Honey, Honey!

Summary:

Two women in search of their fathers meet each other in strange circumstances on one of the Greek islands, join together into an unlikely alliance and plan a scheme thanks to which they both may end up closer to their targets.

Notes:

Over a year ago, I decided it would be funny to write a Mizu x Sophie crack, because a) essentially, they were both searching for their white biological fathers out of several candidates, and b) why not? I doubt I'll finish this work, but since I'm currently looking through my old, unfinished stuff, I present to you a raw, unfiltered draft of what human imagination can be capable of sometimes.

A loud gasp escaped Donna’s lips, hiding behind both the hands of hers.
“Sophie!”

The young woman was already sprinting towards where the distress calls were coming from.

“Sophie! Why is there a person dressed as a samurai, in the closet, in an attic, of our goat house? What are they doing here? Explain it to me, dear.”

The person in question was sitting at the “scene of the crime”, just as perplexed as the housekeeper in front of her.

“Mom,” Sophie bit her lip in nerve-wracking silence before proceeding with the answer. “That is Mizu… And she is my wife-to-be.”

The sun-kissed azure waves of the Aegean Sea were crashing against the rock-ribbed beaches of the isle of Skopelos. A young blonde was taking a carefree stroll along the paved street along the coastline, carrying a woven basket full of fresh fruit and seafood and a gleeful smile, quietly singing an upbeat melody.

“It was like shooting a sitting duck
A little small talk, a smile, and baby, I was stuck
I still don't know what you've done with me
A grown-up woman should never fall so easily…”

She stopped and took a moment to look at a mysterious figure sitting near the water and gazing into the distance.

“Shit. Must be the wrong white people’s island,” they cursed in Japanese.

“Umm… Geia?”

The person swiftly turned around, unsheathing their blade, and soon stood facing the woman, glaring at her with a menacing stare.

She squeaked and froze in place in horror.
“Huh,” they hid the sword, taking off their tinted spectacles.

As they fully revealed the face, Sophie still stood, legs seemingly stuck to the ground, but fear was already not the main reason why.

“Umm… Excuse me, miss. Have you perhaps heard of Abijah Fowler or his whereabouts? “ they ask her, having already switched to English.

They were met with an absent-minded headshake and what looked like a rather infatuated expression, to which they responded with a slightly raised eyebrow.

The warm wind ruffled the person’s raven hair. Their eyes shut and opened gently once, and they finally let out a somewhat worn sigh bordering on groaning.

“What’s your name, at least?”

“Sophie.”

“Sophie? Mizu.”

* * *

Mizu was sitting at a table in a cosy blue pastel-coloured kitchen while Sophie was pacing back and forth between several spots, preoccupied with cooking.

“So, are you sure it won’t be any trouble if I stay here for a while?”

“Oh… Yeah, sure, why would it be,” she giggled in response.

A moment of silence filled the space around them.

“So… why are you looking for that Abijah guy anyway.”

“He… might be my father. And he knows where my other two possible fathers might be. In London.”

“Hmm… I see… You’re pretty far away from your destination, you know that, right?”

“I’ve… already figured that out.”

“I never knew my dad either. However…”

“Hmm?”

Sophie’s lips formed a mischievous grin.

“I found my mom’s diary and…”

Mizu frowned a little.

“Turns out there might be three possible dads as well!”

“No fucking way.”

“I have their names, and I can finally find them,” she dashed towards Mizu, grabbing her hands, pulling her out of her chair, and making her dance in excitement alongside her, with pure joy on her face.

The scowl on her face gradually relaxed, and she felt heat flowing to her cheeks the very next moment.

Mizu slowly let her go, clearing the throat.

“You seem very happy about that. I’m glad it is so,” she averted her eyes from Sophie.

The other couldn’t help but notice her attitude shift into a softer one. With a playful smirk, she called to her once more.

“Hey, Mizu…”

“Hmm?”

“I think I have just come up with a perfect plan for both of us. It may sound crazy, but please hear me out.”

“Umm… I’m all ears.”

“I thought about sending letters to my dads as if they are sent from my mom, but I need a significant excuse for that, such as… a wedding.”

“Huh?”

“Wait, wait, wait. I’ll explain myself. I can invite them to my wedding, and afterwards, they could help you with getting to London.”

“And how so?”

“One of them is Bill Anderson, who is a writer and an adventurer. I guess it would make sense for him to be keen on travelling.”

“I see… and the nearlywed in question would be…”

Sophie looks at her playfully.

“Oh, gods… Wait, is that possible?”

She nods.

“Huh… But still, I do not marry. I am nobody’s wife. Plain and simple rule for me.”

“That’s not permanent, it’s just for the sake of finding both of our dads!

“As long as you promise it’s not a binding thing, for the sake of fulfilling my task, I don’t mind playing along.”
