Chapter Text
"What?"
The Commander turned to Lena, his face tense with concern, waiting for her response.
"Someone from my world just took over one of the Sakura Empire's islands!!!!"
It was absurd; he would not be surprised if it were the Sirens. It was not Sirens but heavily armed humans from the otherworld.
"Oh god," He spoke to himself as the weight of the situation dawned on him. "This is bad"
"This is very bad!!!" Hood walked up to Lena and held her shoulders. "This is a bad incident!!!"
Taking one faction's land was nothing short of a declaration of war, and the Feds had done so with the takeover of the island from the Sakura Empire.
"I know," Lena looked down at her feet. "The Feds just informed me, and I came to report as fast as I could"
"How many?" Hood asked her.
"About 1,000," Lena looked up at the lady. "All armed to the teeth"
Hood closed her eyes as she took in the information. "Sit down and tell me in detail about what they bring with them"
The lady took the girl and seated her right across from the Commander.
"They brought with them top-of-the-line walking tanks and heavy artillery, along with a good amount of AA guns," Lena began. "And working nuclear bomb"
Both Hood and the Commander looked at Lena when she said a working nuclear bomb.
"Lena," he asked her, thinking he had heard wrong. "Did you say a working nuclear bomb?"
"Yes," Lena nodded her head as Hood tried her best to comfort the girl. "These guys stole one before escaping"
The gravity of the situation only got worse.
The Commander rubbed his forehead in frustration. "Lena, please inform Yorktown to meet me ASAP."
"Hood," He then looked at Hood. "Call a meeting of all faction leaders, now"
He was calm, suppressing the shock on his face with professional composure.
15 minutes later...
"The real issue was not how to subdue them." The Commander walked back and forth. "The real issue is how to deal with them without getting nuked ourselves"
Dealing with them was not a problem; the real issue was the nuke itself.
"Permission to scout the island?" Kurena spoke to the man. "Maybe I can see their defence for myself"
"Get Dace and recon that place," The Commander nodded his head. "Then come back and report"
Kurena nodded and left the room.
"What's the Sakura Empire's response?" The Commander looked at Shoukaku and Zuikaku.
"So far, Lady Amagi kept quiet," Shoukaku looked at Lena. "She said she wanted to talk to you"
The carrier then summoned a blue paper plane in her hands, much to the amazement of the rest of the Spearhead and Annette, as it flew right in front of Lena's face.
"Lena," Amagi's voice came from it. "I suppose that these guys were renegades"
"They were," Lena replied, imagining the furious looks on the foxwoman's face. "They were from the imperial side of the Federacy's civil war, and they had a bomb that could erase the island off the map with them, along with heavy weapons"
"I take it the Federacy told you to tell us to do whatever we want with them," Amagi said. "Correct?"
"Correct"
Shoukaku and Zuikaku looked on as Amagi casually talked with the girl.
"She is way too calm about something like this," Zuikaku remarked. "What is she thinking?"
"Think about it," Shoukaku explained. "Using the kansens to oust some outsiders who took our silands right under our noses? That is a disgrace!!!!"
"What do you need to flush them out in the fastest way possible?"
Amagi's request shook all people in the room, both humans and kansens alike, except the Spearhead.
"Business as usual, huh?" Theo spoke with annoyance. "Yep, special operations"
"Yep," Raiden followed. "Same shit as always"
"There goes my day off," Anju sighed. "Guess they are eager to ruin my day off"
Shin looked neutral as he looked at Lena with worry in his eyes.
"May I ask one thing first?" Lena asked Amagi. "Do you prefer bloody or not so bloody?"
The whole room looked at Lena as she said so.
"If it has to be bloody, then I have no choice," Amagi gave Lena her answer. "But if possible, I would rather keep this under wraps like you."
"If that's the case, the Commander had a rather nice idea of a special operation," Lena spoke as the room listened carefully. "It will involve insertion of a unit behind their lines made up of maid corps, and non-Sakura Empire kansens"
"Let's hear it," Amagi said. "I am all ears"
"So here's the plan..." Lena began.
5 minutes later...
"So you wanted to go in there yourself and secure the nuke," Amagi said. "Then let's go nuts?"
"As well as sabotage the heavy weapons," Lena added as Amagi took in the plan. "Without their heavy weapons, the resistance will be many times weaker."
"How do you think they would easily fall for your tricks?" Amagi questioned. "For all we know, they could see through it"
"Like us, these guys are rather war weary," Lena explained. "Most of them would be very tired and would look to freshen themselves up. Alcohol and a party would be something they would not refuse"
"Child soldiers, after all," Amagi spoke with a rather playful voice. "Is that what you wanted to say?"
"Yes, sir," Lena replied, ignoring the looks the kansens gave her. "We are children after all"
"Then I will work on getting the requests for your entries," Amagi said. "I will get you what you need, out"
Amagi cut off communication as the paper plane returned to Shoukaku.
"So here we go again," Theo spoke as he loaded the rounds into the magazine of his assault rifle. "Cleaning up shit by the Feds again"
"Sounds like it," Anju replied as she was doing the same with her rifle. "The Feds almost started a war with the Sakura Empire"
"Do you think they will give us a bonus for this?" Raiden spoke as he looked at his gun. "This is rather serious"
"Only one way to find out," Shin said as he looked into the barrel of his pistol.
The Spearhead took out the ammo they brought with them and began to refill the mags of their sidearms at the mansion as Lena and Annette were busy with their own preparations.
"How powerful is this beer again?" Annette asked as she looked at several big wooden barrels inside the Iron Blood warehouse.
"Enough to put even the strongest man to sleep," Bismarck spoke proudly. "No one won't be standing after a few glasses of these"
Lena went around, looking for alcohol to get the renegades drunk. Hood was doing her preparations as she, along with Belfast were putting together a force on such short notice.
"Then, do you mind if I take all of them?" The technician pointed at the barrels. "I will pay you later for them"
At the Royal dorm...
"How much sleeping powder do we have?" Belfast asked Glasgow. "We would need a lot"
"Not enough to put 1,000 people to sleep," The maid replied to the headmaid's request. "At best, we can only put half of them to sleep"
The headmaid looked on as the maids poured out all the sleeping powder they had into a huge pile on a table in the kitchen. They would not normally need them, but due to the incursion by the Feds' renegades, they had to rethink the whole plan. This would be the first time they would carry out a large-scale spy operation against humans.
"I got you all the Oxy-cola my faction got here for you, Hood," Yorktown told Hood. "But hell, it still isn't enough for 1,000"
The battlecruiser looked on as the Eagle Union kansens brought wooden crates filled with Oxy-cola bottles to the front yard of the dorm.
"I mean," Hood spoke with a hand behind her head. "Who would have thought that someone from her world would do something like this?"
"I told Enty and Hornet to make a temporary camp to hold them," Yorktown looked on as the maids carried the crates into a pile. "To be honest, we could only hold them for a few days"
Lena had to go around asking for help as the Feds were one step away from making war with the Sakura Empire. The Eagle Union and the Royal Navy, who had been with her longer than any factions jumped to help their human friend. In part, after they heard about the nuke right at their doorsteps.
"So you, me, Wales, Repulse, and Renown will join this operation to secure that nuke," Hood gazed at Yorktown. "You know what this mean right?"
"Keep the Sakura Empire from getting the bomb," She replied. "This one came from the top"
The moment the higher-ups of both the Eagle Union and the Royal Navy heard about a working nuke in the middle of the Pacific, they flew into wholesale panic. They gave the Commander the plan a greenlight and gave him what he wanted for the operation. On paper, it would be a joint operation between the Eagle Union, the Royal Navy and the Sakura Empire.
"We can talk more about that later", Hood noticed Lena coming to the Royal dorm. "Look, there she is"
"I heard you called for me," Lena told Hood. "Is something the matter?"
"Vice-Admiral Holland want to talk to you" Hood's voice was grim and shook with seriousness. "Follow me"
Hood led Lena inside as the maids began to form into lines. Roll calls sounded as they answered. Lena waved at them as she passed by.
"It is about that nuclear bomb," Lena knew that woman's tone. "Isn't it?"
The battlecruiser did not say a word, but nodded her head. Wales was sharpening her sword with a stone; its sparks flew up in the air as Hood and Lena walked into a room with a phone on a table. The battleship stood up and closed the door. Her guard was high as ever.
The phone rang, and Hood picked it up.
"Sir, she is here as Commanded" Hood spoke through it. Then she gave the phone to Lena.
"Yes, sir."
"Lena, you are in hot water right now!!!" Holland told her. "The Russians and the Chinese were beginning to assemble a force to deal with them!!!"
"Sir, if they do that, the Sakura Empire would not stand for it", Lena reasoned. "These guys are full-time soldiers with experience in the Legion War with weapons to kill. The shore will be painted blood if they do that"
"They don't care as long as they get the bomb"
Hood and Wales stood side by side as Holland spoke to Lena.
"That is why I will go myself", Lena looked at the two. "I will go secure the bomb myself"
"Are you insane?!!!!" Holland shouted so loud that the two kansens' eyes turned wide.
"Sir," Lena replied with a normal face. "They are from my world, and they are my responsibilities if they do something bad here"
"The Sakura Empire secretly asked us for help, and they asked you along with the maids corps and a few kansens from the Eagle Union and the Royal Navy," The man sighed through the phone. "You really are something"
"Better than having a bloodbath and a nuke going off in the Pacific"
"If that's the case," Holland spoke. "You are hereby appointed the Vice-Commander of the Operation beside the Commander of the Azur Lane"
Hood walked over to the girl and handed her a revolver.
"I hereby give you the rank of acting-Captain of HMS Hood," He told her. "Do us proud and secure that nuke"
"I will, sir." Lena put down the phone as she accepted the revolver from the lady.
"You expected a bloodbath," Wales asked as the girl looked at the chambers. "That bad?"
"My experience told me to expect a bloodbath," Lena closed the chambers as Hood also gave her a holster at her waist. "Each battle I had been in always resulted in a bloodbath"
The weapons of war from her world, the ones used in so many bloody battles against humans and Legion alike, were here. Soldiers from the old war and the ones who refused to end the war they fought in.Soldiers who would not hesitate to pull a trigger on the kansens. The soldiers who would treat the kansens like living weapons and showed no mercy.
"That is why we are to go with you," Hood spoke.
"They turned the island into a fortress", Kurena told the Commander and the Kansens in his office. "They set up gun positions and barbed wire all over the place. I bet they already have minefield set up."
Kurena threw several photos on his table. The beach became a hell scape of razor-sharp wires and obstacles. Anti-tank ditches and hedgehogs filled the sand as far as the eye could see.
"They also built bunkers of wood and trenches," Kurena pointed at the hills overlooking the beach filled with trenches of the Great War, and wooden bunkers dotted the line. "Behind them, over 12 heavy 155 mm howitzers in dug-out positions somewhere deep inside the island. I also see positions for the Vánagandrs behind the trenches, too"
"How long had they been here?" The man looked at all the fortifications in the photos. "It would take more than a week to do all this"
"Sir, the Federacy armed forces can turn an island into a fortress in two days," Kurena told him. The Federacr's military course was still fixed on her head. "Give them a week, and they would turn the whole island into a killing field"
"We are also at fault for keeping this secret as well," Mikasa, the old battleship, said with a sigh in her voice. "We did not want to turn this into a huge deal until we learned what they had"
"My ship's renovation is complete," Lexington added. "We can go now"
"Kurena," Belfast came from behind. "Time to get dressed"
"Wait!!! What?!!!"
The headmaid smiled and took her away despite the protest. The headmaid brought her to a room where Annette, Lena and Anju were in maid uniforms like the Royal Maids for some reason. Hood and Wales were helping them with the makeup with brushes and eye markers. Kurena sat in place as the Royal maids took off her outfit and placed a maid's outfit on top of her, adding perfume to her face.
"Why maids?" Kurena asked as Sirius put a maid's cap on her head.
"We will be posing as Lexington Idol and Entertainment group," The kansen replied. "Lady Saratoga and Lexington will do the most of the talking"
"If they heard even one of us," Lena spoke as Hood painted makeup on her cheek. "They would know that the Feds sent us to deal with them"
"They might be stupid, but they know us well enough from the news," Annette added as Wales combed her hair. "The moment they see us, the whole plan will be blown"
"So we had to wear disguises," Anju said as Newcastle put a white apron on her. "Who would have thought that we would be maids?"
Hood was rather energetic as she put them in maid costumes. Smile and glee filled her face. Hood directed most of her dressing up on Lena for some reason. Wales directed hers at Annette. Newcastle did the same to Anju, and Glasgow was on Kurena.
"All right," Hood said as she looked at her work. "Get up, girls"
The four girls stood up, their outfits masking their real identities.
"Look good enough," Wales joined Hood. "Let's get going"
The four followed the maids as they got outside and onto a truck.
"We must not utter a single word," Lena spoke as the truck moved away from the Commander's HQ. "Miss Lexington and Saratoga will do most of the talking"
"How many could we get to help?" Anju asked.
"50 on such short notice as this," Lena replied. "They sure picked one hell of a time to do this"
It was at the end of a campaign season, and most kansens went home or rested in their home countries. Thus, there were barely over 100 kansens at the base. Not to mention retaking the Siren islands, once ruined by the Legion gunboat last year.
There were also no patrols at the portal due to some thinking that it would not be needed, as no one from the continent would try to come through. An idea that became a nightmare very quickly-an invasion force with a nuke.
It was also an attempt to maintain secrecy over the matters as well.
"The Hail Mary or what's left of it, had over 1,000 soldiers," Annette said. "Not to mention the Vánagandrs, there are 24 of them and hell, these would be our biggest issues"
Unlike the Legion, these tanks would be manned. The manned ones were what they really worried about.
"Those 120 and 155 mm might not kill them, but they would hurt like hell", Lena added, the carnage that Hood told her at Denmark still vivid. "The main issue is the nuke; they might not be humans, but radiation is going to affect them"
Vestal was busying getting the radiation treatment medicine in the worst case, but they hoped it would not come to pass.
"Are you sure about this?" Hood asked. "You think you can handle it?"
"I had my orders," Lena said as the truck stopped. They all got off as the docks came alive. The manjuus carried crates and barrels of alcohol on the ships of the two Lexington sisters. The deck were empty of planes but concert gear and instruments. They removed the guns and any sort of arms to give the ploy a go.
"Are you all ready?" The Commander looked at Lena, Annette and the Spearhead.
"Yes, sir," Shin spoke. "We are ready"
Shin, Theo and Raiden's disguises were easier and straightforward with thick grey suits and mechanic uniforms.
"Good, get on the ship," He said as the Kansens and humans alike got on Lexington's ship.
The other warships formed around the two as they set sail from the base. The night gave them cover as they left the harbour.
A day later...
"Saratoga told me that they fell for it," Lexington said as she looked at the Commander. "It seemed the soldiers were too eager for entertainment and wanted alcohol"
The Commander cracked a wide smile as Lena signalled the rest to get ready. The Maid Corps got up and began to line up. She, along with the rest, began to walk over the boarding plank to Lexington's ship, as well as doing a last check.
"Lady Lena,"
Lena looked over as Mikasa stopped her before her feet moved.
"I understand that this is sudden and the great danger you put yourself in," The old battleship sighed, sorrow on her face. "Kongou, her sisters, and some Sakura Empire ships in the area are coming here. Rest assured"
"I will ensure that those guns will not fire," Lena nodded. "Do not worry about it"
The Sakura battleship nodded as Hood and Wales walked over.
"Are you sure you don't want us go in with you all?" Hood asked the girl.
"Sir, the Feds knew about you from your outburst last time," Lena told her. "They made your face known to all, and they will know the jig is up if they see you with us"
Hood covered her face in shame as her last action on the Feds hampered the operation.
"In fact, you have a very big job," Lena told the lady. "You will have to clear the minefield with the cluster shells I gave to you two"
"Anti-tank mines?" Wales inquired. "That is going to hurt"
They might be kansens who were impervious to small arms and explosives, but based on the mines used on the continent, it was going to hurt even them.
"I can take down their heavy wepaons but the other weapons like anti-tank rifles and rocket launchers and all kinds of heavy machine guns are still going to fill the sea," Lena informed them. "The moment the signal is given, they will rush into positions"
"I will try to draw them to me as much as I can," Lexington walked over after talking with the Commander. "We will try to keep them busy"
"Come back, alright," Hood said to Lena.
"I will", She replied and walked across the plank from Hood's ship.
"Don't worry, Hood," Lady Lex noticed Hood's anxiety as the girl walked to her ship. "I won't let her get hurt."
Lady Lex's words brought some reassurance to the lady.
"Lexington Idol and Entertainment group at your service," Lexington said with a bow of her head to the Commander of the Hail Mary regiment, Noele.
Noele looked at the so-called maids, some mechanics and idols of the Lexington Idol and Entertainment group. Her soldiers held them all at gunpoint under the watchful eyes of the heavy guns behind her, and the countless small arms pointed at them. Her soldiers were going through their things on the two ships docked, and so far, nothing strange had come up.
"All clean," They told her.
"All right," Noele reached for something in her pocket and threw it into Lexington. "Here is your payment, and get ready for the concert"
Lady Lex took a peek inside and saw several gold coins. "Let's go,"
The soldiers helped themselves with the crates filled with Oxy-Cola and bottles of alcohol. They walked on Lexington and Saratoga's ships, as if they owned them, and ransacked the two ships, as Belfast and the others removed the drinks, concert gear and instruments from the ships. The soldiers guided them through the minefields, past the ditches and razor-sharp wires, into the island.
"Here we go!!!"
"Alcohol and drink for everybody!!!"
It did not take long for the whole unit to begin taking the bottles and cans from the boxes and crates. Belfast led the maids inside and looked at her surroundings. It was like what Kurena's recon said, these people had turned this island into a fortress. There were so many fortifications that she wondered how they built them so fast. Lena, who was behind her, tapped her.
"Look"
Belfast followed Lena's gaze. There were over a dozen of old looking tractors, and bulldozers sat in a line along with shovels and other digging gear. The island used to be planned as a sort of defensive island before the Sirens overran it early in the war. The Sakura Empire vacated the island but not the gear they left behind, which were somehow still in working condition.
But the most obvious reasons were the massive Vánagandrs sat alongside them. Eight-legged tank of the Federacy that the Spearhead spoke about. Over 6.5 meters long and 2.9 meters high, these tanks were nowhere near as terrifying as Dinosauria or Löwe, but the 120 mm guns were still a deadly threat. Belfast signalled to her fellow maids to hand out drinks faster to the soldiers as they began to trickle in.
Shin, Raiden, Theo and some kansens were setting up the stage.
"We found their leader," Belfast looked at Noele. "But not the nuke yet"
"Those are Liberty ships, alright," Lena looked at the six cargo ships beached at rocks in the distance. "They already destroyed their own ships"
Belfast looked at the ships sunk deep into the rocks farther away from the beach.
"They are here to stay," The headmaid looked on as the soldiers began to throw meat into several massive grills, and the smell of seasoned fried meat filled the air. The alcohol and Oxy-Cola poured down throats like water as the soldiers began to get drunk.
The stage set up was over as the song and lights filled the air. Lady Lex gave Lena a wink before she threw a concert with micorphone.
"Let's go,"
Lena nodded as she and others walked away from the scene slowly.
"We found the guns," Sheffield pointed at the hills above, overlooking the barbour. "We saw some camouflage nets up there, and a lot of guys walked down from there"
Belfast, Lena, Annette, Kurena, Anju, and the maids looked at the long lines of soldiers walking down from the hill. Lena looked at the beach and the hill, looking to see if Sheffield's observation is correct.
"Yeah, they are definitely up there," Lena said, giving Sheffield a thumbs-up. "If it were me, I would put them up there too"
The light cruiser cracked a small smile at the compliment.
BOOM!!BOOM!!!
"Get drunk, everybody!!!!"
The hill above lit up with fire, followed by loud shouts from above their heads.
"Yep, they are up there alright," Newcastle remarked at the sound of the guns.
"Look!!!" Kurena pointed at the Vánagandrs moving away deeper into the island. "They must be going back to their repair station!!!"
"Shit!!!" Edinburg muttered. "They found us?!!!"
"Not yet," Anju looked at them. "They just went back to park the tanks from the look of it"
"Hey!!!" Lena said, and all looked at her. "Let's spike the guns now that the gunners seem to all walked down!!! Then we get the tanks!!!"
Lena's words riled them back to the missions at hand. Belfast led the way as they moved through the bush carefully, as they crept closer and closer to the hill.
"Where are the guards?"
The question came up as they looked at the guns under the nets in trenches that dotted the hills. Newcastle took a closer look and gestured the rest to follow her.
"Are you serious?!!!"
Not a single soul was guarding the guns, not one at all. Empty shell cases filled the dirt ground.
"This makes it easier for us," Lena entered the gun positions after Newcastle. "Let spike the guns and get out of here before they know what is going on!!!"
Annette, Kurena, Anju, and the maids rushed in to do their thing.
"How are we going to disable the guns without setting them off?" Curacoa looked at the massive gun in front of her. "If we use explosives, it will warn the others"
The gun was too big for a normal 155 mm howitzer, as she saw. This was a continent-style gun that packed a lot more firepower than expected. The shells were bigger as well.
"Leave that to us," Kurena said as she got under the gun and pulled out something from it. "These guns will be useless without a firing pin"
The girl pulled out a metal rod from under it. The other girls did the same, pulling out one metal rod after another.
"That's 12 guns disabled," Lena said as she looked at the guns and the boxes behind them. "Damn, the ammo was also low"
They left the hill just as the gunners walked back to the guns and enjoyed their alcohol there as if nothing happened.
Hood looked nervous as she looked at her watch. It had been an hour, and so far, no contact had come back yet. Then Hood heard a sound of a bird crying, and she looked up.
Grim flew down with all haste as Yorktown lay out her arms. The Sakura Empire kansens began to arrive as time flew by.
"Honestly," Kongou said, standing beside Hood. "They took us by surprise"
"I mean," Hood looked at the Japanese battlecruiser and sighed. "Who would have thought someone would come in like that?"
The act in and of itself was unthinkable and outright insane.
The Commander rushed back up on the deck of Yokrtown's ship as Yorktown read the letter Grim brought. Mikasa, Kongou and her sisters were the Sakura heavy ships alongside Shoukaku and Zuikaku; the rest were a mix of destroyers and light cruisers. 50 kansens to take on over 1,000 heavily armed soldiers. Hood, Yorktown, Wales, Repulse, and Renown were the only non-Sakura heavy ships present alongside them as well.
They were still a good distance out of the island's sight to avoid detection. Hiei, Haruna and Kirishima stood in line with their katanas at the ready. Mikasa spoke something to them to pre[are fore the mission ahead.
"There was not enough alcohol to get them all drunk," Yorktown spoke. "Only half of them get drunk"
The numbers lowered to half their original size, but still outnumbered them by 10 to 1.
"All the heavy weapons are spiked and the nuke secured," The Fighting Lady spoke, relief in her voice. "AA guns out of action.Ready for the next phase"
"All going to plan," Yorktown gave the letter to the Commander, who had a huge smile on his face.
"Around 1,000 soldiers with around 24 Vánagandrs. The artillery had little ammo left," He looked up, the complete victory came up in his head. "Even if they fixed the guns, they won't shoot at us for long"
The heaviest weapons were out of action, and the way was open for the attack. Half of them would not join the defense and the nuke was safely secured.
"Begin phase 2"
Ayanami, Z23, Javelin, and Laffey jumped off from the ship's deck as their ships turned into blue cubes and into their rigging forms. The Kansens all got back to their ships as the engines roared to life.
"Hood and Wales," The Commander spoke through the radio. "Go ahead and clear the minefield, we will be right behind you!!!"
The two sped up ahead of everyone else after the man gave them his command.
Hood looked at her watch on her wrist. Lena said that in 20 minutes, Lexington and her idols will begin their last act. She had to be there in 15 minutes. She pushed her ship's engines to the limit even as pain gripped her heart and body.
"Please, my engines," The battlecruiser looked ahead, pleading to her ageing engines. "Don't fail me now"
The thought of the price of failure kept her going; the pain kept coming as she pushed herself hard. Lena entrusted her with the job and gave her a specially designed cluster bomb for the mission in a few days. Just like her, the girl pushed herself to get things ready, and she just got to sleep yesterday. Lena's old bosses on the continent pressed her hard and gave her direct orders to do.
Holland did his best not add pressure, but he had no choice, so he did the unthinkable. He promoted Lena to Hood's acting captain for the operation. Such a decision would gather crtisims but given the dire issue of the nuke and the incursion, he did it out of impulse after orders from the top on such short notice.
The stake was high, a nuke right in the middle of the Pacific. A working nuclear bomb that so many factions had been working to get came onto their doorsteps. A bomb that would put factions at odds once more if the Legion gunboat was any indication.A bomb that anyone with ambition would stop at nothing to get.
It was the same old story that led to the formation of Crimson Axis and the civil war: disagreement about the power of Siren technology and the Legion gunboat that led to the breakup of Crimson Axis. The power that turned friends into enemies. The day that Bismarck almost killed her still left her heart and soul hurt from time to time.
"We are nearly there!!!" Wales shouted as the island finally came into view, knocking Hood out of her thoughts. The island came into view, and Hood readied her guns as well as Wales.
Hood looked at her wristwatch. "Just on time"
The lady looked back as the force was right behind her.
"In two minutes," Lena looked at the ships at the edge of the horizon, coming closer and closer with each passing second. "The assault will begin"
The soldiers of the Hail Mary regiment were still unaware of the attack, as many were out drinking and enjoying the food and the concert. Lena, Annette, Kurena and Anju were on a hill with Ayanami, Z23, Javelin, and Laffey behind them, looking down at the guns at another hill and the concert.
The lookouts at the trenches were too busy looking at the concert to notice the ships getting closer and closer. The night became full, and its light reflected on the ships.
"All right, who is ready for an explosive song tonight!!!!"
Lexington's words signalled that she was ready. Lena looked at Lady Lex as she and her idols formed a line. Lena looked at her watch and then. Fireworks lit up the stage as smoke covered it with colourful sparks of light.
Lena could imagine their horrors when the smoke flew up, revealing Lexington, and her idols got into their riggings.
"Hello, boys and girls, please lay down your weapons"
Lady Lex pulled the trigger of her flintlock musket. A round came out and slammed into one of the massive speakers behind the soldiers. The speaker exploded into smoke, spreading confusion and disorder as other kansens did the same. Then a roar shook the air as the beach turned itself upside down with fire and black smoke.
Lena looked at the source. Hood and Wales unleashed their guns loaded with cluster bombs for clearing the mines. She looked at the beach, which became a moon crater with holes several meters deep, dotted with sand. All the anti-tank ditches, the obstacles and barbwireswere out of the way, blowing up along with the mines.
"The beach is clear!!!" Lena shouted through her earpiece. "The way is open!!!"
"All kansens!!!!" The Commander said the words he had in his head. "Charge!!!!"
The Kansens got into rigging forms except for Yorktown. Blue cubes filled the air as the ships disappeared from the water, and steel with gun turrets came at their back. The lookouts could not believe their eyes but sounded the alarm. The gunners of the howitzers rushed the AA guns and howitzers and loaded the rounds; only silence reigned. The pilots got to their tanks, and they froze idle like statues.
"Shoot those damn robots to pieces!!!!!"
The gunners set up many MG positions at the beach, and those at the bunkers unleashed a hail of 12.7 mm tracer rounds at the Kansens coming through the water. Flares lit up the night into day as the sound of gunfire replaced the silence of the night.
Kongou and her sisters took the lead as the hail of bullets slammed into them. The bullets ricocheted off their armour skin and simply fell into the ocean below. The gunners did not stop and kept firing the heavy machine guns.
The anti-tank gunners grabbed their 20 mm anti-tank guns and shot a hail of anti-tank rounds at them. Had it been the destroyers or light cruisers, they would have fallen, but Kongou and her sisters pressed on. The anti-tank round slammed into them, causing pain. Yet they pressed on, fury and anger in their eyes.
Lena looked at them. "I will need to apologise to them after this"
"I will say no need for that," Ayanami said as her seniors reached the beach. A lot of soldiers jumped from the positions with bayonets fixed and charged into the kansens. Haruna slammed into a huge group of them and broke them apart. She cut their guns and bayonets into scrap with one slash of her katana. "Haruna is having a time of her life"
"Holy hell," Anju looked on as Kirishima threw a soldier into a large group like a bowling ball. She then proceeded to knock out many soldiers who dared to stand in her way with her barehands. Hiei used her sheathed katana to clear away for Mikasa as she announced.
"If any of you still want to live!!!" She shouted. "Lay down your arms, NOW!!!"
Those on the beach did as she ordered, throwing the guns at their feet and laying their knees on the ground with their hands behind their backs. However, many still refused to give in.
"Oh shit!!!" Kurena looked at the soldiers at the trenches on the hill that blocked the way up from the beach. "They are throwing satchels!!!"
The soldiers in the trenches threw massive bags into the kansens. The Kansens made it past the beach to the trenches. Explosions erupted, throwing the fire and smoke into the air. Wales jumped into the trenches with Hood right behind her.
The soldiers stood frozen as the two slammed into the ranks. Wales used her sword to stab many in the legs. The lady at her side grabbed a satchel and threw it into a stack of the same explosive devices behind them. A massive explosion erupted. The Kansens and the soldiers engaged in point-blank rifle fire and melee in the trenches.
"Lena!!!" Hood shouted through her earpiece as she punched one of the soldiers. "Can you deal with the stragglers?!!!"
The girl looked at the fleeing soldiers running deeper into the island with fear in their eyes, hoping to find refuge from the seemingly invincible kansens whose skin was thick like tank armour.
"Copy"
Then Hood felt something hit her stomach, and she looked down. A soldier charged into her with a bayonet, and it broke into pieces. The lady offered the soldier a smile before slamming her hand into his neck.
BAM!!!
"Stay down"
She, along with others, went back to do their things.
