Chapter Text
The sea was rather still, the waves calm, and the wind was gentle heading west catching in the sail taking the raft towards its destination. Tai was at the head of the raft with his eye in his telescope keeping an eye on the horizon, Agumon next to him. Mimi was sitting on one of the crates they filled with supplies, Palmon leaning against it. Matt is on the edge of the raft playing his harmonica with Gabumon sitting by his side. Sora was sitting near the opposite edge with her fishing rod Biyomon watching from next to her. Joe was checking the supplies they still had counting and recounting to make sure they weren’t eating their rations too fast, gomamon was talking to the fish nearby the raft. Izzy was checking the map to make sure they were heading the right direction, Tentomon looking over his shoulder. TK was running around the raft trying to make sure Poyomon and Zurumon didn't fall off of the raft into the sea.
It had been 3 days they had been at sea, still over a thousand miles to get to their destination, no land in sight.
Suddenly Tai saw something. “Hey everyone, I think there’s an island over there!”
“There shouldn’t be any islands between Server and File island” Izzy responded quickly, “Are you sure you aren’t just seeing things?”
“No, it's definitely there and it's approaching quickly.” Agumon yelled back.
“What type of island moves?” Sora questioned.
“Wouldn’t be the weirdest thing we saw while here” Joe calmly responded.
The island was almost next to the raft when they realized it wasn’t an island, it was a monstrous whale. ‘It's going to eat us” Mimi screamed.
And so it did, before long the digidestined were in the stomach of a whale, their raft dissolving as the seconds passed, the acid getting closer to destroying them too.
As the raft settled in the stomach however Zurumon began trying to wriggle out of TK’s arms, as if trying to reach something, he was squeaking as loud as he could, as if trying to yell at something or commanding something, when suddenly out of nowhere a black gear began to tear though the flesh of the whale’s stomach. After the gear came forth out of the whale’s stomach it flew directly towards Zurumon, getting absorbed into the tiny baby digimon.
Then moments later a massive flood of water appeared sweeping the digidestined up and out of the whale in a spout. They landed in the water, their raft in pieces, all of them hanging on to the nearest log.
“Sorry about that, don’t know why I tried to eat you, don’t normally eat boats” The whale said in a voice that was immensely loud and deep, yet was only the normal speaking volume for a creature of his size.
“It’s no big deal, you had a nasty black gear in you, those make digimon do evil things” Tai yelled back.
“Well thanks for getting rid of it for me, my name is Whamon, may I ask where you are going?” Whamon said.
“We are trying to get to the Server continent” Izzy explained
“I can take you there, as an apology for breaking your boat, it’s only a few days away for me” Whamon offered
“Sure we’ll take you up on that, say by the way do you know anything about the tags and crests that Devimon hid?” Tai asked
“I haven’t heard of tags and crests, but I heard Devimon hid something in a grotto near the bottom of the ocean, I can take you there. It's on the way to Server” Whamon picked them up in his mouth and set off for the cave.
It took Whamon only 10 hours to get to the deepsea cave, as it was quite nearby.
“We are now at the grotto, I’ll wait here, let me know when you are ready to go.” Whamon said as he opened his mouth near the lip of the water that was open to an underwater cave.
The digidestined began to explore the grotto, and encountered a narrow path that soon opened up into a larger open section of the grotto, which for some reason had a supermarket in the back. Soon after they reached the open cave some tremors started, causing rocks to fall, soon, a digimon, covered in purple fur on its back white on its belly, with a massive drill on its face and smaller ones for fingers, burst out of the ground the black gear reflecting the little light in the space, this one too caused Zurumon to react, and this one too began to pull out of the digimon’s head into the tiny yellow digimon’s body. The giant digimon quickly came to his senses and turned tail and left, ignoring the digidestined entirely.
“That was Drimogemon, he lives deep in the earth creating tunnels, I guess he didn’t want to be here though.” Tentomon said, filling the silence.
“Let's check out that supermarket, the tags are probably in there” Tai said, already walking over to the building.
The group joined him quickly and split up to search the store more effectively, Joe quickly saw a section with medical supplies and got distracted by whether or not the things in this store are still good to use “what do you thing guys, should we try some of these things, it would be good to have more supplies.”
“They seem to be in good condition, however we have no idea how long these have been here, it could be decades, or it could be centuries, it would be best to not risk it” Izzy responded “besides the food is probably rotten, and we can’t open the cans anyways”
Sora, Mimi, Matt, and TK were all searching the different isles, when Zurumon and Poyomon, wriggled out of TK’s arms running, if it could be called that, to a small wooden box on the lowest shelf. TK quickly caught up to the baby digimon and found the box, he quickly began to fiddle with the brass latch that kept the box closed, which allowed him to open it quickly, revealing 7 golden metallic pendants that had a glass section where one would slide something into, all of them had a thin silver thread except one which had a thin metal chain made of dark metal and light metal every other link. “Guys I think I found the tags!” TK yelled, getting the others attention.
“Thats awesome TK” Matt congratulated
“They appear to be intended to be worn, let us all grab one, however there is that one that is different, I wonder why it is different” Izzy began to reach for the one with a metal chain when Zurumon and Poyomon stopped him and brought the chain to TK as if asking him to wear this one. The group just accepted that as what was going to happen.
“Can we get out of here now, we got the tags and I'd like to get out of this dark cave” Mimi whined, and the group agreed with her and all went back to Whamon and got back on.
It was around 4 days later when Whamon said we had reached the continent and we disembarked from him and first set foot on the continent, he also told us about the Koromon village near where he was dropping us.
It took only a few hours of walking to arrive at the village, but it was obvious to the group something was off, there were no Koromon, only Pagumon.
“I can smell Koromon so it's not likely Whamon’s information was wrong” Agumon said. “But they aren’t here now, maybe they recently for some reason and these Pagumon moved in” Sora suggested, “The sent is too fresh, its like they were here yesterday, not like they left a while ago” Agumon responded, “they don’t seem to want to harm us, we should at least take their offer to stay the night, and leave first thing in the morning” Tai recommended.
And so they did, they stayed in the Pagumon village, the Pagumon soon brought them food, Agumon chose to eat very little, still reasonably suspicious of the Pagumon. In the middle of the meal Zurumon and Poyomon began to shake and quiver with energy, TK’s digivice began to glow with a soft light that began to envelop the two baby digimon causing the both of them to digivolve into their in-training forms, Pagumon and Tokomon respectively.
