Chapter Text

WAYNE ENTERPRISES – Bruce office

Bruce tried, tried to focus on the quarterly report in front of him.

He really did.

But it was hard when his brain had turned into a playlist stuck on:
Selina should be resting.
Selina should not stress.
Selina should not lift anything.
Selina should not leave the Manor unless supervised by AT LEAST four combat-ready adults

“Bruce?” Clark asked gently. “You hearing any of this?”

Bruce blinked. “...Yes.”
He was absolutely not hearing any of it.

Clark sighed. “Anyway, that’s what Lois said. And while she’s here in Gotham—”

Bruce’s head snapped up. “Lois is in Gotham?”

“Yeah,” Clark said casually. “She went to meet with Dinah and Iris and—oh! Selina joined them.”

Bruce froze. Completely.

Like a bat caught in a spotlight.
Slowly, very slowly, he repeated: “...Selina.”

“Yep,” Clark said, nodding. “Meeting up with the girls. Pregnant squad thing.”

Bruce stared at him.
Clark blinked innocently.
Bruce continued staring.

A vein appeared in Bruce’s forehead. Clark finally frowned. “Bruce… are you okay?”

Bruce leaned forward slowly, voice low and dangerous: “You let Selina walk around Gotham… while pregnant… completely unaccompanied?”

Clark raised both hands. “Okay, first of all, she wasn’t alone, she was with three other super-powered, incredibly competent—”

“LOIS IS PREGNANT TOO!” Bruce hissed. “And you just let her walk around the most dangerous city in the world like it’s a nature hike?!”

Clark paused. “…I mean… yes?”

Bruce’s chair scraped violently as he stood up. “Selina is fourteen weeks pregnant.”

“I know—”

“With my child....”

“I’m aware...”

“With my daughter, Clark, my unborn daughter.”

Clark’s eyes widened. “Oooooh. You JUST found out it’s a girl ?”

Bruce ignored him completely and grabbed his phone.

“Bruce ? Bruce, buddy....” But Bruce was already dialing Wayne Manor at the speed of a man who had lost all sanity.

The phone was answered instantly.

“Father?” Damian’s voice said. “We are monitoring her location—”

“DAMIAN, HOW COULD YOU LET HER LEAVE THE MANOR ALONE?!”

The entire boardroom heard him.

Clark winced. So did the executives.

“She wasn’t alone,” Tim called in the background. “She was with Lois, Iris, and Dinah...”

“They’re ALSO PREGNANT!” Bruce yelled. “THAT DOES NOT MAKE THEM BODYGUARDS!”

Jason shouted from somewhere: “I TOLD YOU SHE SHOULDN’T GO!”

Bruce strangled the bridge of his nose. “Is she safe? Where is she?”

Clark answered for the panicking father.

“They’re literally two streets over, Bruce. A bakery café. Bright, public, crowded, no criminal activity nearby.”

Bruce whirled on him. “And you LET HER go THERE?!”

Clark stared at him. “…Yes? Because she’s Selina Kyle? One of the most dangerous women alive? And she wanted tea?”

“Tea.” Bruce repeated like it was the most lethal word known to man.

Clark sighed. “Bruce, buddy listen. Lois is pregnant too. And if I tried to lock her inside a building for nine months? She’d kill me. Twice.”

“You’re a Kryptonian,” Bruce snapped. “You can take it.”

“Exactly,” Clark said. “You’re not. Selina would obliterate you if you tried.”

Bruce ignored this, his heart thundering as he paced the office, startling several employees.

“I’m going to get her,” he decided.

“Bruce,” Clark said, placing a hand on his shoulder, “she is literally eating a pastry right now.”

“She needs supervision.”

“Dinah is a meta with sonic screams that can level buildings—”

“Selina needs proper supervision.”

“Lois has fought aliens and...”

“Selina needs my supervision.”

“Bruce....”

Bruce snapped, “CLARK, SHE IS CARRYING MY CHILD!”

Clark sighed deeply. “Okay, you’re in full Dad Mode. I get it.” He gently pushed Bruce toward the elevator. “Fine. We’ll go get them.”

Bruce frowned. “We?”

“Lois,” Clark said flatly, “is also my very pregnant wife walking around Gotham. If you think you’re stressed, imagine being Superman.”

Bruce paused.
“…Fair point.”

Clark nodded, patting his back sympathetically. “Come on. Before your children form a tactical rescue squad.”

Meanwhile somewhere in the Manor Jason and Damian had enought of waiting, they know they promised not to Selina to not follow her but their worry kept increasing each second.

Jason: “Gear up! We’re going to retrieve Mom!”

Tim: “STOP calling her ‘mom’...”

Damian: “NO. HE IS CORRECT.”
