Kakashi pov

Kakashi Hatake has been hearing whispers around her as long as she can remember. Whether they may be from friends, acquaintances or strangers. First they were the product of admiration for her father then eventually turned to hate when her father broke the rules.

Now she was 6 years old and a newly minted chunnin under the apprenticeship of Minato Namikaze. Minato sensei was young and at times reminds her of her father in the way he gives affection so easily. He frequently pats her head, gives her hugs. He was silly and had a girlfriend whom insists to call her Kushina nee-san. 

It was one of those days where she felt detached from everything and felt a strange feeling, something like loneliness.

She had been feeling like this ever since her sensei Minato and Kushina had been posted to the war front for 2 months. She didn't realize just how much she misses them. They were practically the only people she interacted with.

Sometimes Gai chases her around demanding challenges shouting my 'eternal rival' at her. She sometimes indulges but most of the time just ignores him. When she is too tired to train anymore she just hangs around the village and watches her age peers like Gai, Obito and Rin. They had been sort of friends before. Well before her father killed himself anyway.

It’s one of those dark, lonely nights again. She is trying to sleep in her futon but sleep just wouldn't come. Suddenly she sees a bright light and it all just fades to white.

When she opens her eyes she sees she is surrounded by a multitude of people. Some she recognizes and some she doesn't. There was the Sandaime, clan heads and some heirs, Minato sensei, Kushina, some of her previous classmates and the 3 sannin whom she recognizes.

She sees Minato sensei and Kushina san come over to her. Minato asks in a worried tone, "Kakashi are you okay. Have you been eating properly and you are not hurt, are you?". Kakashi says trying not to sound too eager, " I'm fine sensei, you don't have to start mother henning now." Kushina just hugs her and just as she's released she gets picked up again by minato who now hugs her tightly.

Suddenly a woman in beautiful pale white dress appears amongst the confusion and chatter of the people and says, "I have summoned you all here to show you the future to prevent unnecessary suffering of the shinobi world.

Many people shout, "Where are they and who is she?"

The woman says, "I am Iris and you can say that I am of a superior world than yours. This is a separate dimension and I have control over all of you. There will be no unnecessary fighting and no one will feel exhaustion or sleep here so you can focus on what I am about to show you. There will be breaks if people need it to discuss the things you learn here. Please get seated. Now without further ado we will start."

Kakashi, Minato and Kushina sit down side by side and she watches Obito and Rin sitting together from the corner of her eye and feels melancholic remembering their not-friendship previously. She sees Gai who gives her a wave sitting with Kureinai, Asuma and Genma. She nods quickly in his direction.

There appears a big screen and all of people get seated albeit a little reluctantly as they cannot do anything anyways so they might as well watch it. The screen flashes white and there appears 'Naruto' in bold letters.

Everyone’s eyes are focused on the screen. Everyone wonders about who 'Naruto' is. Iris seeing the confusion speaks, " Naruto is a person that will be born in the future who would have been very important for the survival of the shinobi world. Though it is called Naruto but the show will be focusing on some different characters at the beginning for it to make sense as it will be shown in different fragments of past, present and future." Jiraiya who was looking intently to the girl thinks, 'Does this mean this 'Naruto' is the child of the prophecy?'.

A title appears on the screen named, "Kakashi's wrath". Someone comments, "Does this mean Hatake plays an important role in the future." Nobody deigns to answer and just watch the screen intently.

An ANBU squad of three is shown running at very high speeds towards somewhere specific with one overtaking the others by a huge margin. It looks like they have to reach somewhere quickly and clearly the one ahead is getting very impatient and restless. 

"The one ahead has silver spiky hair, so it could only mean that it is Kakashi. "Shikaku says sitting with his team completing the InoShikaCho trio. They were her father's students and Shikaku was her cousin from her mother's side. They were one of the only people who come to her father's funeral. Other people despised him for starting the 3rd Great Ninja War.

Suddenly many blank masked shinobi come from above mainly targeting the silver haired ANBU who signs the other two to get aside and makes the signs of 'Shadow Clone Jutsu'. Suddenly 3 clones emerge and together they ruthlessly strike down all the blank masked shinobi in under a minute. She was using only her kunai and a strange lightening jutsu while moving at a speed too fast to see.

Everybody starts chattering about what they saw. They were in awe of her prowess and some winced at the ruthlessness but they were all battle hardened shinobi so there was not much 

"Those looked like 'Root' ninja", says Orochimaru quietly so that only his teammates heard it, while looking calculative. Others had realized this too and looked forward for more information as to why 'Root' was targeting Kakashi.

Kakashi is just watching the screen intently trying to determine whether it's really her. If it is then how old is she, when did she get in ANBU, is she a captain yet and why were they targeting her. She silently clutches to Minato closer who just places her between him and Kushina and silently starts to pat her head. Kushina also pulls her closer and says, "It's alright, Dattebane."

At the same time, Gai and Rin look excited while Obito is feeling a mixture between feeling happy for Kakashi or sullen on how strong she became and whether he will ever really catch up to her.

One of the ANBU in a Tanuki mask mutters in a slightly awed voice, "Damn she's livid. She killed 15 ANBU level shinobi in under a minute". The other one in the cat mask says, "Well what do you expect, her kid just got kidnapped". "The kid's name is Naruto right?", Raccoon asks while in thought. "Yes it's Naruto, Naruto Uzumaki". The silver haired ANBU with a hound mask snaps, "Quit chattering", trying to control herself and dispels her shadow clones. They reply in unison, "Yes, Taichou". 

"Kakashi you made an ANBU captain, I'm glad you can protect yourself", says Minato while not exactly happy at Kakashi being in ANBU but relieved at her strength. He thinks while sighing, 'And what is up with the Uzumaki and Kakashi being a mother. But she is so small and only six.' He sighs again thinking, 'but then again Kakashi will be an adult by then . He feels like an overprotective father and brother at the same time.

Jiraiya is largely silent before saying something. ‘I did not expect that.’

Kushina who hears him says, "Neither did I. And who is this Uzumaki they are talking about", her mind running through the possibilities.

They increase their speed and after some time they catch up to the assailants who have kidnapped the aforementioned child. They see that the child is blonde and held my one of the ninja like a sack of potatoes. The silver haired ANBU suddenly appears next to the 'Kumo' ninja and just slams her 'Chidori' in the ninja's heart killing him while her clone takes the child back to safety. Some more 'Kumo' ninja attack her. A part of them are stopped by her teammates.

The silver haired ANBU takes off her mask when something red glints on her face when one of the 'Kumo' nin shouts scared, "Copy Ninja Kakashi Hatake, the woman of a thousand jutsu", while some other whisper, "Kakashi of the Sharingan". Then the ANBU now revealed to be Kakashi who's Sharingan is now fully shown with three full 'Tomoe' spinning in a lazy circle.

"What is the meaning of this", exclaimed Fugaku Uchiha the 20 year old clan head feeling enraged. Obito looks confused at the Sharingan.

Several other people nodded also confused at how an outsider is allowed to possess a Sharingan.

Kushina and Minato push Kakashi behind them who is speechless. Kushina is glaring at anyone who dares to look at her the wrong way. She was very protective over Kakashi when her maternal instincts came into play. 

"I'm sure that there must be some reason behind Kakashi possessing the Sharingan or else the Uchiha clan would have taken the Sharingan back with Kakashi being persecuted," says Minato trying to placate the people especially the Uchihas showing every bit of future leader he would become despite only being 16 himself.

The Sandaime nods and agrees with Minato which calms down the people further.

The killing intent emitted by was palpable which nearly crushed the remaining Kumo nin, who are then quickly killed by her with her face dark and eyes emotionless. She grabs open all of the dead shinobi's mouths and sees a black ugly seal painting over half of the ninja's tongue. She says her face dark, "Damn root. You will fucking pay for this Danzo. I'll make sure of it. These Kumo nin were baited by Root into them stealing the jinchuriki when the Hyuuga kidnapping in guise of a peace treaty failed."

At the confirmation of being 'Root' many people gasp knowing what kind of work they did.

The Sandaime just winces and thinks, 'What did you do this time Danzo?'.

"The 'Root' ninja are sealed. Likely to prevent any secrets from leaving their mouths," remarks Orochimaru.

'If this child is the jinchuriki then I'm likely dead, 'ttebane', thinks Kushina a little shocked.

Minato thinks about it and then his eye twitches about Kakashi swearing and looks towards her. She looks at him and says, "What", in a deadpan voice as if sensing what he was thinking about. He just shakes his head and turns his head towards the screen.

The killing intent was going haywire which suddenly stops when a shrill cry is heard through the clearing. She kneels down, takes off her bloody gloves and holds out her arms when a blonde blur comes crashing to her and tackles her. She holds her ground and tightly hugs Naruto a relieved expression filling her eyes. The child looks about 3 years old with straight blonde hair and blue eyes. Naruto cries," Mom I was so scared, 'Dattebayo'." Kakashi just holds her tightly." You're safe now, I won't let anything happen to you", says Kakashi while silently promising her the same and says quietly so Naruto can't hear, 'I would die before that'.

"What the fuck?" Jiraiya yells before he gets hit on the head by Tsunade for his crude language. There are kids here.

"The girl has Minato's features but has Kushina's verbal tic. And not to mention an Uzumaki. The only possibility is that she is their daughter and Kakashi adopted her when something happened to them." says Shikaku looking conflicted.

Minato and Kushina blush coming to the same conclusion and get saddened at the news of their deaths.

"Thankyou Kakashi", they both say to Kakashi from their hearts but still look a little bitter. Kakashi looks like like she is about to cry at the mention of them also leaving her like her father, but tries to control herself and thinks that good shinobi do not show their emotions. They notice this and together they hug Kakashi who now starts sobbing at the loss openly.

After some time Naruto falls asleep. Kakashi then calls the other two over and says, "Genma, Yugao, you two did not see anything. You were never present here. Is that understood." They reply, "Yes Taichou", looking a bit reluctant but ultimately agree.

The scene ends.

Then the room erupts.

Chapter Text

People started talking. Someone 'screeched'. 'Likely an Uchiha' people thought bemusedly because Uchiha do not screech. Perhaps they were justified to screech a little here. After all the Sharingan zealously guarded by the Uchiha has been allowed to remain in someone's head.

Minato checked the room for any presence of Danzo but did not find him. He vows to kill Danzo. He knows that he tried to kidnap his future daughter and gave Kakashi grief over it. He doesn't know what else he did if he was willing to go this far. So he just puts on a smile and acts that he in not planning the death of a council member right this second. He shares a look with Kushina and the glint in her eye tells him that she is thinking the same exact thing because Kakashi felt like family to both of them just after one year of meeting her. Both of them were orphans. This caused them to be very murderously  protective over whom they considered family.

Kakashi at this point had stopped sobbing and escaped out of the embrace while still sitting very close to both Minato and Kushina. She seemed to be trying to maintain a poker face and ignore the elephant in the room. Many people seemed to be staring at her.

Many people seemed squeamish at the idea of a child being kidnapped so easily while shifting uncomfortably. This cannot be allowed to happen. Who knows what else the Sandaime has Danzo allowed to do as he pleased. The people stared pointedly at the Sandaime for answers who just winced in his seat and stared ahead while hoping the next segment starts soon. Tsunade just pursed her lips looking away purposely from the Sandaime while inside she was horrified. Orochimaru just raised his eyebrows.

Shikaku just sighs and thinks, 'Troublesome' and closes his eyes. His mind running a thousand miles per hour.

Obito just thinks that Kakashi looked very cool while not understanding the full picture. The case was the same with his age group. While Genma looks interested.

The chatter has almost died down. Iris speaks, "The next segment is about to start. Please be quiet." 

A title appears on the screen named, "At the Memorial stone".

A teenager wearing blue is seen sitting in front of one of the graves. On close up the teenager has shoulder length silver hair with a navy blue mask covering their face. One eye is covered with the hitae-ate . It is raining quite heavily so that they look like a drowned rat. They are just staring at the stone with a deadened eye. A voice calls, "Kakashi-san", while sliding up the umbrella so it shields both of them from the rain. 'Kakashi' looks up and says, "You're Itachi", with slight apprehension. "Yes", 'Itachi' replies softly. He looks about 4 years of age. "Are you here to accuse me of stealing the Sharingan too?", Kakashi asks sounding resigned. "No, I believed you when you said it was a gift from him. Father agreed too", Itachi replies honestly, "Nee-san", he adds quietly with an innocent expression on his face. Only the widening of her sole uncovered eye displays any shock.

'He looks like Mikoto-chan', thinks Kushina. 'So cute'. 

"The Sharingan is not stolen after all, as confirmed in this scene", says Minato looking at Fugaku pointedly. The man just sighs and agrees. Minato sits back satisfied.

Kakashi thinks tensed, 'Why am I sitting there. Who is it. So the Sharingan was a gift. But from who".

The scene abruptly changes. The front of a house. The house seems large and well maintained. A woman comes into focus. She is dark haired. "Thankyou for taking care of Itachi while I go run some errands", she says. "No problem Mikoto-san", a boy says, an Uchiwa fan on his back while smiling. Kakashi looks sullen while standing in the back with another girl with purple stripes on her face. Both are likely her teammates. Mikoto leaves and they enter the house.

"This is probably a D-rank mission", someone says.

"Looks like Minato got even more brats", says Jiraiya while smirking towards Minato.

"Hey! that's me and Rin", Obito says excitedly. Rin just nods while smiling. Minato catches their eye and smiles at them both.

Kakashi just pouts, "Well I guess its fine but you better not get in my way dead last", feeling happy inside, because believe it or not Kakashi actually likes both of them.

Minato just chops her head lightly and says, "Kakashi, be nice". Kakashi grumbles.

Suddenly a blur comes towards Kakashi and latches itself to her legs. "Kashi-nee-san", the boy of 1 or 2 years of age whispers. "Itachi-chan", she says. He looks towards her expectantly. Kakashi picks him up with a sigh but willingly nonetheless. Itachi smiles and hugs her. "He only likes you", says Obito pouting. "Tch. Maybe its because you're an idiot", deadpans Kakashi. "You", Obito shouts. "Now, now don't fight you two", Rin says with a sweet smile but the glint in her eyes tells something different. Both of them gulp and look away at the same time.

"RIVAL, how YOUTHFUL!. You have such a wonderful team", says Gai while dramatically crying.

"Yeah yeah, whatever", says Kakashi feeling a little bashful. 

"So Hip-and-cool. As expected from my Eternal Rival", says Gai. Someone shushes him wincing at the loud voice.

"Rin-chan you're scary", says Obito. Kakashi wholeheartedly agrees. She knows when to pick her battles.

The scene ends. The scene shifts back to the memorial stone. Suddenly Kakashi lifts up a hand in the air. Itachi watches warily but not scared. The hand lands in his hair and thoroughly musses it up. "Thanks kid", with a slight crinkle in her eye giving the indication of her smiling. 

"Kakashi seems really good at babysitting", many note while planning on roping her to babysit their kids in the future.

The focus shifts to the memorial stone where Kakashi gets up and leaves while whispering, "I'll be back", but not before caressing two names softly on the stone, "Obito Uchiha" and "Rin Nohara".

The atmosphere shifts and becomes somber again.

'Just how much Kakashi is going to loose', thinks Minato while pursing his lips while mourning his yet-to-be students.

All the happiness drains out of Kakashi while she just stares ahead with wide eyes. Obito and Rin were in a similar state.

Many just watch with resigned sympathetic eyes because everyone present there has lost someone as well.

"Then I was the one who gave Kakashi the Sharingan as a gift", Obito notes quietly. Even the small excitement on activating the Sharingan gets quickly snuffed out. Many nod but do not say anything.

Kakashi and Itachi are seen walking in the distance, where Itachi says with a puppy dog look in his eyes, "Can we have Dango?" . "Sure kid. You and your Dango", she sweat-drops. Her eyes crinkle slightly because she is just too soft on kids. The dark aura around her seems a little less oppressing. 

The scene ends

A loud chatter again fills the room.

""Well atleast the Sharingan is not stolen if the scene is supposedly true", says someone. Quite a few people nod at that.

"Who is the Uchiha boy", asks Orochimaru, looking interested.

"Well it is Mikoto-chan's son, he looks so much like her", says Kushina while smiling at Mikoto who smiles back at her.

"He is most likely my son as well, as Mikoto and I are betrothed and we were thinking of naming our first born son as Itachi anyway", says Fugaku while blushing a little when he looks at Mikoto.

"He was so cute", whispers Mikoto to him and watches Fugaku blush further. Kushina laughs at him.

"The next question would be about the person who gave Kakashi the Sharingan".

"It could be Obito Uchiha. He was her dead teammate after all. But we will see in the future the exact person behind it".

Suddenly Iris materializes before everyone and starts speaking. "Well I guess you must be done with your discussions so we can start with the new scene".

The screen lights up again and the title appears, "The 4th great ninja war".

'When will this cycle of violence end', thinks Jiraiya pensive.

Tsunade feels bitter. The endless war has already taken so much away from her. 

Most just seem resigned and weary.

The 3rd ninja war has just started and already another war.

A man appears to jump on a wooden platform. He has short back hair and wears a red clouds patterned cloak along with an orange swirly mask. "Now, are all of you finally prepared to listen", he says. The man has a deep voice.

"First tell us why are you trying to win over Sasuke?", says a young man with red hair, a tattoo on his forehead with the kanji for love and dark circles. He carries a gourd on his back.

'What is this place?, who is the masked man?, who is the red haired teenager? And who's this Sasuke they are talking about', many think.

"Sharingan that actually acquire the Susanno are quite rare. I like to stock up on good eyes. By battling the 5 kage he'd hone his visual prowess even further which is exactly why I sent him here. I was hoping to weaken the 5 kage and atleast take some of you hostage but I guess that was too much to ask. 

Many inhale in surprise.

The Uchiha tense at the implications. The Sasuke they mentioned must be an Uchiha. How did the man get a hand on him.

People look towards the Uchiha for answers. "The Sharingan has a final ultimate form called the Mangekyo. It gives the user a special ability along with the power to use the Susanno. It is the ultimate defense of the Uchiha", Fugaku explains after brief consideration with Mikoto. The future depends on the truth. 

Many people look skeptical and bewildered trying to process what just came out. 

The topic shifts. 

"I believe this is a 5 kage summit according to what the ,asked man spoke. And this supposedly Uchiha Sasuke must be manipulated by the same man to attack the 5 kage", speaks Orochimaru clinically.

Murmers spread through.

No one speaks further and the scene goes on.

"Take us hostage, whatever for?", says a brown haired woman. She looks of Kiri descent. She is wearing blue and stands in a group of 6-7 people of various villages including the red haired teenager.

"To ensure that project Tsukuyomi was implemented smoothly."

"Project Tsukuyomi?", mutters Minato while thinking. Many seem confused.

"I'm truly surprised that the infamous Madara Uchiha is still alive. But I'm confused why do you of all people need such roundabout tactics. With your power you ought to be able to bring any plan to fruition easily", asks the Tsuchikage skeptical. 

Gasps echo throughout the room. The mere mention of Madara can still course fear throughout the older generation.

"How many years is this in the future. Madara can't still be alive!", exclaims Fugaku.

"I believe that it is quite a few years from now on seeing the Tsuchikage. He looks quite old", says the Sandaime.

"Yes, I believe that is true. It must be atleast 20-25 years from now on", says Shikaku.

"My injuries from the battle with the 1st Hokage Hashirama were too severe. I currently have little power. I am but a shell of my former self", says 'Madara'.

"That does match with what the Tsuchikage said", someone mutters.

"Is this a plan to restore yourself?", asks a blonde man clearly of Kumogakure. 

The man just nods and hnns. "You could say that. But that's not all."

"What are you scheming. Just what is the project Tsukuyomi?", asks an old man. He looks of Iron country.

"I want to take my time talking to you. Let me sit down."

"We're asking you what kind of plan it is!", asks a man with black clothes and purple face paint. He wears a Suna hitae-ate.

The man just points his finger above. His sole eye can be seen through the eyehole. He has a sharingan with 3 tomoe. "All shall become one with me and result in a complete possession form that unites all".

"Become one? What does he mean by that. Whatever he is planning includes the fate of the world according to what he says", says Shikaku looking weary.

Everyone clearly agrees with his assessment even if some look a little doubtful.

This causes some eyes to widen and everyone looks at him with sharp eyes. 

"Become one? Unite all? What do you mean", asks the Tsuchikage.

The man's Sharingan eye narrows and he says, "The Uchiha have an ancient stone tablet that has been passed down through the generations. It still exists underground in the Hidden Leaf Village." A room appears with green painted walls. There are two Uchiwa fans on both sides of the front face wall. A stone tablet is kept between them. 

"Upon it are written secrets engraved by the Sage of the Six Paths himself. It cannot be read unless you possess ocular powers. With the Sharingan, the Mangekyo Sharingan and Rinnegan, in that order, the contents become increasingly visible. 

People once again look at the Uchiha apprehensive. "Yes the tablet does exist. It is kept in a hidden room of the Naka shrine", says Mikoto after exchanging a nod with Fugaku.

Obito just nods silently. He's heard about it. But only those with awakened Sharingan are allowed to go in there.

People back down after that. 

Someone asks, "What is the Rinnegan. Does the Sharingan have a further stage to evolve into the Rinnegan?".

Only a few people recognize the name which includes the Hyuuga.

"Unlikely. The Rinnegan has not been seen for centuries. Rumor has it the Sage of the Six Paths himself had the Rinnegan," says Hiashi Hyuuga.

The Tsuchikage starts to say, "Your story is unlikely. The Sage of the Six Paths doesn't...".

Madara interrupts him and says, "It is the truth!. He did exist. And he left the stone tablet."

"Don't change the subject!", says the Raikage and jumps down from his perch. The room looks like a fight took place there. "What does your plan have to do with the Sage of the Six Paths?!".

"Do you know why he became a legendary figure and a godlike figure that is revered as a god of ninja?". Behind the man a silhouette appears of the Sage of the six paths with the Rinnegan. "There lies the link between my plan and this man."

"Madara Uchiha... You possess the Mangekyo Sharingan and among the Akatsuki, there was one who possessed the Rinnegan. You know everything, don't you?," asks the Mizukage.

"So someone does possess the Rinnegan in this day and age", says Minato. Jiraiya just glares at the screen wondering what happened.

"What is this Akatsuki? Is this an organization operated by Madara?", says Shikaku already thinking about the implications of this.

"We're listening", says the Tsuchikage.

"He once saved the world from a certain monster.", says Madara.

"Monster?", asks the Kazekage, his question's intent clear.

"Gaara, you also had one part of that monster sealed inside you. That monster was the combination of every Tailed Beast in existence. Something that possessed the most powerful chakra. The ten-tails", says Madara.

A man appears standing on a cliff against a beast with 10 tails with one huge Sharingan eye. Everyone's eyes widen.

"Aren't there only nine Tailed Beasts?!", a Suna kunoichi with four ponytails shouts.

"The ten-tails! How could a creature like this exist", someone shouts.

" I just told you. It was the combination of all the Tailed Beasts.

"The combined might of the all the tailed beasts", says Orochimaru.

Some people look green. The kids just listen with rapt attention.

"Shukaku, Gaara's Tailed Beast known as... the One-Tails."

"The fiery Monster Cat of the Hidden Cloud's Yugito Nii's... the Two-Tails".

"The former Mizukage's... the Three-Tails."

"Roshi of the Lava Style's... the Four-Tails."

"Han of the Hidden Stone's... the Five-Tails."

"The Rogue Ninja Utakata's... the Six-Tails."

"Fuu of the Hidden Waterfalls'... the Seven-Tails."

"Raikage's younger brother, Killer Bee's... the Eight-Tails."

"And the fox spirit of the Hidden Leaf... the Nine-Tails."

As Madara speaks, glimpses of both the beast and the jinchuriki appear.

"These are all the people who will be the jinchuriki in the future", Minato says only loud enough for Kushina to hear.

"And the Nine-Tails jinchuriki is our daughter. She looks so grown up", Kushina says a little emotional.

Minato blushes a little. Kakashi just stares at the person she would have adopted some day.

"The Ten-Tails' chakra was simply divided up into the nine Tailed Beasts, by the Sage of the Six Paths."

"I don't like where this story is headed. Is that why the Akatsuki are gathering the Tailed Beasts?", says the Suna-nin with the face paint.

"The Akatsuki are gathering the Tailed Beasts. They must be a very powerful group of shinobi to be able to do that. Most of them S-rank even", says Shikaku, 'how troublesome'. 

"But what exactly do they intend to do with them?!", someone exclaims.

"The Sage of the Six Paths developed a certain ninjutsu in order to protect the world from the Ten-Tails. Even today, that ninjutsu is still being secretly passed down. It is the Sealing Jutsu process for Jinchuriki. Yes, the Sage of the Six Paths was the Ten-Tails' Jinchuriki. In order to suppress it, he sealed the Ten-Tails within his body. The Sage, who saved a world terrorized by the Ten-Tails, became a savior and won praise as a god. But if the Sage died, the powerful and demonic chakra of the Ten-Tails would once again be released unto the world. Fearing this, at the time of his death, the Sage of the Six Paths summoned every last ounce of his power to partition the Ten-Tails' chakra into nine parts and scattered them across the world. Then he sealed the Ten-Tails' body, now devoid of chakra, and hurled it into the sky. And it became the moon", says Madara.

'So even the Sage of the Six Paths was a jinchuriki', thinks Kushina.

"What a tall tale! As if a human could do such a thing", says a Kumo-nin with white hair.

"When he became the Jinchuriki of the Ten-Tails, the Sage of the Six Paths went beyond the realm of humans." , says Madara.

"I understand now that you seek that inhuman power by gathering the chakra of the nine, namely all, of the Tailed Beasts. But what will you do with all that power?", asks the iron samurai.

"Revive the Ten-Tails. And I will become the Ten-Tail's Jinchuriki. I will use its power to strengthen my ocular powers, and activate a certain jutsu.", replies Madara.

"Revive the Ten-Tails. Just how powerful the Ten-Tails would be if a singular beast could destroy mountains!", excalims Minato.

'Does he intend to control the Ten-Tails and cast a genjutsu with his Sharingan. That could be possible as Madara was rumored to have the Eternal Mangekyo Sharingan after all', thinks Fugaku feeling faint. He leans on Mikoto who seems to come to the same conclusion.

"A certain jutsu?! What is it? What do you intend to do?", asks the Tsuchikage.

"A Super Genjutsu, where I project my eyes off the moon. Infinite Tsukuyomi. I will cast a genjutsu on every human that walks the earth. And in that genjutsu, I will control all humans and unify the world. Everything will become one with me, everything will be united. That is my Project Tsuki no Me.

"Interesting. A genjutsu of this scale. But it must be possible with the help of the Juubi.

People just try to take in what they had seen but it still seems outlandish to them.

"Stop joking around! I'm not handing the world over to you!", the Raikage shouts.

"Peace that exists only as an illusion is deception. Peace is only meaningful when it is genuinely achieved in the real world", says Gaara.

"So what exists inside such a world? There is no hope, no dreams! It's just an escape!", the Mizukage exclaims.

"Unite the world, huh? Danzo mentioned something similar.  But instead of uniting the world, it just sounds like you want to make the world yours!", exclaims the Tsuchikage.

"All this talk and yet, what have you Five Kage accomplished? You of all people should know by now... there is no such thing as hope. To hope is equivalent to giving up, and it's the biggest deception of all. Turn over the remaining Eight-Tails and Nine-Tails, and cooperate with my plan. Or there will be war", Madara says somewhat condescendingly.

"The Akatsuki have already captured the Seven-Tailed Beasts. The situation is even more serious than I thought", says Shikaku.

'Madara really does believe that peace can be achieved through the Infinite Tsukuyomi!', thinks Jiraiya.

"War you say?", Gaara says.

"The Eight-Tails? What are you talking about? Didn't you get Bee?", Raikage asks enraged.

"The attempt to capture the Eight-Tails failed and he escaped. He is a ninja who is a perfect Jinchuriki. Only your younger brother has it what it takes", Madara replies.

"HUH?!", Raikage too shocked.

"Yeah, I sort of had a feeling about that.", says a Kumo-nin with white hair and dark skin.

"That idiot! He used that chance to slip away and now, he's having the time of his life! Unforgivable! He's going to get my Iron Claw!", says the Raikage angrily.

"I believe attempts on both the Nine-Tails and the Eight-tails have been already made. The war would be to possess the tailed beast by both sides," says Orochimaru.

"We will not hand over Naruto Uzumaki", says Gaara assertively.

"I agree", exclaims the Mizukage.

"What about you, Raikage?", the Tsuchikage turns towards the Raikage to ask.

"There's no way I'll let him have my younger brother!", exclaims the Raikage.

"The Kage are determined to protect the both of them", notes Minato who seems relieved. 

"If all the nations come together, they still might have a chance", says Shikaku.

"The situation must have been quite dire if all the nations agree on this", says Kushina.

Many people were still apprehensive but ultimately with it, because the prejudice and fear against the jinchuriki is still very strong.

"But where is the Hokage. I do not see any Konoha-nin there at all", says Kakashi. Many people notice the lack of Hokage and just nod in agreement.

"I don't have the strength, but the Tailed Beasts we've gathered so far, do. You people have no chance of winning", says Madara.

"We haven't given up hope", says Gaara.

"Very well. I hereby declare war on you all. The Fourth Great Ninja war begins now!," exclaims Madara.

Many inhale sharply at the declaration.

"The Fourth Great Ninja War? Are you mad?!", The Tsuchikage half asks, half exclaims. There is a sharp look in everyone's eyes.

"The next time we meet will be on the battlefield", says Madara. The man stands up and swirls away into nothing.

"What jutsu is that?! A teleportation technique?", someone shouts.

"It must be the special ability of the Mangekyo Sharingan. It is unknown. There aren't any records of this ability. Madara did not have these abilities", says Fugaku.

"He might have stolen someone's Sharingan. He did say he liked to stock up on good eyes", says Mikoto with a sneer on her face.

"Well then, what do we do now?", the Tsuchikage asks.

"We have to form an Allied Shinobi Force. It's the only way we can counter the power of the seven Tailed Beasts", replies Gaara.

"You were opposed to this, weren't you, Lord Raikage?", asks the Mizukage.

"It seems my younger brother is alive. We cannot allow ourselves to be manipulated by the Akatsuki any longer. Form the alliance and settle this once and for all!", replies the Raikage.

"What about the Hidden Leaf? The Hokage ran off", asks the Tsuchikage.

"What?!!", someone shouts. All of them agree.

"What a disgrace. Who is the current Hokage? They should never have been allowed the Hokage's post", says Orochimaru delicately sniffing with disdain.

People don't speak but clearly agree. The Sandaime looks confused.

"There is too much suspicion surrounding Danzo. He lost our trust at this summit. When the Hidden Leaf ninja learn about him, his position in the village will become insecure. He will be removed in no time!", exclaims the Raikage. A picture of Danzo is shown.

"How was someone so old even allowed to take the office anyway?!", exclaims Kushina.

"There might have been a power vacuum which allowed him to take his chance", says Fugaku feeling suspicious.

"Konoha might not be aware of Danzo's machinations to some extent", says Minato his eyes cold.

"But now it looks like all of the Five nations are suspicious. He will probably be disposed of", says Orochimaru with an emotionless voice. Internally he was thinking about the offer that Danzo made a few days prior. Danzo tried to coerce him to complying with him when he was vulnerable without his teammates in the village with a sensei who barely had time.

"I will speak to someone I trust among the Hidden Leaf regarding the Allied Shinobi Force", says Gaara.

"Who would that be?", asks the Raikage.

"Kakashi Hatake of the Sharingan", replies Gaara. A silhouette of Kakashi appears her grey hair in a medium sized ponytail. Her hand flashed with the Chidori menacingly.

"You mean the White Fang's daughter?", asks the Tsuchikage. 

"Fine. She seems more trustworthy than Danzo", Raikage just nods at Gaara agreeing with him.

The scene ends.

The room erupts in chatter.

Minato interlude:

He had been at the orphanage ever since he can remember. He was always alone. The matrons always busy and children in groups where he never quite fit in. The children at the orphanage were encouraged to go to the academy and so was he. People started calling him a genius. But they did not see how he would train again and again till he was all black and blue and his hands bled. He felt more lonely than ever. People gave him a wide berth so he learned to put on a convincing smile. Sure, some people hide behind a poker face, but what they least suspect is hiding behind an innocent smile. He portrayed himself as charismatic so more often than not people started liking him. Even adults seem to believe him.

One day when he was 8, he saw a redheaded girl. She was very outspoken and ferocious but always so, so alone like him. She was being made fun of for claiming to become future Hokage and was called an outsider. After he witnessed an altercation with her and two others, he got called a sissy by her for just standing there. But he had not interfered because he truly believed that she can handle it which she did. He wanted to, but did not know how to talk to her. Another chance to do so wouldn't come for the next few years. Then the next 2 years flew by and he graduated the academy at age 10 creating a new record.

He had made a genin. Placed under the Sannin Jiraiya certainly gave him advantages. He along with his team made Chunnin and just simply grew apart. After, Jiraiya-sensei took him on as an apprentice. No grand lifetime promises, they were just some kids trying to survive. But one thing being on a team taught him was a sense of belonging. Something he hadn't felt in all his life. His smiles started to actually be genuine in front of people that actually mattered. Jiraiya-sensei likely knew this. He didn't say anything but he just smiled and patted his head giving him an understanding look.

When he met Kushina again at 12, he had just saved her from some kidnappers form Kumo. This time they both more mature actually talked. He found out they had similar interests and personalities that mesh well. All the while he started to have a crush on her. He blushed profusely staring at her when she got into one of her rants about Fuinjutsu. Jiraiya-sensei teased him when he found out. His smiles at her were as genuine as they got.

When he turned 15, he had been made the youngest Jounin out of his age group. Expanding his interests got him interested in developing his own techniques. All of a sudden he was saddled with an apprentice of his own. Kushina, now his girlfriend had laughed at him.

It was Kakashi Hatake, daughter of the man said to have started the 3rd great ninja war. Though, he called bullshit on the last one. She was 5 and so small. He saw himself in her. So young and already so alone in this world. He saw how she clung onto her rules just like he clung onto those smiles when he did not have anyone to call his friend or comrade. He didn't know when it happened but he got attached to her. He didn't notice when his smiles turned warm and affectionate. He felt proud when she learned something quickly. But he also felt worried about how young she was and how she will survive. So he trained her and she became Chunnin at six.

When Kushina had met Kakashi, she fought with her more often than not but those also quickly turned into Kushina hugging Kakashi within an inch of her life. Sometimes he had caught her looking a little blue towards the end. But, he didn't say anything because he knew better than to provoke Kushina. 

Kushina had always said that he had turned into a mesh of a Mother-hen and and an older brother towards Kakashi. And how he would murder anyone who even looked at Kakashi wrong. Well, she was not wrong about that. By this time, he was already feared for his speed and his newly developed Rasengan. Then he along with Kushina were posted at the war front. He worried over Kakashi, so he smothered her with hugs till she kicked him in the face looking angry and flustered. Kushina laughed at him.

After 2 grueling months, he was finally ready to go back to the village and finally rest . He, along with Kushina were  even more worried about Kakashi now. Then a white light blinded him.

Chapter Text

"The information mentioned here is very important. We must take this seriously, if this is such a large threat that the Kage Summit was called", Shikaku says looking like he wants to be anywhere but here. Inoichi and Choza pat his shoulder sympathetically.

The rest of the people reply in various noises of agreement.

"So far all we have gathered that there is an organization called the 'Akatsuki'. Their goal is to collect all the tailed beast. The head of the Organization is the 'Madara Uchiha' , who is still alive after all this time."

"He may not have his previous strength, but he still manages to gather a multitude of S-rank nin. We can't even be entirely sure what these people are capable of", adds Minato looking grim.

"Yes. Then all the tailed-beasts will be combined into one into the 'Ten-Tails'. He plans to use the power of the Ten-Tails to cast the 'Eternal Tsukuyomi' and put everyone in a genjutsu to gain his previous power, all in a twisted attempt at peace", Shikaku adds sighing.

"And not to forget about the Shinobi Alliance that is being formed consisting of all the villages against the Akatsuki so all may not be lost yet", says Minato in a slightly amazed tone.

Everyone listens attentively. They still can't process all of the information and most of all the Shinobi Alliance. Even the idea of an alliance with hostile nations makes them dumbfounded.

"The matter with Danzo also needs to be dealt with. After all he has become so distrusted that even all the other villages are suspicious of", says Orochimaru taking his chance. Jiraiya hmms in agreement.

"We should see further what happens. I am quite sure that more of his machinations will be revealed soon. 

No one even bothers to defend him. All respect for him is lost in the people. The Sandaime looks pale and grim at Danzo's impending doom.

"Well atleast Konoha hasn't completely lost its reputation. Hatake seems to have a reputation among the Kage. She will probably be the one to take the mantle of Hokage from her generation", says Orochimaru. Kakashi purses her lips.

"Now, I believe that you all have had sufficient time to discuss this scene so we shall move forward."

The screen lights again and the title appears, "Hokage".

Various people look interested as they wonder which Hokage are they talking about. Could it be a future Hokage?!

Various Shinobi appear on a desolate battlefield. They wear a headband with 'Shinobi' kanji on it. They are of every Shinobi village and seem to be fighting on the same side They are making handsigns of a Jutsu synchronized with each other. A giant creature releases a gigantic red ball of energy. It is the Ten-Tails. At the same time the Shinobi smash their hands on the ground and yell, "Earth Style Barrier".

The red ball of energy crashes into the hundreds and hundreds of earth walls and breaks them easily. The last barrier breaks. The Shinobi brace for imapact and suddenly the Eight-Tails takes place in holding the energy ball back, clearly struggling. "Lord Bee", a Kumo nin whispers frustrated. 

"The sheer magnitude of power almost seems impossible to believe. But here we are seeing it with our own eyes", says Jiraiya.

"That is the perfect Jinchuuriki. Even the Eight-Tails has got nothing on it", says Kushina awed wondering how the Nine-Tails would fare against it.

"I guess a common enemy and a threat of annihilation really unites the people. The Shinobi of all the 5 nations are working together", says Shikaku appearing incredulous.

Suddenly the energy ball disappears. A figure suddenly appears as if teleported holding a strangely shaped Kunai. Their face is shown. They are wearing a white haori with flames at the bottom over a standard Jounin uniform. "Am I late", asks Minato.

Two figures are behind him. They are teenagers. One has blonde hair while the other has cherry pink hair. The pink haired girl is healing the blonde.

"Is the Minato? But how?! Wasn't he?", exclaims Kushina. "And who are the others? Is it her?!".

"That looks like you Sensei", says Kakashi quietly to Minato who just shrugs.

"Yeah, only 16 years", the blonde deadpans with blank eyes. Minato gets a dumbfounded look on his face while he laughs nervously. The pinkette just looks on confused still healing the blonde teenager.

The blonde suddenly laughs and says, "Nah, you're right on time dad!".

"Now, I wonder where you learned that from?", he wondered but seems to be exactly full well aware where she got that from.

The back of his Haori reads 'Fourth Hokage'. The pinkette just blinks confused muttering, "who? who's dad?".

A flashback is shown two figures standing. The silver haired girl who looks about 8 or 9 deadpans the same way in a drawling voice, "Minato-sensei, you're an idiot". Minato just hangs his head. It makes a funny picture of a child and an adult with the adult getting bullied.

Minato couldn't believe it. It wasn't that he hadn't thought about becoming Hokage but it was always just in passing. It was always Kushina who wanted to be Hokage. 

Kakashi looks excited about her Sensei becoming Hokage. And at the same time looks embarrassed at the scene.

"That looks like your daughter Minato", says Jiraiya wagging his eyebrows. Minato and Kushina just blush and doesn't look at each other. Kakashi just nods.

"Always getting bullied by Kakashi, aren't you Minato?", says Kushina with a teasing smile.

Everyone looks interested but don't say anything.

Suddenly the Bijjudama appears in a large water body where another Hiraishin Kunai is embedded on a rock. "My name is Minato Namikaze. Brace for an impending explosion". The ball explodes sending a huge shockwave that reaches over even so far away on the battlefield. 

"What is that?", a Nara mutters.

The pinkette looks questioningly towards Minato. "I sent Ten Tails' attack back toward the sea", he explains calmly.

The shockwave almost knocks everyone of their feet. A Yamanaka says almost whining, "That shock wave came out of nowhere! What's with that?!". "Stop complaining! We're lucky that we got off that easily!", the Nara says looking forward. They look to be standing in a group of three consisting of a Nara, Yamanaka and Akimichi. 

Minato's eyes get wide. "Is that?!", he looks towards Jiraiya for confirmation.

Jiraiya just throws back his head and laughs. "You did it kid!".

Everyone look at them questioningly.

"I have been working on a Space-Time Ninjutsu called the Flying Thunder God technique. It allows me to transport myself and others to a different location. But its still in its experimental phase though", explains Minato. Kakashi looks very impressed.

"Only you Minato", says Shikaku smiling while shaking his head.

Both Obito and Rin look excited at the idea of having the future Hokage as their teacher.

"So talk! Who are you?", asks the pinkette.

"Relax. I'm an ally", looking towards both her and Naruto. "Thanks for healing Naruto", he says smiling.

Minato looks at her and asks, "Are you Naruto's friend?"

"Yeah yeah, Sakura-chan's my best friend. She's super nice and strong", says Naruto while grinning. Sakura blushes clearly pleased.

"But she's also very bossy and gets angry all the time dattebayo", says Naruto. Sakura is again red in the face but with anger this time.

"You shut your trap", shouts Sakura angrily while she slams her chin on Naruto's head. "Don't waste your energy talking", shouts Sakura while she stands over Naruto's head looming.

"You're supposed to be healing me, but I just suffered more damage...", says Naruto pouting.

"I'll heal the extra damage too", says Sakura now having calmed down looking professional.

Minato just watches this going on quietly with a strange look on his face and suddenly laughs nervously. An image of angry Kushina pops up. "She reminds me a little of Kushina...".

"Please go easy on my daughter", smiling nervously.

"How Youthful", loudly whispers Guy. Obito just stares.

"Well at least Naruto has good friends", says Minato, "No matter how violent", whispers Minato away from Kushina. Kakashi hears it and just gives him a look.

Sakura smiles at that. She then frowns and looks downwards to Naruto and asks, "So, why did this happen so suddenly? It seems like you knew."

"I sensed his chakra when I was in Nine Tails Mode. The others should be arriving soon...", replies Naruto.

"Nine-Tails mode", someone gasps.

"Naruto learned to control the power of the Nine-Tails. Something I could not even dream of", says Kushina amazed.

"Others... hmmm", Shikaku thinks.

Everyone looks towards a certain direction sensing someone coming.

Suddenly the Sandaime appears beside Minato. "Minato, you're as fast as ever!", he says

"Lord Third Hokage?! And also... That's the", Sakura's voice trailed off as two more figures appeared.

"Fourth... You're better at teleporting than I am!", says Tobirama.

"All right, let's do this!", says Hashirama.

Some Konoha ninja say shocked, "No way!" "I don't believe it!"

"Lords First, Second..., Third... and even Lord Fourth... Minato! So you're the ones who stopped the attack, Lords Hokage! But who reanimated you?", says an Iwa ninja clearly awed.

"All of the previous Hokage?!", someone shouts.

"Granddad, Granduncle?! And is that Granduncles?!", says Tsunade suddenly who was just listening until now.

"Yes, it most likely is the Reanimation Jutsu. Tobirama-Sensei was the one who developed it. How did it fall into someone's hands?!", exclaims Hiruzen Sarutobi.

"Even Sarutobi-Sensei. Though it does seem like he died after Minato if the future generation recognizes him", says Orochimaru with a strange emotion in his eyes. His voice was blank.

"Minato! Did you hear?! The Second Hokage himself said that you would be better than him", says Kushina excitedly. Kakashi also looks at him with a mixture of admiration and proud. Minato blushes at their combined attention.

"Orochimaru summoned us. We need to stop this war quickly." says the Sandaime.

"What? Didn't Orochimaru die?", asks Sakura while watching the events unfold.

"This is amazing. The previous Hokage are going to join us in battle!" "Now that's reassuring", people say feeling hopeful. 

"I don't know what's happening anymore!", says Sakura dejectedly still healing Naruto. 

"There's still more help coming, but they're taking a little longer", says Naruto to Sakura.

"Orochimaru-teme?!", exclaims Jiraiya loudly looking at him questioningly.

"I do not know the circumstances I learned the Jutsu. I had only known about it vaguely let alone master it", Orochimaru just shrugs his shoulders.

The Sandaime looks thoughtful.

Suddenly a figure comes bursting through the air and lands on an elevated platform with a boom. 

"Its about damn time! I've been waiting Hashirama!", shouts Madara with a fierce grin along with his signature Gunbai in his hand.

"I'll deal with you later! First I have to stop the Ten-Tails.", shouts Hashirama while pointing his finger towards Madara.

The grin falls off Madara's face very quickly. He looks shocked for a bit while frowning. 

Madara sighs and says," He hasn't changed a bit. We were never on the same page". 

Everyone starts laughing at the exchange. They had only heard about how Hashirama killed Madara, but not about their nature of relationship before that.

"Madara Uchiha?!", someone shouts. 

"Well, Grandfather was always quite eccentric", Tsunade just sighs. She had a good laugh, but at the same time feels melancholic at seeing her family again.

"It looks like Madara gained his full power if he is challenging Hashirama Senju to a battle", says Shikaku sighing.

Hashirama continues pointing his finger in a different direction, "After all its charging right at us". The humongous Ten-Tails appears running in their direction.

Scene Ends. The screen turns black again. 

The room bursts into chatter again.

Chapter Text

Title is shown on the screen, "The bitter truth"

A pink haired girl with white cloak is shown moving forward on a bridge. Her hand holding the kunai shakes and comes to stop in front of a red haired battered up girl holding her chest, curled up on the ground. 

"Well, Sakura? you can't do it?"

'She has nothing to do with this.' Sakura thinks, 'If I... If I stab Sasuke now... it will all be over.', while clenching her jaw tightly.

"Isn't this Sakura? Naruto best friend? That is the Uzumaki red hair", says Kushina says with wonder.

"It is. I wonder what is going on", says Minato.

"Is that an Uchiha", says Fugaku interested and quite put off by what's going on.

"That does seem like an Uzumaki", says Shikaku.

"Stop Sasuke", the haired girl weakly gasps. Sakura's eyes widen. Behind Sakura, Sasuke charges up his Chidori and is about to run Sakura through when she is jumping sideways. Suddenly a hand intercepts Sasuke and directs him sideways while pushing Sakura behind. The figure wears a white clock with mid-length spiky silver hair in a low ponytail. hair falling over their eyes over the hitae-ate.

'He really meant to kill her', thinks Kakashi with aggrieved eyes. "How you've fallen, Sasuke". After a brief exchange Sasuke escapes from Kakashi's ninja wire and stands at a distance. Sasuke grins a not so nice grin.

"One after another", says Sasuke.

"Sasuke huh.", says the Sandaime quietly thinking about his grandfather. 

"Kakashi is also there. And the Uchiha also seems to be very skilled."

"But what is the cause behind their fighting?! Sasuke also doesn't seem to wear a Konoha hitae-ate. He attacked fellow leaf ninja. Did he...", says Fugaku the question unspoken. He purses his lips in a thin line. Many seem to think the same.

"Let me just take a leap and assume that maybe Sakura and Naruto were in the same genin team and Kakashi was their team leader.", says Fugaku.

"Sakura, you tried to kill Sasuke by yourself, didn't you? You don't have to shoulder such a heavy burden by yourself. I was the leader of Team 7. It was my cowardice that split all of you up. Sakura... I said something irresponsible to you in an effort to put you at ease.

New scene appears. A preteen Sakura is shown crying on a rooftop. "Kakashi Sensei...". Kakashi lands before her and smiles her eye smile. ""Don't worry. It will be like it was before!"

Flashback ends. A grim faced Kakashi is shown again. "I must have been trying to convince myself of that too. I'm sorry I'm such a careless Sensei back then." Sakura just says sadly, "but you're..." like trying to refute the statement. 

"I believe he deserted the village. What did Sasuke do that Sakura would have to kill Sasuke even with her shaky determination. ", sighs Mikoto pursing her lips. She can't help but look at him like he's her own child.

"Another Team 7", Shikaku sighs. "Troublesome". Some side eye him.

'Just how much Kakashi must bear', thinks Minato clenching his fists before ruffling her hair. Kakashi swats his hand.

Kakashi just looks at him and says, "Don't worry Sensei. I'll make sure to be better than my future self" , trying to reassure him. 'Or better I just won't become a teacher, avoiding the problem completely', thinks Kakashi eye twitching.

Obito just looks at the rumored Uchiha madness that  Sasuke shows signs of.

"Sasuke, I don't like to repeat myself. But I'll say this once more.", says Kakashi.

Scene changes. A younger Sasuke is shown tied to a tree with ninja wire struggling to break free. Kakashi stands before him holding the wire's end.

Kakashi says," I've seen so many guys like you, I've lost count. Those who follow the path of revenge end up nowhere. Do not become possessed by vengeance!".

Flashback ends.

The present Sasuke just laughs a near crazed manic laugh at that.

"Itachi... My father... My mother... My entire clan! Bring them all here! Do that and I'll quit right now!", shouts Sasuke.

Gasps echo throughout the room. Someone screeches. Still likely an Uchiha but Uchiha do not 'screech'. Fugaku coughs to the side trying to keep his composure.

People look at the Uchiha's pitifully.

"So he is our child", Mikoto says sadly. "Just how much did he go through to become like this."

"So the Uchiha's were all murdered and only Sasuke was left", says Orochimaru feeling calmer than literally everyone else present.

Everyone flinches at the blunt words.

"How could all the Uchiha be wiped out suddenly. Was it the work of internal forces", says Shikaku brain working overdrive. Everyone eyes widen in realization. 'Ah I should have probably not said that out loud just yet', thinks Shikaku while grimacing.

Fugaku feels everyone's eyes on him but he resolutely looks forward, determined to get to the bottom of this. Mikoto holds his hand with the same gleam in her eyes.

"I don't want to kill you." says Kakashi calmly but her eyes are anything but calm.

"You talk like you could kill me at any time! Stop acting like you're still my Sensei. I'm itching to kill you... Kakashi.", says Sasuke while tilting his head. He looks manic.

'He's been completely twisted by Madara.', thinks Kakashi. "Sakura... Heal that girl to the point that she can speak. We still have time right now. She knows a lot of intel about the enemy." 

Sakura jerks her head towards Kakashi. "What about you, Sensei?"

Kakashi keeps speaking to her while head faced towards Sasuke. "Take that girl and get away from here. I will take on what would have been your burden. I guess you could say it's my responsibility." eye smiling towards Sakura when she looked worried before gently patting her head. Sakura reluctantly nods and takes off carrying the Uzumaki.

"Oh Kakashi", whispers Kushina.

"A teacher facing their own student in battle. I can't ever imagine fighting Kakashi like this", says Minato. They both hug Kakashi a little closer. Like trying to shield her from the bitter truth.

"I seem like a shit sensei", Kakashi deadpans. Minato gasps.

"This must be Sasuke that Madara had mentioned at the Kage Summit." says Shikaku. It finally clicked.

Kakashi takes off her clock. "As the leader of Team 7, I will settle this once and for all."

"I don't like repeating myself either. But stop acting like you're my Sensei.", says Sasuke.

'No matter how far he had fallen, he was still dear to you, wasn't he?', Orochimaru is shown running away from the lab. 'The agony of having to face that dear student in battle. No one can begin to imagine the resolve it took.' thinks Kakashi as Orochimaru and Third Hokage are seen running towards each other in a battle to the death. Scene ends and Kakashi is shown taking off her headband to uncover her Sharingan.

"Now I finally understand how the Third Hokage must have felt at that moment.", says Kakashi.

"Orochimaru deserted the village and was chased by Sensei personally. Just what did you do teme?!", shouts Jiraiya. Tsunade looks Orochimaru in the eyes for an answer. They both hold Orochimaru by the shoulders and try to get closer to him as if it would give them the answers they want.

"I do not know what I have done but its not like you both are still in the village are you? How would you even know what's going on with me?", Orochimaru purses his lips and looks down. Jiraiya and Tsunade fall silent and their hold on him tightens. They look like they will be having a much needed conversation.

"Oh Orochimaru", the Sandaime feels the strange burden placed on him, feeling responsible for his student's future desertion. Everyone else just murmurs towards Orochimaru shooting him distrustful looks .

"You will go the same way as the Third Hokage!", says Sasuke while cracking his knuckles.

"Sasuke we need to have a long overdue conversation. ", said Kakashi while outwardly grimacing. She just takes a ddep breath and sighs.

"About what Kakashi? About Danzo or about Itachi?!", shouts Sasuke trying to dig the knife deeper.

"About Danzo and about Itachi". replies Kakashi with determination though it seems overshadowed by the sadness towards the second name.

"What right do you of all people have to talk about him, when you couldn't even save him?! Didn't you know Itachi looked up to you so much, that he even considered you his sister. And what did that get him huh?!!", shouts Sasuke. During the time that Kakashi was his Sensei, they had unanimously decided not to talk about Itachi.

"Seems like Itachi and Kakashi were quite close", says Orochimaru nonchalantly.

Kakashi finally realizing the weight the words blinks. 'Another person. Maybe I really am cursed. Dad, Sensei, Kushina, Obito, Rin and now Sasuke and Itachi too". Tears starts forming in her eyes. She tries to tell herself, 'Shinobi do not show emotions'. No matter how much she tried but she could not stop them. She grabs hold of Minato's flak jacket corner.

Obito notices this and tries to smile at her but it doesn't reach his eyes. The Uchiha clan's death news wasn't easy for him either. 

Kakashi clenches her fists and gulps. The words had cut too deep, clearly taking a toll on her. The boy she had once called her little brother, the one she watched grow up, had hid his struggles too deep that even Kakashi couldn't see through fully. At that time she was very concerned about it, but tried to reassure herself that Itachi would atleast open up to Shisui. But everything changed at that fateful night. She regretted that she didn't force it out of him due to respect and hesitation towards him.

Scene changes. A younger Kakashi sits in her apartment in her normal Jounin blues. The moonlight shines through the window. A young teen boy Anbu uniform is seen sitting across her. He has sleek black hair in a low ponytail. 

"I have a bad feeling about tonight. My instincts are telling me something wrong is going to happen. I even had to leave Naruto somewhere else for the night. I didn't want to scare her by being on edge.", says Kakashi looking down deep in thought.

"I'm sure nothing will happen Senpai. After all we are in the middle of Konoha."

One cup of warm tea each was sitting in front of them. Kakashi takes a quick sip of the tea and pulls her mask back into place. She slumps down to the floor a moment later, and looks at Itachi with confusion in her eyes.

"Itachi... why?", she whispers. She hears a soft," I'm sorry... Nee-san", before everything turns black. Itachi is shown staring at her for a few more seconds with his head hung low before quickly exiting the apartment. A few droplets of water was seen at the door.

Flashback ends.

"Is this Itachi? He looks so exhausted", Mikoto says softly. "But why would he drug her tea. What was he about to do that night?".

"I have a theory, but I'd like to watch more", says Shikaku learned his lesson.

Kakashi was finally calming down after being comforted by both Minato and Kushina. This was a roller-coaster for her against her normal fixed routine.

"I had known the discrimination against the Uchiha had gotten bad, but not to the extent that in retaliation, the Uchiha were staging a coup d'etat in response. Guess I was too used to being ostracized after my father's death in my childhood that I simply overlooked it. I regret that now. But that night, if I had known what Itachi had been about to do, believe me, I would have done that in his stead without a second thought. The only one who would have missed me was Naruto and a couple others. But they would have moved on after some time. I am not that important. Naruto was still quite young and at that point, had many people who would gladly take care of her if I couldn't", says Kakashi smiling with a self-deprecating look.

"So did... did that night Itachi killed all the Uchiha clan members...because the Uchiha were planning a coup. So he was stuck between the village and the clan", Mikoto whispers. Fugaku's breath gets heavy.

"But why would people treat the Uchiha so bad. They are genuinely nice people if a bit stuck up?!", shouts Kushina distressed at seeing Mikoto's state.

"The Uchiha are one of the most loyal clans. They were also a founding clan with deep trust of people with them. Something significant must have happened which caused this much distrust with the clan.", says Shikaku calming people down. Fugaku nods at him gratefully.

Turn by turn many people spoke in favor of the Uchihas. The Uchiha might be stuck-up and arrogant but they were loyal. The Will of Fire burns brightly within them.

Mikoto also looks towards Kakashi gratefully. Her being someone who became a mentor sister like figure to her son who genuinely cared about him and would go to such extent for him. But her heart also hurt for her. Just how much she suffered for her to consider herself so easily disposable.

"YOU... you.. didn't know?! How could you not know. Even after my clan being so obviously ostracized!" says Sasuke with a twisted expression.

"Believe me, when I say I have first hand experience in it. Though I love Konoha, I have no particular love for the civilians. I probably stay only because my precious people are here. I just do my job."  says Kakashi looking with a frown thinking.

"What do you mean by that? And who was your father", asks Sasuke looking like someone who's entire image of the world view shattered. Like someone who just realized that their teacher was also once a child.

"Surely you don't think that the Uchihas were the only ones targeted by Danzo though his isolation tactic. You might have heard of my father. 'The White Fang': Sakumo Hatake. The most powerful shinobi of his generation, far surpassing even the likes of the legendary Sannin. He was a prime candidate for Hokage in his prime. 

And as to what happened, well...It was mission gone wrong where he chose to save his teammates over completing the mission which became his fall from grace. The mission was rigged...by Danzo. He was going to be ostracized no matter what decision he made. He made one that aligned with his morals. I found evidence of it when we ransacked Danzo's secret bases. " Kakashi clenched her fist trying to keep the anger down.

It earned him the hate of all of Konoha...even those people who were saved by him on the very same mission. His failure sparked the 3rd great ninja war when the tensions were high. It would have only taken another mission, another slip up by someone else. But my father was used as a scapegoat to vent everyone's frustration and they made him a pariah. And who didn't agree just kept quiet. Bloody cowards. But I was no better. The thing I regret the most, was that I also left him alone because I blamed him too. For becoming just a shadow of himself. For not being the same man he was. 

Almost all the people looked down, ashamed of themselves. They looked shocked at the revelation that such a revered man was made a pariah just like that.

Minato clenches his teeth at the hypocrisy of people around. He looks towards Kakashi who starts crying silently, tears just pouring down without a sound. He picks up Kakashi and hugs her who does not even have it in herself to resist or snap at him. 

"Why was my father, what did I do wrong that they took him form me", Kakashi whines in Minato's chest. "You did NOTHING wrong. It was the fault of that FUCKING bastard Danzo. I'll kill him. Make him regret ever being born." says Kushina trying to control herself her eyes shining with tears. Minato wholeheartedly agreed.

He eventually killed himself with a sword in his gut. I was the one who found him. My only family...dead. In front of my eyes. And I could only watch my eyes wide as he took his last breath. I hated him. Not for breaking the damn rules, but for leaving me all alone. I was 4 and I just wanted by father back.

Despite this, I don't hate him anymore for the choice he made. For now, I truly believe he did the right thing. Because those who break the rules are scum, but those who abandoned even one of their friends are worse than scum. 'Sasuke's eyes widen in recognition'.

Gasps echo throughout the room. A child should never be forced to watch their parent's death let along such a young one.

'Kakashi finally understands her father, but the cost was too steep. She can't even trust her own villagers even though she loves the village', thinks Minato. 

"I am truly ashamed this happened. I know apologies cannot fix it but believe we will never let his happen again and will punish the perpetrator.", says the Sandaime looking genuinely ashamed.

We are two sides of the same coin Sasuke. I could have ended up just like you. I could have chased vengeance against the Leaf until there was nothing left in me. But I didn't. Because I let people in and they saved me. My sensei. And my friends." Minato's along with Obito's, Rin's, Gai's, Genma, Tenzo, Kurenai, Shizune, Yugao's face flashed across her mind. Itachi was still a sore spot. "I'm sorry I wasn't there for you like he was for me. You could say that I was scared. Scared of letting someone else in only to get hurt again. I am sorry to you and to Sakura."

Sasuke could do nothing but just watch with eyes wide as Kakashi spoke.

"But why didn't you do anything if you saw him that night", asked Sasuke looking confused and angry in a small voice.

" I was numb for a couple of days after that. When I came to my senses and started to dig around, the evidence had been mostly wiped and what was left of it, I almost got to it but before I could, the Sandaime said that I shouldn't interfere where I don't belong in a roundabout way. And I felt scared, because I knew how far someone could go to achieve their goals. I felt trapped , thinking of the consequences my decisions could make. I was a mess back then."

Kakashi sighs and continues, "And about the matter of Danzo. You know Sasuke, the verdict had already been passed on Danzo's perpetration of the Uchiha massacre and treason for elongating the third war. He instigated conflict among Konoha and Iwa. The elder council are charged with and accessory of crime and are now in confinement. Danzo would have been killed even before he stepped foot in Konoha and by choice I was to be his executioner. He was too dangerous to be captured alive as we suspected that he had stolen atleast one Sharingan by finding his papers about Orochimaru' s result. And now, all of his deeds are going to be made publicly known. We cleared all of the root bases as soon as he left for the Summit. He was never going to be the Sixth Hokage. The only Hokage I serve is Lady Tsunade. "

So the Hokage knew?!!... the massacre!!!!!... the whole council was involved?!!!.... What the hell?? Is the whole leadership in cahoots?!!

"Konoha is truly rotting from the inside. The so-called nice village is just on the surface", Orochimaru purses his lips and remarks dryly.

"What the fuck??? I become the Hokage. I never wanted the damn seat", shouts Tsunade while trying not to spiral on the fact that her own sensei could be like this. Jiraiya looked betrayed.

"Well this is a shit-show", remarks Shikaku quietly trying to disappear into the ground.

"Wait did the Sandaime also knew about the white fang?!!", somebody remarks.

The Sandaime cannot even refute the remarks after all his beliefs and morals being left so badly shaken.

"Aren't you afraid that bringing Danzo's acts to light will cause a civil war. And sully your precious Third Hokage's image?", Sasuke asked skeptically eyes fixed on Kakashi's weary form.

"Sometimes the truth needs to come to light. The roots need to be pulled forcefully from the ground to ensure a new beginning. And about the matter of the Sandaime. I...despise him. I despise the man he was as Hokage" said Kakashi with hardened voice after a beat of silence.

Sasuke's eyes widened. 

"I never did considered him my Hokage after the Yondaime, my sensei, died. He turned a blind eye to all of Danzo's atrocities. He wasn't fit to be a Hokage . That man was a coward, too softhearted to be in a leadership position. Danzo killed all the other next generation Hokage candidates in a bid to seize power through Orochimaru by manipulating him. And you know what the Sandaime did? He shut me down again and again, until I learned to keep my mouth shut. About Itachi, about all those missing children, and about the unsanctioned missions Danzo did for his own gain. I did what I could but it wasn't enough. Got atleast one assassination attempt every month but he couldn't touch me. By the time Danzo tried to get rid of me, I had grown too powerful, and Naruto too well protected. But I suppose he wasn't all bad as an individual though. Not to the other people atleast. He might have been a Hokage but he never hesitated to speak to every Shinobi as an equal. He was a good man but never fit to be a leader."

"I never should have taken the hat again after Minato died. Seems like almost all of the things well before Minato's reign", resigns the Sandaime in a quiet voice. But everybody heard him, because of the total silence left in the room.

"He was the one who manipulated Orochimaru. I knew that Oro just can't betray the village suddenly", says Jiraiya seeming a bit hopeful. "I'll...I won't leave the village Oro so please stay with me".

Minato looked ready to cough blood at this point.

Sasuke just pursed his lips and asks, "So will you also let Konoha know what Itachi did?"

"Itachi tried to protect you by hiding the truth as to not sully the Uchiha name. But... I believe, somethings, should not be hidden no matter how it may hurt the others. So, Yes... all of it will be made public along with Danzo's actions. At that time Itachi couldn't let a civil war begin. It would have destroyed Konoha in and out", says Kakashi grimly.

Sasuke still angry says," So that's it huh?! Those Konoha people will face no consequences when they drove the Uchihas to such brink. Those who despised us, mistreated us while we were innocent??!"

People are starting to look more and more ashamed.

"But what can they even do. I understand Sasuke but a village can't be punished altogether.", says Fugaku in a reluctant voice.

Kakashi just says felling tired, "Sasuke, I'm sorry...".

"WHAT GOOD WILL YOUR SORRY DO?!! It can't bring my family back. And that eye you have belongs to the Uchiha. The Sharingan is proof of being an Uchiha. A lowlife ninja who isn't an Uchiha... has no right showing off that eye!" Sasuke starts running toward Kakashi not knowing where to vent his anger.

Sasuke throws a barrage of shurikin and kunai, releasing the seal on his arm. "Earth style: Mud wall", says Kakashi and slams her hands to the ground to block off the Barrage.

Sasuke reaches her with a Chidori which Kakashi swiftly dodges by ducking and jumps off the bridge onto the water and stabilizes herself. Sasuke jumps down after her.

"For someone whose Sharingan is borrowed, you're quite skilled in using it." says Sasuke. Both stare at each other from across with their Sharingan activated.

"However, can your Sharingan do this? I will show you... that my Sharingan is in a completely different class than yours!", says Sasuke activating his Mangekyo Sharingan. A purple giant Susanoo appears behind Sasuke wielding a bow and arrow in each of its hands. Sasuke was completely trying to focus on the fight and trying to ignore the the reasoning part of his brain.

An arrow shoots towards Kakashi with frightening speed. Suddenly water pours like rain from all sides. Sasuke is breathing heavily.

'So fast. If I hadn't blown it away with the Mangekyo, I'd probably be very injured right now', thinks Kakashi. "So that's the Susanoo?" 

"To think that someone who's not an Uchiha could awaken the Mangekyo. So it seems that eye's power saved you. You should be grateful to the power of the Uchiha." says Sasuke.

"You are more than just your clan. More than just hatred. I know what I told you today, doesn't change much. But Sasuke, look deep inside your heart. One more time." says Kakashi with a pleading tone. Sasuke just purses his lips.

Scene ends

The room bursts into chatter.

Chapter Text

"I think we should all make a brief timeline on what the scenes we have been shown so far", says Shikaku looking like he wants to disappear from there. 'I am not paid enough for this.' "And Inoichi would have to mindwalk Danzo to check how many crimes he has committed till now excluding the Sakumo Hatake's situation. But before that.". he says. 'I may be a shinobi adept at compartmentalizing my emotions but that doesn't mean I don't feel it. Dammit!', he thinks. Then he turns towards Kakashi and says, "Once again I am truly sorry for your loss. I am sorry I wasn't in the village when the situation happened. But you're family. You are always welcome." Inoichi and Choza voice out their agreement behind him.
(Refers to chapter 2, para 4 when I said they were cousins through Kakashi's maternal side. Because why not?)

Kakashi not trusting her voice just nods. Her entire worldview was just shattered so she was a still a little choked up. Several people murmur their apologies behind them sounding quite ashamed. Some were not as genuine as the others.

Obito stands up and walks over to Kakashi with others behind him who follows him after nodding at each other. He says quietly but still perfectly audible to the whole room," I believe that Sakumo Hatake was a true hero" all of the children present including Gai, Genma, Rin, Kurenai and Asuma agree immediately after that. Seeing the children voicing out their convictions so clearly ashamed the adults present further.

Kakashi searches for something in their eyes, and when she finds it she manages a shaky thankyou towards them and eye smiles at them, looking pained as someone who needed to hear that. Minato pats her head and smiles reassuringly at her and the other children. He gestures for them to sit near him then changes he subject. He feels that Kakashi has had enough for now and needs to think quietly for a while and some friends will do her good. 'They are good children. Wonder how the future looks with them', he thinks.

"I think that's enough for now and we should focus on making a timeline. We should start with Sakumo-san's situation right", says Minato managing to smile both diplomatically and menacingly at the same time.

"So Danzo manipulated the events of the 3rd war. It is highly likely that he played a not insignificant part in creating tensions between the villages".

"And then he found a scapegoat and nobody even suspected him with the position of the elder and the support of the Hokage", says Fugaku disdainfully. Everybody turns to glare at the Sandaime together who just seems to shrink feeling his age catching up.

"After the Third war started, he approached Orochimaru of the Sannin to experiment for him. Who was left vulnerable after his teammates left the village", says Shikaku looking apologetically towards Orochimaru who doesn't seem to mind.

"During this we can see Kakashi-chan being put into team with Obito Uchiha and Nohara Rin with Minato as their genin sensei" says Kushina thinking of their appearance in the scene. She had a feeling she would especially like Obito and smiles at him and Rin brightly giving a vague impression of a fox. Obito blanches and then nods at her with a blush. Rin does the same. Genma who is one year older snickers at them. Gai gives a thumbs up whisper yelling 'YOUTH'.

"But then both of her teammates die, likely during the third war in which Obito gave his Sharingan to Kakashi", says Mikoto sympathetically.

"Way to ruin the mood", says Genma quietly looking sideways upset. The group of children give him a deadpan look before he adds," So don't die alright idiot. You too Rin." Then he tries to return to being nonchalant and tries to look he doesn't give a shit. 
"You should do that. Hmpf", Kakashi sniffs but slightly grateful. 
"Well yeah alright. I was going to to that anyways because I'm gonna be the Hokage", "I'll try my best", cam both their responses. Kakashi doesn't really know the older boy but she has seen him and he seems to care about both Obito and Rin so that's good enough for her. 
"What Youthful things to say my friends. Worrying over your comrades." Gai sniffs clearly more subdued than usual.

"After it, Minato was made Hokage and died likely during a short reign, along with Kushina during which Naruto was orphaned, and Kakashi took in as own. And she was also scouted for ANBU. The Sandaime again took over and after a few years passed away making Tsunade-sama the Godaime Hokage.", says Shikaku. Tsunade grimaces.

"Team 7 was formed before which the Uchiha Massacre happened and Itachi became a missing nin. After a while Sasuke too became a missing nin likely after Itachi."

"The Akatsuki was formed with S-ranked missing nin from all over the world. Their base unknown. The organization is headed by Uchiha Madara himself who is somehow still alive. Then he declared the 4th Great Ninja War at the Kage Summit during which he revealed crucial information. After that the shinobi alliance was seen fighting and getting nearly annihilated by the Juubi if not for the Fourth reanimated Hokage themselves".

Everyone murmurs in agreement and clearly the discussion for the time being is done.

'I wish now something lighthearted is shown. At this point I don't even wanna see this anymore dattebane', thinks Kushina drained.
Kakashi's eye twitches, ' I swear if something like that is shown again, I am going to find a way to kill everyone in this room and then kill myself. Somehow".

Then Iris appears and says, "Now we shall start with the new Scene and the lights dim again".

The title appears "Damn it : Segment 1".

A woman in white appears to be struggling between 2 figures  who are dragging her into the light with a firm grasp on her. She's wearing her silver hair in a side braid and face covered with a mask. One of the shorter figures has pink hair and the taller one brown hair, both shoulder length.

"Ne, Sakura-chan. Do I have really have to." Sakura turns to Kakashi with a manic look in her eyes.

"YES, Kakashi-Sensei, for the last time. You're already an hour late to your OWN ceremony. So yes, you have to." then she gives Kakashi a threatening Sugar syrupy smile."

"Where are they dragging me anyway?!", Kakashi exclaims not fully wanting to know the answer if her previous experiences have taught her anything. But she is a proud Chunnin of Konoha, she can do this. 

"Well it really is quite strange to see you act that way. It's like you are a completely different person Bakashi", says Obito his hands clasped behind his head casually. Kurenai agrees inside but doesn't want to aggravate Kakashi further who might explode at Obito.

"You're the one to talk. You crybaby ninja", Kakashi says angry. Obito gets ready to snap back at Kakashi. Rin quickly interjects between them clearly used to it. "Now, now quiet down you two and pay attention", says Rin with a sweet smile with a threatening undertone. It reminds all three of them the days they spent in the academy.

Genma doesn't say anything but he does remember seeing all three of them together quite often. He works with Kakashi at some point at ANBU in the same team. They would probably be close at some point. 'Well time will tell'.  He just shrugs and continues to watch.

Minato almost cooed at Kakashi play fighting with her friends and smiled fondly at the kids. He looked ready to adopt them too. "Isn't that Sakura, your student? Quite scary in fact. Reminds me of Kushina", Minato whispers to Kakashi who's giving him a look of 'shut up, Sensei'. 
"Hm, you say anything Minato." Kushina asks with a saccarine sweet smile. "Nothing", Minato gulps and answers quickly.
Kakashi frowns,' do women all smile like that?'

"If its just me or that does that look a little familiar to you Tsunade?", Jiraiya asks with a smile at older Kakashi and curiosity at her student.

"Now that I think about it, it does look awfully similar to my seal", Tsunade hmms.

"She must be your apprentice because I haven't seen any jutsu similar to yours and it isn't easy to replicate either. You must have fully guided her through it. Well congratulations anyway Tsunade. Your student probably surpassed you or is atleast an equal to you", says Orochimaru with a smile.

Kakashi then turns to the brown haired man with a desperate look in her eyes, clearly grasping at straws. He has a senbon in his lips. "But I don't even have the 'Fucking Sharingan' anymore?!". Then Kakashi's full face is shown. Kakashi's left eye is twitching dangerously. The man looks at her with a deadpan.

"There's no use at looking at me like that. You've gotten even stronger, after you lost the Sharingan, and stopped dropping unconscious from chakra exhaustion at every chance. So don't try giving that excuse, because you're not getting out of it. " says Genma looking as tired as Sakura, but with a gleeful look in his eyes.
"Well anyway we're here now. Look Shishou is already there", Sakura says with fake sweetness. Kakashi closes her eyes.

As they almost get to the light, they see Tsunade standing there in her formal robes. 

"What, she lost the Sharingan", Fugaku looked ready to have an aneurism. He had just accepted of an non-clan member having it an now she lost it. Mikoto pats his back," Calm down honey. I'm sure it will be explained later. Don't worry about it right now.

Some people looked at him weird when he didn't overreact. Uchiha and their Sharingan. They shrugged.

"That looks awfully like you Genma", says Obito squinting.
"That's because it is me. Kakashi's right, you are are idiot", says Genma shrugging. 'Hmm', he quite liked the senbon, Maybe he'll try it later. Kakashi looks at him approvingly and considers the potential friendship. Obito looks at them pouting.

"At this point, I wonder if I should be dreading what's gotten you so spooked", says Kushina laughing at Kakashi. Kakashi looks betrayed.

"Well damn me, but she actually is your student hime", Jiraiya says to Tsunade who looks at Sakura consideringly.

Shikaku looks he knows where this is going, 'I never imagined such a reluctant Hokage at their own initiation ceremony'. He snickers.

Kakashi finally looks resigned to her fate and looks towards the sky and thinks, 'Dammit Obito, this is your fault. Be the Hokage in my stead, he says'. Her eye gives a last twitch as they reach Tsunade. Both Sakura and Genma let go of her and move to stand beside other people. She steps near the boundary of the roof where Tsunade stands on the top of Hokage tower. 

People laugh at that.
"Damn Obito", says Kakashi. "If you wanna be Hokage, stay alive and do it yourself. Hmpf", says Kakshi with a huff.
"Of course I'm gonna do that", emotional that Kakashi would do that for him. He decides that they're gonna be best friends somehow. Besides Rin of course.

"You're finally here brat. I knew you were going to make some last minute ditch attempt, so I just gave you the wrong time and sent Sakura and Genma after you in advance. Though it still took them hours. Heh", says Tsunade looking pleased with herself.
Kakashi's eye is dangerously twitching again. Tsunade just ruffles her hair and looks proud her eyes misty. 
"Your father would have been proud of you. And Minato too according to Jiraiya. They both would just go on and on singing your praises."
Kakashi just ducks her head and leans into her hand.

The surroundings appear. Numerous people down below are in mood of celebration on the joyous occasion. Fireworks exploding and banners decorating the tower.

"So they're making me Hokage", Kakashi says with an eye twitch. clearly displeased.

Minato picks her up in joy and smiles widely, "You're the Rokudaime Kakashi. I knew you could do it!", says Minato. At Kakashi's glare he amends, "Even if you don't want it in the future, of course", he says sweatdropping. At that Kakashi says," Alright", before jerkily nodding looking away and blushing. She is still hanging from Minato's grasp who damn well near cooing at her. Kushina watches with a fond smile letting them have their moment.

People who had looked down upon the Hatake name acknowledged Kakashi too. Even if it meant little to her in the future, It still might mean something to little Kakashi at only 6 years of age. They looked at her not with hostility or later pity but with respect.

Tsunade smiles at herself. There will be plenty of time later on to talk to Kakashi but right now she should be with her family now.

"Come now". Then Tsunade steps forward and says," We will now begin the inauguration of the Rokudaime-Hokage. I, Tsunade Senju will be the one presiding over the ceremony today." Tsunade gestures towards Kakashi to move forward. Kakashi looks back and sees everyone giving her a encouraging nod looking happy. Genma, Gai in a wheelchair, Sakura, even Sasuke in a corner, Shikamaru, Ino, Tenzo and Naruto who gives her a thumbs up smiling brightly. All in formal Jounin uniforms for the occasion. She exhales and moves forward. 

"And this is the woman who is about to become your Rokudaime-Hokage today. The one you all know. Kakashi Hatake." Everybody cheers loudly from down below.

Kakashi looks down at the people below and gives a genuine eye-smile feeling it will all be okay and addresses them.

At this point nearly everybody is smiling. After so many morbid scenes it was nice seeing the future bright and happy.

"Mikoto gasps silently, her eyes misty," They brought Sasuke back. He looks happy, I am glad", she smiles. Fugaku clasps her hand. smiling silently towards the screen.

Title appears "Damn it : Segment 2"

2 days later. Kakashi is shown sitting on the desk in the Hokage's office scribbling. She is surrounded by a mountain of paperwork. "Now I know why Tsunade-sama was so eager to throw and hat at me and escape", says Kakashi looking up. A snicker is heard from an ANBU agent above . Kakashi just sighs and looks down.

"I-Isn't that a little too much", says Minato dreading the fact that there is still the chance of him becoming Yondaime.

Does the Hokage really have to do that much paperwork. That's basically glorified labor. Quite a few people sweatdrop at that.

Kakashi just says, "Nope", completely shutting out any possibility of her doing that.

Tsunade just coughs.

Suddenly someone barges in the door furiously and Kakashi looks up happily grateful for the arrival. There are only many people who can barge in so audaciously in her office and suppress their chakra this much. 

Genma comes to stand before her and throws a scroll down with the ANBU symbol on it on her desk and says," What the hell is this." Genma smiles at her with a painfully fake smile. His eyes closed in a Kakashi fashion.

"I don't what you mean", says Kakashi leaning backwards. She dismisses her ANBU guards with a gesture of her hand.

"Well don't act so ignorant. You made me the ANBU commander. I knew you were up to something." Genma's smile drops and he stares at her sparks flying.

"Our previous commander retired a few months ago and I believe I just appointed a new one."

"Why didn't you appoint Tenzo then. He's nearly as experienced as me. And I'm just a normal jounin. Nothing particularly special."

Kakashi just raises one eyebrow leaning forward again. "You do know most Jounin and ANBU simultaneously respect you and are scared shitless of you, even more than they are of me. And you were on the highest performing team of ANBU in years, and it stayed that way even after I quit. So you were the perfect candidate". Their faces just a couple inches apart now. The atmosphere alight with a strange tension.

"That seems too much work", Genma frowns. Though he does feel pleased that Kakashi thinks so highly of him but he doesn't show it on his face.

"We should train together sometime", says Kakashi to Genma. She wants to see what her future self sees in him. He's clearly quite skilled.

Minato is not liking the atmosphere between them. He thinks something fishy is going on but can't put a finger on it.

Genma's face crumples as he finally resigns himself to his fate as he says "I was going retire dammit! and now, I'm stuck in a long-time position again".

"Well it's mostly a desk job so you'll be fine. And besides, why should I suffer alone." Kakashi says with a gleeful look in her eyes.

"You're so petty", Genma deadpans.

Kakashi gives him an eye smile and gets up from her desk. She picks up a bundle of paper and hands it to Genma over the desk, who takes it reluctantly. "And while you're here, do some paperwork".

"Great, now you're even making me do your paperwork, after you pulled me out of almost retirement", says Genma perturbed.

"Well clearly I didn't ask for it either. So its not my fault", says Kakashi indignantly. At this point they are just bickering not even making fully sense."

Obito just squints at them and then at the screen. He then nods to himself like he connected all the dots.

People are clearly not used to actually make it to retirement of their own accord or even living up to their 30's. They just shrug thinking that maybe this is what happens in peacetime.

"Paperwork destroys marriages, you know?", drawls out Genma.

Kakashi walks up to him and says, "Well, we did say Together, Forever, dear". Then in one swift motion she takes off her mask from one hand and reaches up to grab Genma's face in the other and kisses him then pulls her mask up. she then walks forward with her back showing on her Jacket saying Rokudaime.

"Deal with Shizune-chan for me. I'm going for a walk. Ja-ne", she lifts her left hand in the air and there on the third finger is a silver band shining. She then shunshin's out of the room in white smoke.

"Always so dramatic", says Genma with a fond smile but that quickly turns to a grimace when he sees the mountain of paperwork. "Well, better get started or Shizune and Shikamaru will have both of our hides". His hand is shown, wearing the same design silver band.

Kakashi and Genma both turn red and refuse to look at each other.

Minato was not ready for this. He chokes. Kushina is alternating between cooing or laughing at them.

Kakashi's pov

This morning when she woke up as usual, she never thought that her day would become such a shitshow. Her future private life advertised for all to see. 

Being a very private person and as someone who acts so aloof and cold towards practically everyone, she just never imagined that she would change so much. That she would act so emotionally and share her feelings so openly. That she would break rules rather than complete the mission.

She never thought she would look that happy as she did, even after she lost her sensei. Calling it a shock would be an understatement. It was like somebody slid the ground underneath from her. And she was drowning and being suffocated all t once. Which was not unlike how she felt after she lost her father. 

When she heard her future self call their father a hero, it was like a weight that was lifted from her and something in the back of her mind whispered 'finally'. 

After her father died, the walls she build around herself to keep the sadness out also kept out the joy. She never realized how much she cherishes the bonds she has with both Minato and Kushina. How much so that she would do anything to keep them alive. People she would never let go. And to think that she had even more people to call hers in the future. 

 Now she thinks she somewhat understands how she became like that in the future. Why she let people in again after loosing everyone in her life. She felt that as she saw the love and fondness in her eyes and actions towards these people.

It makes her angry at herself for not being enough to save them but also a part of her mind knows she can't control it. That losing comrades and cherished ones is part of the profession. But she promises herself that she will do better. Be a better student, a better teammate and a better teacher if she ever becomes one. She's still pondering what possessed her to become a teacher.

And she is resolutely ignoring the fact that she got married to a kid she never talked to before. 

Obito's pov

When he woke up today morning he was running late as usual for his classes. Just as he reached the building a sudden white light blinded him.

He saw numerous people and went to the only familiar group of people beside his clan were his friends.

None of them knew anything and it looked like no one in the room knew anything either.

His doubts were soon answered when Iris appeared and after listening to her he was pretty excited to see the future. All his friends Rin, Asuma, Kurenai, even Gai was here and look cool-as-a-cucumber-Genma were excited as well.

When he saw Kakashi, he wanted to talk to her but couldn't find the right moment. After all, he did consider Kakashi as a friend no matter how much they had fought and bickered while she was in the Academy. And then, she suddenly graduated one day and became much colder and hard to talk to. He rarely saw her anymore in the village. It almost seemed like she was avoiding him but then again she avoids everyone as no one saw her anymore. Well except Gai. But he always had an innate talent to find her.

Now she was sitting with her new Sensei and she looked fine. He was glad. Her Sensei and the pretty red haired woman both seem so cool. He inwardly looks with starry eyes.

And then it started. He had known that Kakashi's father died but not that he committed suicide. One after another, more and more horrible things were revealed telling how much she suffered. He was crying himself. He was always a sympathetic crier who cried way too easily. The joy he felt he heard that both Rin and Kakashi were going to be on a team with him, he felt ecstatic but that joy was soon weighed down by the knowledge that he was going to die.

If he was honest to himself, he was a little jealous of her of how much Rin liked her but he himself, was genuinely fond of her, and admired her greatly no matter how much he denied it. He had even set her as a goal for himself in his training. He just wants to get a good punch in. She always looks so smug. While he knows that's not possible now, but he is working towards it with the thought of one day.

The thought of dying did scare him but the thought of Rin dying terrified him. He did not want her to die. He didn't want any of his friends to die either. 

He was getting quite the looks due to him giving his Sharingan to Kakashi but decided that he would do it again. The dirty looks just made him more determined. His beliefs were reinforced when he heard of Sakumo Hatake choosing his comrades over the mission. Even the clan head looked like he would faint. He had to stop a laugh at that.
