Summary
Eva has spent a lifetime in the shadows-first as a child stolen by Hydra, then as a ghost of their experiments. When she wakes in a safehouse with no memory of how she got there, she’s told she’s free. But freedom is an unfamiliar thing, and the man watching over her, James Buchanan Barnes, is just as much of a mystery.
Bucky knows what it is to be a weapon repurposed into a person. He sees it in Eva’s careful movements, in the way she listens more than she speaks, in the haunted look in her eyes when she thinks no one is watching. But she trusts him - instinctively, completely - and that shakes him more than he’s willing to admit.
As they evade Black Dawn, the last remnants of Hydra’s twisted legacy, Bucky and Eva search for a past neither of them can fully remember and a future neither of them believes they deserve.
