Tim goes very still.
He pictures it in his mind: the empty rooftop, the silent phone, the absence where Peter’s laughter used to echo. He imagines standing in the Cave, wrapping words around that void.
He imagines saying, He was my boyfriend. He was mine.
The thought hurts. But underneath the pain, there’s something else. A steel line of certainty.
