Chapter Text
“I sense you have your own plan as well,” he stated, his eyes briefly shifting to the child standing a few steps behind Samael. He couldn’t shake the feeling that he had seen that particular shade of blue in someone’s irises before...
It wasn’t until later, when he’d regained enough strength to speak without pain, that he addressed Todo-san:
“That child, the half-demon who was beside Samael... doesn’t it seem familiar to you?” he asked, not expecting any kind of revelation.
“Well, she resembles that girl who showed up at the old base we occupied six years ago, Captain,” she replied.
Yes... that strange child who one day appeared out of nowhere — and just as suddenly, vanished.
It was the first time in years someone had come that close to him without him noticing. For a moment, he just stared stupidly into those azure eyes that looked so familiar, yet so foreign.
“Do they bother you too?” the child, likely a Nerphlin, asked.
Only then did Lucifer snap out of the... trance? No. He was the most powerful demon after the Father himself. It was impossible he’d been enchanted. And yet... there was something strange about this child.
Months passed since that day, and the girl began visiting him daily. No one could figure out how the blue-eyed child managed to get in and out, but one thing was certain — in just a week, she’d won his affection. Every time she showed up with that sunny smile and sparkling eyes, telling him about her day or some bit of folklore from a local ethnic group while cuddling up to his side, all his pain seemed to disappear.
Demons are territorial by nature, loyal to their “family,” but when a young one appears — especially in danger — there are no unbreakable boundaries.
So when the girl came again, this time with wounds she stubbornly tried to hide despite the strong scent of blood, and her smile and sparkle began to fade, Todo-san barely managed to stop him from hunting down and tearing apart those who had dared harm his little sister.
Because that’s what she was.
And he was her big brother.
Lucifer knew he shouldn’t let her return to wherever she came from when, one winter night, she showed up in nothing but a nightgown, barefoot and trembling.
When he asked what had happened, she simply burst into tears. The green-eyed demon sat beside her as she cried herself to sleep, clinging to him like her life depended on it.
Only in the morning did he find out what had happened: apparently, she, her brother, father, and others were supposed to celebrate her and her twin's birthday.
Rin had secretly worked for neighbors to buy gifts for her brother and father, cooked their favorite meals, and helped with all the preparations since morning. But before they even sat at the table, someone from her father’s work called — and almost everyone, including her brother, left the house.
Lucifer hadn’t felt that kind of fury in a long time.
For the next three days, the girl never left his side, maintaining constant physical contact. Not that he minded — in demon culture, physical touch, especially gestures like hugging, is reserved for the closest ones and expresses deep care.
Following Todo’s advice, he decided to give her a present. At first, he didn’t understand why, but Todo explained that gifts given with someone in mind are a human norm — so he did just that.
The way her eyes lit up when he gave her a book about Slavic myths, and the joy in her voice, was more than enough reason.
For the next few days, she always carried that book and happily told him about its contents for hours.
There was also the time she showed up with a tattered pink plush rabbit, angrily telling him about the boy from her class who had taken it without permission.
They spent hours learning different sewing techniques to repair the bunny as best they could.
One day, she came as usual — but stayed late into the night. She looked like she didn’t want to go back. If he could’ve, he would’ve given his heart to keep her then and there.
But she never returned, leaving behind only the pink plush rabbit.
Rin Okumura.
So much time had passed, and only now did he learn her name.
Only now did he discover that the child who had so quickly earned his affection — the one who’d run up to him joyfully yelling “Niichan!” — had always been his youngest sibling.
And now, she was under the constant surveillance of the Vatican, which wouldn’t hesitate to kill Rin for the slightest mistake.
When they met again, Lucifer would make sure she never had to return to that place — no matter the cost.
As it turned out, he didn’t have to wait long.
Rin appeared just a few days later, alongside several exorcists, to save her friend.
He ordered the local chief scientist to get rid of the exorcists and bring his younger sister to him.
Apparently, he hadn’t been clear enough, because not long after, he felt it — not fear, but pure terror coming from Rin.
He immediately appeared beside his sister, finding her curled up in the corner of an experimental chamber, shaking with fright while her blue flames formed a barrier between her and a massive ghoul trying to break through.
Lucifer didn’t hesitate — he tore the ghoul to shreds and carried his little sister to the room he had prepared just for her.
There, he embraced her like he used to when she was small, gently stroking her back as she mumbled apologies and promises that “it” — whatever it was — wouldn’t happen again.
Soon, the room was filled with the calming scent of mock-orange and other flowers. A moment later, Amaimon and Mephisto arrived.
The Earth King lay down beside him and Rin, hugging their youngest sibling as well. Mephisto settled nearby, watching Rin intently.
It didn’t take long before Rin, exhausted, fell asleep nestled between Lucifer and Amaimon.
Only then did Mephisto speak.
“What happened?” he asked, never taking his eyes off their sister, whose hair Amaimon was now playing with.
“I told them to bring Imoto-Rin to me, but someone locked her in a room with a ghoul,” Lucifer replied, also keeping his eyes on her.
“I hope the one responsible will pay for that,” said the King of Time, sitting down with his siblings.
“I’ll personally make sure they do,” Lucifer answered, holding Rin tighter, feeling the anger and concern of their Father in the back of his mind.
He was the one who most wanted his daughter to come home.
Lucifer let out a quiet sigh and closed his eyes to rest for just a moment…
When he opened them again, Rin was already gone.
