Summary
Jimmy could convince himself that things weren’t so bad if he squinted. He had a place to live, a friend or two, and a lifestyle choice that didn’t leave him lucid long enough to think twice about it. The change was so unsightly he simply turned his head, not bothering to alter what had already transpired. Recovery wouldn’t heal the ache in the pit of his chest- it wouldn’t make the sleepless nights more bearable, and it certainly wouldn’t bring his mother back. Yet, realistically, if it had the power to do so, Jimmy still wasn’t sure he would pass up the opportunity to lay waste to himself all the same.
