"There were many days, good and bad, that Kai would remember from the past year. Meeting Cinder. Watching Cinder arrive to the ball, finding himself completely mesmerized by the intensely beautiful glamour she had somehow exuded. Being kidnapped (rescued!) by Cinder right before he was supposed to get married to Levana.
Okay, so most of the good ones were because Cinder was there. There was plenty of bad. Watching his father die from letumosis had been horrible. That period where he had been convinced Cinder was an evil Lunar. Every single interaction he ever had with Levana. Actually having to get married to Levana.
But today? Today was a glorious day. Cinder was about to be crowned as the queen of Luna."
The rebellion against Levana has succeeded; it is time for Cinder to be crowned as Queen. Kai can't help but be proud.
