Then, she looked at Max, at her lover, at her fiancé. This would be the last time she’d look at him with her human eyes, with her humanity still intact. She didn’t know what killing would truly do to her.
It impacted Michael and Sam quite drastically. Their personalities were mostly still intact, but they didn’t really care about people anymore. They saw the people of Santa Carla as food—girls, boys, men, women, the elderly, drunks and druggies, hippies and goths, children and even babies—all food.
Max, with his charming personality and perfect teeth, his love of New Age music and romcoms…he’d still love her…no matter who she became. He was smiling at her. He was proud of her, she could tell. He nodded his head at her as if to say, “Go on, Lucy.”
