting? Is he insane?
“Yeah,” Namjoon says flatly after the world’s longest, and most loaded pause, “we’re not doing that.”
Or, the one where rivals Namjoon and Seokjin, two nepotism-steeped tortured poets, decide to give the greatest performance of their lives and hope that no one catches onto the fact that every second of it is a lie.
Until it stops being one.
