Summary
For all the downs and low dumps Nico had gone through in his miserable life, ending up at a strip club might have been one of the lowest. Yet the lowest of all was finding the strength to get out of a situation that made him feel worthless.
It had taken an elbow to the gut and one person jumping at the chance to defend whatever shred of honor he had left for him to realize he needed the courage to wreck shit up, even if it meant breaking himself open in the process. And somehow, he had started it by wrecking things with the one person who had stood their ground for him, the one who had seen something in him worth defending.
How could he let this memory go when it had shaped who he grew into, carved a strength into him he still carried? How could he let Lewis go without wanting to see who he could grow into alongside him, without wondering what kind of man he might become if he chose to stay?
