Lessons in Metal

Chapter 2: Tani's Info Page

Notes:

I did it.

Holy hell, I did it.

Is it good? No. I had to use bases for probably over half of their design and the art looks terrible. But I still did it.

If anyone wants to draw Tani, then feel free to do so. Just don't claim them as your character is all I ask you to do. But anyway, without further ado... here's Tani!

Chapter Text

Name: Tani (taw-nee)

Gender: Nonbinary (They/Them)

Sexuality: Bisexual

Age: 11

Height: 2'11 w/boots (2'9 without)

Powesr: Ferrokinesis and Enhanced Hearing

Tani can move and control metal material with their mind. This is limited however. They can't bend it or change its shape, and they can't create metal out of thin air, which leads them to call it "Silver's psychokinesis but limited to only metal." They mainly use this to control their throwing knives, launching them into opponents. They also have enhanced hearing due to their bigger ears, being able to hear things that most people can't (like Rouge).

Personality:

Coming from destroyed future from destroyed future, Tani over time has grown to be cautious, distrusting, and a strong individual. Though they tend to keep to themselves and don't trust easy. Pretty much the only person that they fully trust is Silver. Actually... scratch that- Silver is the only person Tani fully trusts. Ever since he took them in and became the first person to treat them like, well... a person, Tani has become insanely overprotective of him, not hesitating to threaten anyone or anything that risks putting Silver in danger. Tani can be extremely blunt and sarcastic as well as nonchalant when it comes to fights and injuries, being used to brushing them off most of the time instead of literally anything else.

Since deciding to stay in the past however, Tani has definitely mellowed out from the aggressive and mindlessly violent fox they used to be. Sure, they still can be aggressive and violent from time to time, but now it tends to be whenever Silver or anyone that they can tolerate is in active danger. They still don't trust others easily though. That's a habit that'll take more than motivational talks to go away. Tani is however beginning to trust people like the Chaotix (minus Charmy) and Shadow. The road to healing isn't easy, though Tani knows that if they put in the effort to improve, they'll see more progress.

Random Facts:

- Tani used to not wear any clothes like most Sonic boys but started to wear clothes after feeling weird in the past seeing so many Mobians with clothes.

- They're terrified of being sick. Not germs, just being sick. None of the futures ever really had proper ways to treat sickness, so it was either you lived or you didn't.

- Their leg scars are supposed to be burns, but I don't know how to draw those, so I drew something random. So... yeah... author has terrible art skills.

- Due to Tani's enhanced hearing, they hate loud noises, loud events, loud people... just loud things in general.

- They sometimes get jealous of Silver's relationship with Espio, mainly because they know that they could never get that close to anyone.

- They're fine with talking about their other three scars but refuse to talk about the one on their face.

- Once they got into a fight with Omega. They had fun making the bullets stop midair.

- Rumors say that Big got them to genuinely laugh when not around Silver, but Tani's yet to confirm or deny anything.

- If it wasn't obvious, Tani doesn't like kids, especially Charmy.

Notes:

Hi there random stranger that read this!

I understand that in this fic, I didn't do much to describe what Tani looks like, and that is something that I do regret. But never fear- I've taken it upon myself to try and draw what they look like as we speak... when I can't draw...

That being said, if you're here from the Pokémon fic I deleted, I'm sorry for not keeping my promise and keeping to a consistent update schedule. I think I severely underestimated A) how much dedication a multichapter fic takes to write, and B) how much motivation I had to do it. That combined with late December and early January being two different spectrums of pains to deal with made it hard to keep up with my non-realistic expectations. I also have since kind of fallen out of Pokémon at the moment in favor for writing mini blurbs about my Sonic AU. Is that a bit childish of me to have? Yeah, but I'm of the belief that no matter how childish something is, if it's not problematic, then I can do what I want to with my life.

Anyways, now that I'm done rambling, here's hoping that I can hopefully draw Tani with my nonexistent drawing skills and that posting small oneshots for now will get me ready to post multichapter content.
