Sonic giggles as he runs through the rolling hills of the new planet he was on.
Things had been pretty good since he arrived on this ‘Earth’. He had a huge cave, bigger than the hut he used to live in, plenty of wide open space for him to run, absolutely no bad guys after him.
“Sonic! I got grub!”
And the absolute coolest roommate ever!
The little 5 year old hedgehog excitedly sprints over the entrance of the cave as the green hedgehog drops in, brown paper bags filled with warm food in his hand.
“It smells so good!”
“Yeah, sure. Just don't choke while you eat.” Sonic smiles as he takes a bag, eagerly digging in to the stolen burger and purposefully ignoring the other hedgehog’s usual grumpiness.
I don't know why he's so angry all the time, this place is great! Maybe he's just homesick like I was.
Sonic has devoured his small dinner while Scourge absentmindedly ate and flipped through a newspaper.
“Hey Scourge! Can I go run!?”
“Sure, go do whatever you want. Just be back in the cave before dark.”
He is so awesome, I can do anything I want and he doesn't even care!
With an excited giggle Sonic took off from the cave, weaving through the tall trees and bumpy ground at breakneck speeds, not even paying attention to where he was going since he could actually run.
Everything starts to slow down when he comes to a stop near a flowing creek, cupping up water and drinking quickly to clench his growing thirst.
“Rowr?”
Sonic's ears perk up at the unfamiliar noise, then his eyes sparkle as he sees a small black furry creature approaching him curiously, a second one right behind it
“Well hi!” With a giggle he reaches out and pats one on the head then laughs as he starts playing with them.
“You guys are so cute!” His laugh echoes as he chases one behind a tree. “What are you guys called? I think I heard a human call you guys-”
“BEAR! SONIC GET DOWN!”
A monstrous roar explodes above Sonic, and he screams as he narrowly get yanked away from a giant clawed paw that would have scratched him across the face.
Scourge is seething as speeds away from the ornery mother bear, being a little firm as he sets the shaken blue hedgehog on a fallen log.
“What the hell were you thinking!? Why would you mess with bear cubs while the mom was right there!?”
Sonic gulps, scrunching down as he experiences Scourge's anger for the first time. “I-I- was just having fun…”
“‘Fun’!? Sonic, do you not understand that if I didn't come after you, that bear would have killed you!? Do you want that to happen!?”
Sonic breath hitches as he shakes his head. “N-no-...”
Scourge growls slightly as he grips the side of his head. “Then use some common sense and don't run into things completely oblivious!!”
He's so scary. “O-ok….”
Scourge sighs as he rubs where he was gripping. “Just, go back to the cave and pack up, we need to move out of that bear’s territory.”
Sonic slowly nods as he runs alongside the green hedgehog, tail tucked between his legs. “Where are we moving to next?”
“I've been eyeing some place in Montana called Green Hills. It looks safe enough.”
Maybe that can be our forever home. Just don't get into any more trouble, Sonic.
