Chapter Text

Magnus and Alec have been married for a year now, and whenever they can get a chance, they are in the bedroom having sex. About a month later, Magnus starts to see some changes to his body, but he thinks that it's just a normal stomach bug. But later, he takes a pregnancy test and sees that he is pregnant. Later that day, when Alec comes to talk to him, he can tell that there is something wrong with Magnus, so he decides to talk with him.

Alec: Hey, Magnus, are you okay? You look a little upset.

Magnus: Yeah, I'm Fine. *Starts to Cry*

Alec: No, you're not, you only cry when you're upset about something.

Magnus: I woke up this morning and I saw that there were some changes to my body, and I thought it was just a bug, but I later called Cat and she told me that she thought I was pregnant and that I should take a pregnancy test, and what I found out made me a little scared.

Alec: What did you find out?

Magnus: That what Cat thought was true, I'm Pregnant. I was hoping that we would have talked about this before...

But before Magnus could finish talking, Alec kissed him, probably to shut Magnus up, but that was not the case.

Alec: Magnus, why didn't you come and tell me? You know that you can tell me anything besides we are married, you can tell me anything.

Magnus: Well, I thought you didn't want to have kids because of the Clave having a rule about it.

Alec: We changed one rule when we got married, and of course, I want to have kids, especially with the one I love in the whole world. *Wipes the tears from Magnus's eyes*

Magnus: I'm sorry for not telling you sooner.

Alec: It's okay, Magnus, I don't care about you not telling me, I love you.

Magnus: I love you too, Alexander.

Magnus is 2 months into his pregnancy, and he has 1 month until he starts to show. Alec comes back home from the Institute at about 3 in the afternoon because ever since Magnus got pregnant, he has been coming home early so he can be with Magnus.

Magnus: Hey, Alexander

Alec: Yes, Magnus

Magnus: I want to talk to you about my Pregnancy

Alec: Ok, what do you want to talk about

Magnus: Well, the only people who know about this are you, me, and Cat. I think we should tell your family

Alec: Yeah, I guess we should, but maybe not my parents, we should tell them separately

Magnus: Yeah, that might be a good idea. So basically, tell Isabelle, Jace, Clary, Simon, Raphael, and Max

Alec: Yeah, maybe we should do it as soon as possible

Magnus: Why don't we tell them Tomorrow

Alec: Yes, let's do that

Magnus: I am glad my father is in Edom because I don't want him anywhere near our baby

Alec: Agreed *Kisses Magnus*

Magnus and Alec get ready for bed, and after getting ready for bed and getting into bed, Magnus lies in Alec's arms, and Alec places his hands on Magnus's Stomach where the baby was lying and gave Magnus a kiss on the cheek.

The next day, Magnus and Alec get ready to go and tell Alec's Family and so on, So Friends about Magnus's pregnancy. Magnus and Alec arrived at the Institute, and to their surprise, everyone was in Alec's office. He thought he would have to call everyone to his office.

Alec: Hey, Guys, I thought I would have to call you into the office

Isabelle: Well, big brother, we heard that you and Magnus were coming in to do something, and we figured we would ask you...

Alec: Ask me what

Jace: Why have you been leaving so early, idiot

Alec: Well, I was actually going to have all of you come here so we could explain that

Clary: What are you guys getting a divorce or something

Magnus: Where in Edom did you get that idea, Biscuit

Alec: No, we are not getting a divorce

Isabelle: Then what is it, big brother

As Magnus and Alec looked at each other with a nervous look.

Alec: Magnus and I are having a child, and before anyone asks, no, we are not adopting. Magnus is Pregnant

Isabelle, Jace, and Clary look surprised.

Clary: Congratulations, you two

Magnus: Thanks, Biscuit

Isabelle: Congrats, Big Brother

Jace: You're going to be a great Father, both of you are

Alec & Magnus: Thank you all

Isabelle & Clary: How far along are you, Magnus

Magnus: 2 Months, I have one more month until I start to show

Alec: This is why I have been leaving so early, so I...

As Isabelle cuts her brother off.

Isabelle: We understand

Clary: Have you told both of your parents yet

Alec: No, we are about to tell my mom, but we aren't going to tell Magnus's father and my dad

Clary: Why shouldn't they know about them having a Grandson or Granddaughter

Magnus: I don't really trust my father after what he did to me when I was younger, so I don't think I would trust him with our child, and Alexander agrees, after everything I told him about

Alec: And after Dad cheated on Mom, I don't trust him either

Isabelle: Ok, talk about holding a grudge, but you guys should go and tell Mom and Max

Alec: Yeah, we should bye guys

Clary, Jace, Isabelle: Bye

Magnus and Alec leave to go and talk with Alec's parents and younger brother Max. Alec called his mother and told her to get herself and Max to Their Apartment around noon, but he didn't say why.

Magnus and Alec arrived at their apartment, and they saw that Alec's mother and younger brother were about 2 hours early, so before they headed into the room, they had a quick chat about how they were going to do this. They decided that they would act normal, which is Magnus offering them something to drink and them sitting next to each other holding hands with a loving look in their eyes, with the occasional kiss.

Alec: Mom, Max, you guys are 2 hours early

Maryse: Well, we were on the way to the Institute, so we decided to stop by and find out why you wanted us here

Alec: Ok

Alec and Magnus open the door to the apartment, and Maryse and Max walk in behind them. Magnus offers Maryse a drink, and later comes back into the room to give her the drink and sits down next to Alec.

Alec: Well, the reason we wanted you to come is that we have something to tell you

Maryse: What is it? Are you guys getting a divorce

Magnus: Why does everyone think that

Alec: No, and that is never going to happen,

Maryse: Well, what is it

Alec and Magnus look at each other, then turn back to Maryse and Max

Alec: Magnus and I are having a child, so Mom, you are having a Grandchild, and Max, you are having a Niece or Nephew

Maryse: Really, you guys are adopting a child

Magnus: Alexander, you left a part out

Alec: Oh yeah, no mom, we aren't adopting Magnus, is Pregnant

Maryse: Wait, what

Magnus: Yeah, we know what a surprise

Max: Congrats, Alec

Alec: Thanks, Max. Mom, you are oddly quiet over there

Maryse: Yeah, I am just trying to get an idea of the two of you getting pregnant

Magnus: Let me help you out. It's a warlock thing

Maryse: Well, I am happy for you both

Max: Me Too

Maryse: Well, Max, we should get going to the Institute

Max: Fine, Mom

Alec: Oh, hey, Mom, can you like not tell Dad about this? We aren't telling either of our dads because we don't really trust them.

Maryse: Ok, I can't say the same thing about Jace and Isabelle

Magnus: It's ok, we already told them

Maryse: Ok, I will see you guys later, Magnus, take care of yourself and my Grandchild

Magnus: Will do

Maryse, Max, Alec & Magnus say goodbye, and then Alec sits back down next to Magnus

Alec: Well, Mom took that better than I expected

Magnus: Yeah, now we have to tell Simon and Raphael because sooner or later Isabelle and Clary are going to tell them. Also, I have to choose one of them to be in charge of the downworld while I am pregnant

Alec: Let's figure that out later. How about we just lie down for a little bit

Magnus: Yeah, that's a good Idea

Magnus and Alec had to lie down and spend the whole day together. Alec didn't even pick up calls from the institute while they were together

The next day, Alec wakes up bright and really and heads to the kitchen to make breakfast for Magnus. Alec finishes making breakfast for Magnus and goes to see if Magnus is up he walks into the bedroom and gives Magnus a kiss on the forehead, and Magnus wakes up to his husband's beautiful face.

Alec: Good Morning, Magnus

Magnus: Good Morning, Alexander

Alexander brings Magnus the breakfast that he made for him.

Magnus: Thank you, Alexander. It's very sweet of you

Alec: Well, I figured that you could sleep in a little bit while I made you some breakfast that we could eat before we go and talk to Simon, Raphael, and Luke about who is taking over for you.

Magnus: Oh yeah, your kid has been kicking me in the sides all night. I just forgot all about that

Alec: Ok, well, you eat, I am going to get a shower and get ready

Magnus: All right, Love you, Alexander

Alec: Love you too, Magnus

Magnus and Alec get ready to go and meet with the 2 vampires and the werewolf to talk about his pregnancy. Magnus and Alec met up with the 3 of them at the hunter's moon, like the way they would do the downworlder meetings.

*At the hunter's moon*

Magnus: Luke, Raphael, Simon, good to see all of you guys

Luke: Good to see you too, Magnus

Raphael: Magnus, why is your Shadowhunter Boyfriend here

Simon: More like Husband, Raphael

Magnus: Ok, you 2 stop arguing

Luke: So why did you call us, and why isn't Meliorn here

Magnus: Well, I have to talk to you, Luke, and Raphael about something, and Simon is here for something else also. I don't think Melrion would want to hear this story.

Raphael: Ok, and what's that

Magnus: Ok, Luke, Raphael, I wanted to talk to you two because you guys are the heads of your groupings. I won't be able to be the head of the downworlders for about 7 months. I have something going on and want to know which one I can trust to be the head of the downworlders.

Simon: Definitely not Raphael because he has a bit of a temper, so I say, Luke

Raphael: Shut up, Day lighter

Magnus: Can I trust you, Luke

Luke: Of course, now why are you not going to be working

Magnus and Alec grab each other's hands, and what everyone didn't know was that Melrion had walked into the bar. Meliorn puts on a disguise so he can hear what they are talking about

Magnus: Okay, so this is why I had Meliorn not come, Simon. I don't know if Clary told you anything, but... Alexander and I had a little too much fun, and the reason I am not able to work as the head of the downworlders is that Alec and I are having a child, and no, we are not adopting, stupid warlock thing.

Luke: Congrats, both of you

Raphael: Yeah, Congrats

Simon: So that's why Clary looked so excited yesterday

Magnus: Yeah, but remember, don't tell Meliorn because he is going to tell the Seelie Queen, and knowing her, she will take me and Alec and force us to stay there until the baby is born.

Raphael: Of course, we won't, Magnus

Alec: We should get going, Magnus

Magnus: Yeah, we should get going. Bye, guys

Luke, Raphael, and Simon: Bye

Meliron: So, Magnus and his Shadowhunter Boyfriend are expecting a child. I have to tell the Seelie Queen.

Magnus and Alec are on the way back to the apartment, but they decided to take a walk through the park, and they see a man that they saw at the hunter's moon heading to the water opening where Seelies will enter and exit the Seelie court. The man they saw took off his disguise, and they saw that it was Meliron. They walked over to him and asked him if he had heard anything at the bar.

Magnus: Meliron, what were you doing at the hunter's moon? We didn't have a downworld meeting tonight, that is next week

Meliron: The queen heard that some of the leaders of the downworld were meeting at the hunter's moon, so she sent me to find out what was going on, and when I came in, you guys said Why didn't you call me, so I put on a disguise to hear what you guys were talking about. I know what is going on with you two

Magnus: Meliron, please, whatever you do, please don't tell the Seelie Queen if she finds out about our child, she will make us stay in the Seelie court, and then she will keep the child for her own

Meliron: I will try my best not to tell her, but you know that Seelies can't lie

Magnus: I know, but we just want to raise our child in peace, Meliron, please, I will do anything for you

Meliron: Fine, I will try not to tell her

Magnus: Thank you, Meliron. What do you want me to do for you

Meliron: I will have to think about that, but I will let you know

Magnus: Fine

Meliron: See you later, Magnus

Meliron leaves and heads back to the Seelie Court.

Alec: Well, that was Interesting

Magnus: I agree

Alec: Shall we head home

Magnus: We Shall

Magnus and Alec head home. While they are on the way home, the Seelie Queen asks Meliron what he found out.

Amara (Seelie Queen): So, Meliron, what did you find out

Meliron: I found out that one of the leaders is going to have a baby

Amara: Okay, aren't all of the leaders dating a Shadowhunter

Meliron: Yes, your highness

Amara: So we have a mixed breed coming

Meliron: Yes, we do

Amara: How far along is the baby

Meliron: 2 months

Amara: Okay, we will find out sooner or later

Meliron: Yes, we will

Amara: You are dismissed

Meliron: Yes, your Highness

Meliron leaves the court and heads home. Now Luke, Raphael, Simon, Alec, Magnus, & Meliron are back home and getting a chance to relax.

Alec and Magnus are five months into Magnus' pregnancy, and they are getting ready to find out what their baby's gender is. Magnus and Alec are outside Catarina's house.

Magnus: Hey, are you ready

Alec: Yeah, let's find out about our baby

Magnus: Alright

Magnus and Alec head inside Catarina's house. After 10 minutes of Catarina getting things ready, they are now finally finding the gender of the baby.

Catarina: So, do guys have any preferences on the baby's gender

Magnus: We don't care what the baby is as long as the baby is healthy

Catarina: Well, your baby is very healthy

Alec: That's good

Catarina: And you have a healthy baby girl

Magnus: WOW

Alec: I know

Catarina: You know, Magnus, I haven't seen you this happy in a long time

Magnus: I couldn't be happier, especially when I am with Alec; that's why I married him

Alec: I couldn't be happier. This is the best thing that has ever happened in my life

Catarina: Well, see you guys in a few months

Alec & Magnus: Okay

Magnus and Alec leave Catarina's house and head home. When Alec and Magnus get home, they sit down on the couch.

Alec: So

Magnus: So

Alec: Are we ready to have this baby

Magnus: Yeah, I think we are

Alec: I mean, besides, we both grew up with horrible dads

Magnus: Yeah, and look at us, we turned out good, so our daughter will end up fine

Alec: Yeah, and she will have a caring, kind, and loving family

Magnus: Minus our dads

Alec: Yeah, I love you

Magnus: I love you too

Alec and Magnus lay on the couch, cuddling together, knowing that the next 4 months would fly by really quickly.

Magnus and Alec are at home resting because Magnus's due date is just around the corner. Alec has noticed that he has been becoming a little more overprotective of Magnus and the baby. Catarina told us that it would be common for a soon-to-be dad to become overprotective because there is a switch in your brain that says Protect your child. Today was Magnus' due date, which meant Alec was home with Magnus to make sure he was there when Magnus went into labor so they could be in this together. It is 8 PM and Magnus still hasn't gone into labor, but what happens next shocks both Magnus and Alec.

Magnus: Alexander

Alec: Yeah

Magnus: We need to call Cat

Alec: Why

Magnus: My water just broke

Alec: Alright, let's call Cat and get to the Hospital

Magnus and Alec head over to the hospital. Magnus is in the room, and Alec is waiting for his sister and family to get there so they can meet the baby. Magnus had to have a C-section because of the way the baby was lying. About 10 minutes later, Izzy, Jace, Clary, and Simon all show up.

Izzy: Hey, Alec

Alec: He,y Izzy

Clary: So, Where is Magnus

Alec: He is in the C-Section Room

Jace: Why does he need a C-Section

Alec: Because of the way the baby is lying

Simon: So, you ready to be a dad

Alec: Yeah, ready as I'll ever be

A few minutes later, Alec's mom and Luke show up.

Maryse: Alec

Alec: Hey, Mom

Luke: Hey, Bud

Alec: Hey, Luke

Maryse: You ready to be a father

Alec: Ready as I'll ever be

Luke: You will be a great father, Alec

Alec: Thanks, I'm glad someone thinks so

Izzy: He isn't the only one who thinks that big bro

Maryse: We all do

Alec: Thank you, guys

A few hours later, there is a crying baby sound coming from the room where they put Magnus in. Catarina comes out into the waiting room where Alec and all of his family are sitting.

Catarina: Alec

Alec: Yeah

Catarina: You ready to meet your daughter

Alec: Ready as I'll ever be

Alec stands up and follows Catarina to Magnus' room. When they get to Magnus' room, Catarina tells Alec.

Catarina: I will bring your family back in a few minutes

Alec: Okay

Catarina leaves, and Alec walks into Magnus' room to see his husband holding a tiny baby wrapped in a blanket. Alec walks over and sits down next to his husband and his newborn daughter.

Alec: Hey

Magnus: Hey

Alec: How are you feeling

Magnus: Tired but good

Alec: She is beautiful, just like you

Magnus: She has some of her most amazing features from you

Alec: What is that

Magnus: Her eyes

Alec: Okay

Magnus: Here, hold her

Alec: Okay

Alec takes their daughter from Magnus.

Magnus: So maybe we should have talked about this before she was here, but now that she is, we need a name

Alec: Yeah

Magnus: So what should we name her

Alec: Well, I have a good middle name, but I can't think of a first name

Magnus: What is the middle name

Alec: I wanted to use Lily after your mother

Magnus: Alec, I love that idea

Alec: Thanks, but what we still need is a first name for our baby girl

Magnus: Yeah

Alec: What about like Eliza or something

Magnus: I like Eliza

Alec: So, we have our name

Magnus: Yes, we do

Alec and Magnus finish talking, and Catarina brings Alec and Magnus' family back to meet Eliza.

Clary: Hey, Magnus

Magnus: Hey, Biscuit

Clary: How are you feeling

Magnus: Fine, but tired

Izzy: So...

Alec: Here, Izzy, meet your niece

Alec stands up and hands Eliza to Izzy

Izzy: She is beautiful, you guys

Alec: Thank you, Izzy

Izzy: Here, Mom

Izzy hands Eliza over to Maryse.

Maryse: WOW, am I that old already

All except Jace: No

Jace: Kinda

Alec & Clary: Jace

Jace: What

All except Maryse: Shut up

Clary: Can I see her

Maryse: Sure, you can, Clary

Maryse hands Eliza to Clary.

Clary: WOW, she is so cute, you guys did well with her

Magnus: Thanks, Biscuit

Clary: Here, hold her, Jace

Clary hands Eliza to Jace. As soon as Clary hands Eliza to Jace, she starts to yawn and whine.

Jace: Great, I think my niece hates me

Magnus: Jace, she doesn't hate you

Jace: Then...

Alec: It just means that she is tired

Jace: Oh

Alec: See, when you settle down and have kids, you won't make the same mistake

Jace: Thanks, Alec, that made me feel good. Here, Luke, you hold her

Jace hands Eliza to Luke.

Luke: WOW, I haven't held a baby since the day Clary was born. I must be old

Alec: Okay, neither of you is old, stop saying that

Luke: Nice job, Magnus

Magnus: Thanks, Luke

Luke: You still need me to work with the downworlders

Magnus: Could you? If you don't mind

Luke: I don't mind at all. Here is your daughter

Luke hands Eliza back to Magnus.

Izzy: Well, we should probably head home. It is a little late

Clary: Yeah

All: Bye

Alec & Magnus: Bye, Guys

Everyone leaves, and Magnus and Alec are sitting on the bed with Eliza. In a few days, Alec and Magnus will take Eliza home.

It has been a few days since Eliza was born, and today Magnus and Alec are taking her home. While Magnus is getting dressed, Alec is sitting on the bed holding Eliza. After Magnus gets dressed, he comes out and sits down next to Alec.

Magnus: Hey

Alec: Hey, you ready to go

Magnus: Yeah

The two stand up, and Magnus takes Eliza from Alec.

*At Home*

Alec and Magnus arrive home with Eliza. When they get home, Magnus puts Eliza to bed.

Magnus: Alright, I'm gonna put her to bed

Alec: Okay

*In Eliza's Room*

Magnus walks in, puts her to bed, and sings the song that his mother sang to him when he was a little boy, not knowing that Alec was standing in the doorway.

Eliza falls asleep, and Magnus starts to head out into the living room when he sees Alec standing at the doorway.

Magnus: Oh my Angel, how much of that did you hear

Alec: Pretty much all of it

Magnus: Oh boy

Alec: You have a great voice

Magnus: Thanks

Alec: You're mother sang that song to you before she died

Magnus: Yeah, even though the song isn't Indonesian

Alec: What is it

Magnus: Spanish, she learned it when she was little, growing up in Venezuela with her siblings

Alec: Really

Magnus: Yeah

Alec: Well, let's hope we can relax a little bit before Eliza wakes up

Magnus: Yeah

*2 Hours Later*

Magnus and Alec are kissing on the couch, where their little baby wakes up.

Alec: Okay, this is gonna be crazy

Magnus: Yeah, I'll get her

Alec: Okay

Chapter Text

Alec and Magnus have been so happy with their family. Magnus and Alec have not gotten much sleep since she was born, but they knew this would happen way before Eliza was born. Eliza is now 2 weeks old, and because she was born to a Warlock and a Shadowhunter, she would be showing her mark if she were all Warlock, and if she were all Shadowhunter, she would be saying her first words by now. Alec and Magnus have been staying home a lot of the time. Alec would bring work home from the Institute and do it at home, so he would be there when she shows which species she is. Today, Magnus and Alec are sitting on the couch with their baby girl in their arms when something surprises them. 

Magnus: Hey, Alec 

Alec: Yeah, what’s up 

Magnus: I was just thinkin,g shouldn’t she have shown what species she is by now 

Alec: Yeah, she should have, but she might just be a late developer. It’s normal, you know, Izzy and Max were late developers 

Magnus: Really 

Alec: Yeah, it took them 4 weeks after they were born for them to develop 

Magnus: WOW, 

Alec: What’s with the look 

Magnus: I’m just really happy. I never thought I would be in this situation 

Alec: What, you mean married and have a baby

Magnus: Yeah

Alec: Neither did I, but I am glad it was with you 

Magnus: I’m glad I have you and Eliza

Alec: Yeah, I am too 

Alec kisses Magnus on the head and does the same thing to Eliza.

Magnus: Hey, could you grab me a water from the fridge 

Alec: Yeah, sure thing 

Alec stands up, heads into the kitchen, and grabs a bottle of water when he hears Magnus call him. 

Magnus: Hey, Alec, you might want to see this 

Alec comes into the living room, forgetting about the water. 

Alec: What is it 

Magnus: Look at this 

Alec comes over and sits back down next to Magnus, looking at their little girl.

Alec: Looks like she’s a warlock 

Magnus: Yeah, looks like she is 

Alec: I think I am outrun here with two warlocks in the house 

Magnus: Yeah, I guess you are 

Just as Magnus said, they hear Eliza start to whine, and she is moving her lips like she is trying to say something. 

Alec: Does it look like she is trying to say something, or am I just sleep-deprived 

Magnus: Both, what is it, honey 

Eliza: Da

Alec: Is she trying to say something 

Eliza: Da

Magnus: Yeah, what is it, sweetheart

Eliza: Dada

Magnus: Oh my Angel

Alec: Did she just say her first word 

Magnus: Yeah, she did, and she said your name 

Alec: Yeah, she did

Magnus: Come on, baby girl, say it again 

Eliza: Dada 

Magnus: Oh my Angel 

Alec and Magnus give each other a kiss and pull their little girl into a hug and kiss her on the head. 

Magnus: At least you are not the only Shadowhunter in the family 

Alec: Yeah

Magnus: She is so cute with her eyes like this 

Alec: You know who she reminds me of 

Magnus: Who 

Alec: You 

Magnus: Aw, you are so sweet 

Alec: Let’s put this little one down for bed, and you and I spend some time together 

Magnus: Let’s do that, come on, little one, let’s get you to bed 

Alec and Magnus take the baby into her bedroom and put her in her crib, and they start to sing. 

Magnus and Alec finish singing, and they leave their daughter’s bedroom and head into their bedroom, which is across from their daughter’s room, and start to make out, later moving into having sex, which they haven't had since they got pregnant with Eliza. 

*3 Hours later* 

Magnus and Alec hear their daughter starting to cry, so Magnus quickly pulls some clothes on and heads into Eliza’s room to feed her, then puts her back in her bed and heads back to his and Alec’s room to fall asleep in Alec’s arms.

The next morning, Alec was woken up by the emptiness of the bedside next to him. Magnus had woken up a few minutes earlier to take care of the baby, Magnus, who is standing by Eliza's crib, picking her up out of the crib to change her diaper and get her into her clothes for the day. After Magnus changes Eliza's diaper and gets her dressed, Alec comes in behind Magnus.

Magnus: Alright, all clean, little one, let's get you something to eat

Alec: Yes, because we have a long day

Magnus: What do you mean

Alec: I figured we go out and enjoy the day as a family

Magnus: Aw, that sounds like a wonderful idea

Alec: I figured it would be a good idea to get out of the house as a family

Magnus: You are so sweet, I love you

Alec: I love you too

Alec and Magnus finish getting Eliza ready for the day. After getting her ready Alec feeds her while Magnus gets dressed since Alec was already dressed. Alec is sitting on the couch with Eliza when Magnus comes out and sees that he doesn't have any makeup on.

Magnus: Hey, ready to go

Alec: Yeah, you look really good. Why don't you have any makeup on today

Magnus: I figured I wouldn't wear any today. Why do you like me without any makeup on

Alec: Yeah, you look really good. I like you without makeup on

Magnus: I guess I should keep my makeup off more often. Here, I'll take Eliza

Alec hands Eliza to Magnus.

Alec: Alright, let's get going

Alec and Magnus head out of their apartment.

*A Few Hours Later*

The three of them head to the park because Alec knew that the entrance to the Seelie realm was closed today. Alec, Magnus, and Eliza are in the park eating lunch together. While they are eating lunch, Meliron comes over to them, seeing the three of them together.

Meliron: Hey Magnus, Hey Alec

Alec: Hey Meliron

Magnus: Hey, Meliron, how are you

Meliron: I'm good. Who is this little one

Magnus: This is our daughter, Eliza

Meliron: She is so sweet. What is her full name

Alec: Eliza Lily Lightwood-Bane

Meliron: You named her middle name after your mother, that is really sweet

Magnus: Actually, Alec thought of it

Meliron: That is so sweet, that is the best idea I have ever heard of, Alec

Alec: Well, what better way to choose a name than to name them after someone you knew and lost

Magnus: I couldn't agree more

Alec: Also, before it slips my head, Meliron, why are you here

Magnus: Yeah, I thought the park's entrance to the Seelie realm was closed today

Meliron: Oh yeah, but I figured I would take a walk through the park and then head back to the realm

Alec: Sounds like a good idea

Magnus: Yeah

Meliron: I should get going, I have some things to do

Magnus: Yeah, we should get going so we can put the little one here down for a nap

Alec: Yeah

While Magnus is holding the baby, Alec packs everything, and they get ready to leave.

Magnus: Well, I guess we will see you around Meliron

Meliron: Yeah, see you guys around

Alec & Magnus: Bye

Meliron: Bye, guys

Alec and Magnus take the baby home and put her down for her nap while the two of them have an at-home date night.

Magnus: This has been the best day ever, thank you so much, Alexander

Alec: You're welcome to anything for the love of my life, and I'm glad you enjoyed today, Magnus. I love you so much

Magnus: I love you too, Alexander

*Eliza Cries*

Alec: I got her

Magnus: Okay

While this is happening, Meliron is in the Seelie realm talking to the queen.

Meliron: Your Majesty, I have some news

Amara: What is it, Meliron

Meliron: You remember the crossbreed baby that I told you about 7 months ago

Amara: Of course

Meliron: The baby was born

Amara: Really, to whom

Meliron: Magnus Lightwood-Bane and Alexander Lightwood-Bane

Amara: A shadowhunter warlock baby, just like Tessa Gray, is the little one, a girl or a boy

Meliron: A girl, her name is Eliza Lily Lightwood-Bane. She is a mixture of Alec and Magnus in her looks

Amara: So she must be strong. We must get that baby in a few days. We will head over to their apartment to take the child. Meliron, you can go now

Meliorn: Yes, your majesty

Meliorn leaves the court and heads home, knowing that he broke a promise to Magnus and Alec and realizing that they were right about the queen, and he was hoping that she would get rid of the idea.

A few days later, the Seelie Queen is planning to go after Alec, Magnus, and their daughter so they can use her for her abilities as she gets older. The Seelie Queen and a few other high-ranking seelies, including Meliorn, are heading to Magnus and Alec's apartment to take their daughter.

*In Magnus and Alec's Apartment*

Alec and Magnus had woken up around an hour ago, and they are getting to spend time with Eliza, getting to play with her, and spend the most important time with her. Alec and Magnus are sitting on the floor in their living room with Eliza. Eliza was sitting on Magnus's lap, which made Alec smile, looking at his husband and their little girl.

Magnus: What's wrong

Alec: Nothing, nothing at all. It's just I can't believe how much she is like you

Magnus: What do you mean

Alec: Well, she loves her family, she is up throughout the night, and she has your smile

Magnus: I am not that much of a night owl

Alec: Well, not since we got together, but before we started to date, you were always out during the night

Magnus: Okay, that's true. I hope she finds someone like you when she grows up, someone who is sweet and caring

Alec: I hope she turns out like you

Magnus: I love you, Alexander

Alec: I love you too. I love both of you

While the two of them are spending time with Eliza, the Seelie Queen, Meliorn, and several other Seelies come barging into the apartment, making Magnus and Alec stand up with Eliza still in Magnus's arms.

Amara: Hello, Magnus. Hello Alexander

Magnus: Amara, what are you doing here

Amara: What do you think, I'm here for the child

Alec: And what makes you think we will be giving you our daughter

Amara: Because if you don't, I will take her by force

Magnus: How did you even know that we had a child

Amara: I have my ways

Alec: How we only told people that we trusted, and no offense, but...

Magnus: We don't really trust, but we did tell...

Meliron looks ashamed of himself.

Magnus: Meliorn, why did you do that to us

Meliron: Magnus, Alec, I'm so sorry. I never meant for this to happen

Amara: So, are you gonna hand us the child, or are we gonna take her by force

Alec pulls Magnus and Eliza close to his body.

Alec: No, and if you come anywhere near us, I will not hesitate to send you all to the Clave

Amara: Fine if you want to do it that way, guards restrain Alexander

Two of the guards grab Alec by the arms, pulling him away from both Magnus and Eliza.

Magnus: Amara, please don't do this. I've known you for years, and you knew how much I wanted to have a child of my own

Amara: I don't care, so give me the child

Alec: I guess we don't have a choice

Magnus: I guess so

Magnus kisses Eliza on the head.

Magnus: Daddy and I love you so much, sweetheart. We will never stop loving you

Amara: WOW, that was really sweet. Now give me the child

Magnus goes to hand Eliza to Amara before Meliorn stops him.

Meliorn: Magnus, don't

Amara: Meliorn, what are you doing

Meliorn: What I should've done a long time ago. It was wrong for me to break Magnus and Alec's trust. They made me promise not to tell, and I broke that promise, Your majesty. There are other ways to have a child that is part Shadowhunter and part Downworlder, but this isn't the right way to do it

Magnus: Please, Amara, she's our baby girl, not someone to help you take over the downworld

Amara: Guards, let the shadowhunter go

The two guards let Alec go. Alec comes back over to Magnus and Eliza.

Amara: Maybe I did go too far with this, Magnus, Alec. I am so sorry

Alec: It's okay

Magnus: Amara, next time, plan on having a child of your own instead of coming after someone else's child

Amara: I'll remember that, alrigh,t let's go

The Seelies Queen and the rest of the group start to leave the apartment.

Alec: Hey Meliorn

Meliorn: Yeah

Alec: Thank you

Meliorn: You're welcome, just make sure to raise her the right way

Magnus: We will

Meliorn and the rest of the Seelies head back to the Seelie realm. Alec pulls Magnus and Eliza into his arms.

Alec: I don't think I have ever been that scared in my life

Magnus: Me either, my gosh, I was so scared we would never see our baby girl again

Alec: Yeah, I mean, she is a mini you. If I lost you or her, I would be devastated because you and Eliza are the joy of my life

Magnus: You are so sweet, Alexander

Eliza fell asleep in Magnus's arms.

Alec: I think we need to get someone to bed

Magnus: Yeah, she had a busy morning

Magnus and Alec took Eliza to her Nursery and placed her down for the night. After putting her to bed, Alec and Magnus headed back out into the living room and cuddled on the couch together before falling asleep themselves.

A few weeks after the encounter with the Seelie Queen and her team, Alec and Magnus finally got a day to spend with their daughter without anyone barging into their lives, or so they thought.

*Noon*

Alec and Magnus had gotten up early in the morning at the sound of their daughter crying. After taking care of their daughter, Alec went and made breakfast for the two of them while Magnus got a shower and dressed. Once Magnus had finished in the shower and had gotten dressed, he came out to the kitchen with his husband.

Magnus: Hi, Babe

Alec: Hey, Baby, you good

Magnus: Yeah, I am

Alec: No make-up today

Magnus: No, I am getting used to not wearing make-up when in the house because there is no need to go anywhere

Alec: Good, because you look beautiful without it

Magnus: Thank you, Alexander

Alec: Let's have a seat and eat

Magnus: Sounds great

Alec and Magnus sat down at the table and started to eat with one another while talking. Once they hear the baby wake up over the baby monitor, Alec heads into the nursery, grabs Eliza, brings her into the dining room, and hands her over to Magnus. Once Magnus has her, Alec sits down next to them and places his hand on Magnus's leg.

Alec: You are so beautiful

Magnus: You say that all the time

Alec: I know cause it is true, and I know for a fact that our little girl will turn out like you

Magnus: You are the sweetest man I have ever met

Alec kisses Magnus again.

Magnus: So, do we know if everyone is coming today

Alec: I know Jace and Izzy are coming, so that means Simon and Clary will be here, but Mom and Max, I'm not sure about

Magnus: Well, at least there won't be any surprises

Alec: Yeah, so let's just enjoy the beautiful day we have.

Magnus: Sounds great

Magnus and Alec continued to eat their lunch and also fed their daughter before going on with their morning.

*A Few Hours Later*

A few hours later, Alec and Magnus are spending time with their friends and family while Eliza naps in her crib. While the group was talking, there was a knock at the door.

Izzy: Is someone else coming

Magnus: Not that I know of. Alexander, can you get that

Alec: Yeah, sure

Alec stands up and heads to the door. When Alec opens the door and sees a man standing at the door.

Alec: Hi, can I help you

?????: Yeah, I'm looking for Magnus. Is he here

Alec: Um, yeah, I don't think I caught your name. What was it

?????: Oh, right, my name is Jason, I'm Magnus' Brother

Alec: Um, okay, hold on, Magnus

Magnus is in the living room with Alec's family.

Magnus: What is it, babe

Alec: It's for you

Magnus: Let them in

Alec: Okay

Alec lets Jason into the apartment. When Magnus notices who it is he is in utter shock.

Jason: Hey, Magnus

Magnus: Jason, what are you doing here

Jason: What, I can't stop by and visit my favorite twin sibling

Magnus: I'm your only twin sibling

Izzy: Um, Magnus, you want to introduce us

Magnus: Oh, right, Guys, this is my twin brother Jason, Jason, these are my in-laws, friends, and you have already met my husband, Alexander

Jason: It's nice to meet you guys, but I am just here to meet my niece, whom I have

Magnus: Oh yeah... Wait, how did you know you had a niece? I haven't even told you about her

Jason: How do you think

Magnus: Tessa and Jem

Jason: Bingo

Izzy: Wait, Magnus, you and Alec told everyone about you having a baby, but didn't tell your brother

Alec: I didn't even know Magnus had a brother

Jason: So not only did you not tell me about your daughter, but you didn't tell anyone about me or our siblings

Jace: Siblings, how many siblings do you have

Magnus: None of your damn business, Blondie

Simon: Ouch, that had to hurt, didn't it, Jace

Jace: Shut up, Vampire

Magnus: To answer the question of how many siblings I have, I have 4 siblings, including Jason, and I'm the oldest of them all

Jason: By 2 minutes

Magnus: Still older than you

Alec: Alright, we don't need one of these. We get these on a normal basis with me and Jace, well, Magnus, why don't you take Jason to meet his niece so we can get him out of here

Magnus: Come on, Jason, she should be waking up soon

Magnus takes Jason into Eliza's Nursery. Magnus comes over to the crib, picks up Eliza, and hands her to Jason.

Magnus: Jason, this is my daughter, Eliza Lily Lightwood-Bane. She is only 3 and ½ weeks old

Jason: Magnus, you named her after Mom

Magnus: Yeah, actually, Alexander suggested it

Jason: That's sweet, so have you told any of our siblings about this sweet baby that you and this husband of yours brought into the world

Magnus: No, because I haven't seen any of them for the past few months

Jason: What do you mean? I just saw Kyle last week

Magnus: Yes, but I haven't seen any of them since before I started to show in my pregnancy

Jason: Do you plan on telling any of them

Magnus: Of course I do, I want them in my daughter's life, I will tell the girls, but I don't want Kyle coming anywhere near us until he goes to rehab for his addiction

Jason: Okay, that is fair. Well, why don't you come to the party that Bryan and I are throwing in a few days? Everyone is gonna be there, you can bring Alec and the baby with you

Magnus: I'll talk to Alexander about it and let you know

Jason: Alright, sounds good

Magnus brings Eliza into the living room as he leads Jason out of the nursery and back to the living room. When they all come back out into the living room, they are met by Alec and the rest of the group.

Alec: Hey, everything okay

Magnus: Yeah, everything is fine, the baby just woke up, and she already loves her Uncle Jason

Jason: Well, I love her too, but I really should head on home. Hopefully, I will see you soon

Magnus: I will think about it, Jason, but I will hopefully see you soon. Tell Bryan I said Hi

Jason: Will do, I love you, and I will see you later

Magnus: I love you too

Jason leaves the house and heads home, leaving the rest of the group to finish up what they were doing earlier.

*A Few Hours Later*

A few hours later, Izzy, Simon, Jace, and Clary all left the apartment and headed back home so that Magnus and Alec could get the baby ready for bed and themselves. After feeding the baby and getting her into the bed, Alec, who is already in bed, is watching as Magnus gets ready himself.

Alec: It was really nice to get to meet your brother today, let alone find out that you have siblings

Magnus: Yeah, well, I don't really spend a lot of time with them

Alec: Yeah, it seems like it, so what did Jason mean when he said he wanted to see you again

Magnus: Oh, he and his husband are throwing a party and are inviting all the family, and want us to come

Alec: Is there a reason that you don't want to go

Magnus: I mean, I want to go and see my family, but...

Alec: But what

Magnus gets into bed next to Alec.

Magnus: I really don't want to deal with my Brother, Kyle; he has a major addiction issue

Alec: I mean, I guess that makes sense. Is that the only reason

Magnus: That's the big reason, but I already told Jason that I told him I would talk to you first before we agree or disagree to go because I know it will be a lot to deal with a baby at a party, and that you don't like big parties

Alec: If you want to go, I have no problem going with you, and we will take care of the baby together, and it will be good for her to meet the other side of her family, even if it isn't all of them

Magnus: Alright, I will tell them that we will go as long as I have you with me, it should be okay

Alec: I will be there for you, now. I think that we should get a little bit of sleep before the baby wakes up

Magnus: Yeah, definitely, I love you

Alec: I love you too

Magnus and Alec end up falling asleep with Alec having his arms wrapped around Magnus as they attempt to get a little bit of sleep before Eliza wakes up in the middle of the night.

*Three Days Later*

Magnus stood in front of the full-length mirror in their bedroom, adjusting his shirt for the third time. He’d chosen something stylish but understated: a deep purple button-down with black slacks. No glitter, no dramatic makeup, just enough kohl around his eyes to feel like himself. 

Alec: You look perfect

Alec said from where he sat on the bed, already dressed in a simple black Henley and jeans, holding Eliza against his chest. The baby was wearing a tiny lavender dress that Magnus had picked out specifically for today. 

Magnus: I look nervous

Magnus corrected, turning to face his husband. 

Magnus: I haven’t seen most of my siblings in almost a year, Alexander. They don’t even know I was pregnant until a few weeks ago. 

Alec: Then they’re going to be thrilled to meet her

Alec stood and crossed to Magnus, careful not to jostle the baby. 

Alec: And if anyone gives you a hard time, we leave. Simple as that

Magnus reached out and stroked Eliza’s soft cheek. She made a small cooing sound that melted his heart every single time.

Magnus: What if Kyle shows up

Alec: Then I’ll handle it. You’re not alone in this, Magnus. It’s us. Together. Always

Magnus felt some of the tension ease from his shoulders. 

Magnus: Have I told you recently that you’re the best thing that’s ever happened to me

Alec: Not in the last hour

Alec teased, leaning in to kiss him softly. 

Alec: Come on. Let’s go meet your family

*Jason and Bryan’s Apartment - Brooklyn, NY*

The apartment was already buzzing with activity when they arrived. Magnus could hear music and laughter from the hallway; his stomach twisted with a mixture of excitement and anxiety. Alec shifted Eliza’s diaper bag on his shoulder and took Magnus’s hand. 

Alec: Ready

Magnus: As I’ll ever be

Alec knocked, and within seconds, the door flew open. Jason stood there, his face lighting up immediately. 

Jason: Magnus! Alec! You came!

Jason pulled Magnus into a hug, careful not to crush the baby carrier Magnus was holding. 

Jason: And you brought my beautiful niece! Come in, come in!

They stepped into the apartment, which was decorated with warm lighting and filled with people. Magnus recognized several faces immediately; his sister Rosemary was talking animatedly with someone near the kitchen, and his youngest sister Mary Ann was sitting on the couch scrolling through her phone. 

Jason: Bryan!

Jason called toward the kitchen. 

Jason: They’re here!

A tall man with kind eyes and dark hair emerged, wiping his hands on a dish towel. 

Bryan: Magnus! Finally!

Bryan came over and gave Magnus a warm hug

Bryan: It’s been too long. And you must be Alec.

He extended his hand, which Alec shook firmly. 

Alec: Nice to meet you

Bryan: And this must be little Eliza

Bryan peered into the carrier, his expression softening.

Bryan: Oh my god, she’s beautiful. She has your eyes, Magnus

Magnus: Actually, she has Alexander’s eyes

Magnus corrected with a smile. 

Magnus: But thank you

Jason: Rosemary!

Jason called across the room.

Jason: Come, meet your niece

The woman turned, and her eyes widened when she saw Magnus. She immediately set down her drink and hurried over. Rosemary was stunning, with soft brown skin and long braids pulled back in an elegant style. Her eyes—the same cat-like gold as Magnus’s—filled with tears. 

Rosemary: Magnus Bane, you had a baby and didn’t tell me?

She said, her voice thick with emotion even as she smiled. 

Magnus: I’m sorry, Rose. It’s been… complicated.

Rosemary: We'll talk about that later

She said, waving it off. 

Rosemary: Right now, I need to meet my niece. 

She looked at Alec. 

Rosemary: May I

Magnus: Of course

Magnus said, carefully lifting Eliza from the carrier. 

Magnus: Rose, this is Eliza Lily Lightwood-Bane. Eliza, this is your Aunt Rosemary

Rosemary took the baby with practiced ease, cradling her gently. 

Rosemary: Hello, sweet girl. Oh, Magnus, she’s perfect. Absolutely perfect. 

???: MAGNUS!

The shriek came from across the room. Mary Ann launched herself off the couch and ran over, her purple-streaked hair bouncing. At just shy of four hundred, she was the youngest of Magnus’s siblings, and her excitement was infectious. 

Mary Ann: Oh my god, oh my god, you have a baby!

Mary Ann bounced on her toes. 

Mary Ann: Can I hold her? Please? I promise I’ll be careful!

Magnus: After Rose. There’s plenty of baby to go around

Mary Ann: This is so cool

Mary Ann gushed. She turned to Alec, assessing him with the brutal honesty of youth. 

Mary Ann: So you’re the husband. You’re hot. Good job, Magnus

Magnus: Mary Ann!

Magnus groaned while Alec’s ears turned red. 

Mary Ann: What? I’m just being honest!

She grinned unrepentantly. Jason appeared with drinks. 

Jason: Okay, everyone, give them some space to breathe. Magnus, Alec, what can I get you

Magnus: Just water for me. I’m still breastfeeding

Alec: Same here. I’m on baby duty. 

Bryan: Responsible parents. I like it

Bryan nodded approvingly. 

Bryan: Come on, let’s get you settled. There’s food in the kitchen, and we’ve got a quiet room in case the baby needs a break from all the noise. 

As they moved through the apartment, Magnus felt Alec’s hand find his again. His husband gave him a reassuring squeeze, and Magnus squeezed back. So far, so good. 

*An Hour Later*

The party was in full swing. Eliza had been passed around to various family members, each one cooing over her with delight. Magnus had introduced Alec to everyone: Jason and Bryan’s co-workers, Jason’s friends, and Bryan’s family. Alec had handled it all with his usual quiet grace, though Magnus could tell he was slightly overwhelmed by the sheer number of people. Magnus was in the kitchen helping Bryan set out more food when Rosemary appeared at his elbow. 

Rosemary: We need to talk

She said, quietly. Magnus sighed. He’d known this was coming. 

Magnus: Okay

They slipped into the hallway outside the apartment, leaving the noise behind. Rosemary crossed her arms, he expression serious. 

Rosemary: Why didn’t you tell me you were pregnant? I’m not just your sister, Magnus. I’m a nurse, and I could have helped you

Magnus: I know. I’m sorry, Rose. I just… I was scared. 

Rosemary: Scared of what

Magnus: Of everything. Of being judged. Of not being a good parent. Of…

He trailed off, looking away. 

Magnus: Of Kyle finding out

Rosemary’s expression shifted to understanding. 

Rosemary: He’s been asking about you, you know. Keeps saying he wants to reconnect. 

Magnus: He needs to get clean first. I can’t have that around my daughter. I won’t 

Rosemary: I know. And I agree. 

Rosemary reached out and took his hand. 

Rosemary: But Magnus, you can’t shut us all out because of Kyle. Mary Ann adores you. Jason’s been worried sick. And me? I missed you. I missed my big brother. 

Magnus felt tears prick his eyes. 

Magnus: I missed you, too. 

Rosemary: Then let us in. Let us be part of Eliza’s life. She deserves to know her family, and we deserve to know her. 

Magnus: You’re right. I’m sorry. I got so caught up in my own fear and my new life with Alexander and the baby that I forgot… I forgot I still had all of you. 

Rosemary pulled him into a tight hug

Rosemary: We’re not going anywhere, Magnus. We’re family. That means something

They stood there for a moment, holding each other. Then Rosemary pulled back and wiped her eyes, laughing a little. 

Rosemary: Okay, enough of the emotional stuff. Let’s go back inside before your very protective husband comes looking for you

Magnus laughed. 

Magnus: He would too. 

They headed back into the apartment. The moment Magnus entered, Alec looked up from where he was sitting with Eliza, his expression relaxing when he saw that Magnus was okay. 

Alec: Everything good

Alec mouthed. Magnus nodded and smiled. 

Magnus: Perfect. 

*Two Hours Later*

Eliza was getting fussy, and Magnus could tell she was reaching her limit. He and Alec had retreated to the quiet room Bryan had set up, feeding and changing her while the party continued outside. 

Alec: Your family is nice

Alec said as he burped Eliza against his shoulder. 

Alec: Jason and Bryan are great, Rosemary’s incredibly warm, and Mary Ann is.. Enthusiastic

Magnus chuckled.

Magnus: That’s one word for it. She’s always been a ball of energy. 

Alec: She reminds me of Izzy

Magnus: By the Angels help us all if those two ever team up. 

There was a soft knock on the door. 

Jason: Magnus? Can I come in

Magnus: Yeah, come in. 

Jason entered, looking slightly uncomfortable. 

Jason: Hey, so… Kyle just showed up

Magnus’s entire body tensed. 

Magnus: What?

Jason: I told him you were here and that you didn’t want to see him, but he’s insisting. He says he’d been clean for two months, and he just wants to talk

Jason held up his hands. 

Jason: I can kick him out. Just say the word

Magnus looked at Alec, who was watching him carefully. 

Alec: What do you want to do

Magnus thought about it. Part of him wanted to leave immediately, to protect Eliza from any possibility of Kyle’s chaos. But another part—the part that remembered Kyle before the addiction, the brother who used to make him laugh—wanted to believe he could change. 

Magnus: I’ll talk to him. But briefly. And Alexander stays with me. 

Alec: Of course

Alec said immediately, still holding Eliza. Jason nodded. 

Jason: I’ll bring him to the balcony. More private out there. 

*On the Balcony*

Kyle was leaning against the railing when they stepped outside. He looked different than the last time Magnus had seen him—cleaner, healthier, though there was still a hollowness around his eyes that spoke of hard times

Kyle: Magnus,

Kyle said, turning around. His voice was rough with emotion. 

Kyle: Thank you for talking to me

Magnus: You have five minutes

Magnus said, keeping his distance. Alec stood slightly behind him, a protective presence. 

Kyle: I know I fucked up. I know I said things, did things that hurt you. Hurt everyone. But I’m trying, Magnus. I’ve been going to meetings, I got a sponsor, and I’m two months clean

Magnus: That’s good, Kyle. I’m proud of you for that

Kyle: But?

Kyle asked, hearing the unspoken word. 

Magnus: But two months isn’t very long. And I have a daughter now. I can’t take risks with her safety, with her well-being. I need to know you’re serious about this, that it’s not just another false start. 

Kyle’s jaw tightened, but he nodded. 

Kyle: I get it. I do. But Magnus, she’s my niece. I want to be in her life. I want to be the uncle she deserves

Magnus: Then prove it. Get six months clean. A year. Show me that you’re committed to your recovery. And then… then we can talk about you being part of Eliza’s life.

Kyle: Six months?

Kyle’s voice cracked. 

Kyle: Magnus, that’s—

Alec: Non-negotiable

Alec interjected quietly but firmly. 

Alec: Magnus is being more than fair. If you really care about being in your niece’s life, you’ll do the work.

Kyle looked at Alec, really looked at him for the first time. Then he turned back to Magnus. 

Kyle: Okay. Okay, I’ll do it. Six months. I’ll prove it to you.

Magnus: Good. Kyle, I want you in our lives. I really do. But I need you to be healthy first. For you, and for us. 

Kyle nodded, wiping his eyes quickly. 

Kyle: Can I… can I at least see a picture of her

Magnus hesitated, then pulled out his phone. He showed Kyle a photo of Eliza from earlier that day, wearing her little lavender dress. 

Kyle: She’s beautiful. She looks like you 

Magnus: She looks like both of us.

Magnus corrected, glancing at Alec with a small smile.

Kyle: What’s her name

Magnus: Eliza Lily Lightwood-Bane

Kyle: Lily? Like Mom’s name

Magnus: Yeah

Kyle smiled, genuine and sad at the same time. 

Kyle: Mom would have loved her

Magnus: Yeah. She would have

They stood there for a moment, the weight of loss and hope hanging between them. Then Kyle straightened up. 

Kyle: Okay. Six months. I’ll do it, Magnus. I promise. 

Magnus: I’ll be checking in with Jason. Don’t make me regret giving you this chance. 

Kyle: I won’t. I swear. 

Kyle moved toward the door, then paused. 

Kyle: And Magnus? Thank you for not giving up on me completely.

After Kyle left, Magnus let out a long breath. Alec immediately wrapped an arm around him, pulling him close. 

Alec: You okay?

Magnus: Yeah. 

Magnus said, leaning into his husband’s warmth. 

Magnus: Yeah, I think I am. That was… hard. But necessary. 

Alec: You handled it perfectly. Firm boundaries, but with compassion. That’s all you can do

Magnus turned and kissed him softly. 

Magnus: What would I do without you

Alec: Lucky for you, you’ll never have to find out

They stood on the balcony for a few more minutes, holding each other and watching the city lights. Inside, they could hear the party continuing, hear laughter and music, and the sound of family. 

Alec: Ready to go back in

Magnus nodded. 

Magnus: Yeah. Let’s go spend time with the family I can count on

*Later that Night - Home*

Eliza was finally asleep in her crib, exhausted from all the attention and stimulation. Magnus and Alec had collapsed onto their bed, still fully clothed, too tired to even think about changing. 

Magnus: Today was a lot

Magnus said, staring at the ceiling

Alec: It was. But good, I think

Magnus: Yeah. Good. 

Magnus turned on his side to face Alec. 

Magnus: Thank you for coming with me. For supporting me through all of that. 

Alec: Always.

Alec promised. He reached out and brushed a strand of fair from Magnus’s face.

Alec: Your family loves you. Eliza’s lucky to have them in her life. 

Magnus: And you. She’s lucky to have you as her father

Alec: We’re all lucky to have each other.

They lay there in comfortable silence for a while, listening to the soft sound of Eliza’s breathing through the baby monitor. 

Magnus: Do you think Kyle will make it? Six Months?

Alec: I don’t know. But I think you did the right thing by giving him the chance. And if he doesn’t make it, at least you’ll know you tried. 

Magnus: When did you become so wise

Alec: The day I married you. 

Alec said with a small smile. 

Alec: You bring out the best in me

Magnus: I love you, Alexander Lightwood-Bane

Alec: I love you too, Magnus Lightwood-Bane

Magnus scooted closer, wrapping himself around Alec. Within minutes, they were both asleep, tangled together in the darkness, their daughter safe in the next room, and their future—whatever it held—waiting for them to discover together.
