Summary:

“Jeongie… you can’t…” Sangwon whispered, the book now discarded next to his pillows.

There was doubt in his eyes. He knew Leejeong would never consciously bite him, but there was no guarantee he wouldn’t lose control eventually.

“But Sangwon, I want to… so, so bad…”

Work Text:

“Sangwon-ah, I am hungry.”

Leejeong’s voice sounded from his bed across their fairly spacious dorm room.

It was only early in the night, but the vampire was already wide awake, sitting up on the edge of his bed, leg restlessly shaking as he eyed his roommate on the other side of the room.

The witch was reading, as he was more often than not, a book about his studies, sitting on his bed, back leaning against the wall and not even looking up from the pages when replying.

“Do you want to go to the cafeteria? I am sure they can give you a snack, even before midnight.”

Leejeong sighed at Sangwon’s literal approach, craving more of the older’s attention. His clumsy attempts at throwing hints at Sangwon never worked well. It seemed like he would have to be a little bit bolder then.

He pushed himself up, took a few steps across the room and stood in front of Sangwon’s bed.

Unlike his own half of the room, mostly kept in dark colors with very little decoration, the witch’s half was covered in books, a few plants and ingredients used in potionmaking.

“Sangwon-ah, you smell really good.”

Sangwon immediately saw through the lie, but at least Leejeong’s statement, combined with the sudden shift in the vampire’s aura made Sangwon look up from his book and hold his gaze.

The smell of bitter herbs from today’s potions lesson was sticking to his hair and skin, and he was sure Leejeong didn’t necessarily like it. Vampires had a pretty good sense of smell after all.

Leejeong watched Sangwon look him up and down, just standing in front of the other, awkward and waiting for him to say something that would imply Leejeong could continue.

No words were spoken, but Sangwon shifted a bit on the bed, offering his roommate the space next to him. He seemed a little wary about it, which made Leejeong hesitate before lying down next to him, leaning into his side.

The smell of herbs was indeed uncomfortable, but as long as he was close to the witch, he didn’t mind.

Leejeong was one of the few vampires who liked cuddling with humans, unbothered by the heat radiating from them or the pounding of their hearts his enhanced hearing could easily pick up.

He actually really liked listening to Sangwon’s heartbeat, how it changed rhythm during gym class or skipped a beat when the older got flustered by one of the many compliments he received on a daily basis, many of them from Leejeong.

As soon as Leejeong had settled down next to him, Sangwon turned the book towards him so he could see the pages better. They often read together and Leejeong really enjoyed it, but today it was hard to concentrate on the words.

His stomach was growling and Sangwon was right next to him, neck exposed by his loose pyjama shirt. If he wanted to, he could lean in just a few inches and sink his teeth right into the dip between Sangwon’s neck and shoulder.

And he wanted to. Badly.

Leejeong swallowed audibly and teared his eyes away from the exposed skin only to find Sangwon staring at him warily, as if able to read his thoughts.

Unlike popular belief, biting someone wasn’t a sexual thing. Its main purpose after all was to stave off a vampire’s hunger and unless you had some kind of food kink, it wasn’t the sexiest thing to do.

For someone as obsessed as Leejeong though, the mere thought of having a part of Sangwon inside him got him excited.

Leejeong bit his lip, trying to swallow down his desire, Sangwon’s eyes catching the glint of his canines.

Then he leaned in, his left hand coming up to hold Sangwon by the neck, gentle, but insistent. He pushed him down until his head hit the pillow and moved to hover over him.

Sangwon pinned underneath him, looking up at him with that helpless expression stirred something dangerous in a corner of Leejeong’s brain. The witch was born a human and would have no way to fend off a vampire like him.

“Please..” Leejeong whispered desperately, as he sank down to bury his face in the crook of Sangwon’s neck, hands wandering to hold onto the other’s wrists instead.

“It could kill me…”

As easy as loving Sangwon was, resisting the call of his sweet blood was considerably hard.

Though, Leejeong wouldn’t trade it for the world. Sangwon was worth fighting the hunger.

Sangwon’s breath hitched beautifully, as the vampire softly pressed his lips to his skin, right next to his carotid artery. He was scared of him and Leejeong could tell from the sound of his blood rushing through his veins, quickening his heartbeat.

One bite and it would be over.

“Jeongie…” Sangwon gasped, straining his neck and trying to lean away from Leejeong, who was now pressing gentle kisses all over his neck. The grasp he had on his wrists was everything but gentle though, holding the witch in place.

Something sinister was taking over his mind and Leejeong realized as much when his lips parted as if on instinct, latching onto Sangwon’s neck, sucking marks into his pale skin.

Sangwon writhed underneath him, his heart sounding like it was about to jump out of his chest, but the sounds escaping his throat had turned sweater, breathier, as if their source was pleasure instead of fear.

Leejeong could feel Sangwon trying to rip his hands out of his grasp and in a bout of mercy, he let go of them. He hadn’t expected Sangwon to immediately get a hold of his jaw and drag him in for a proper kiss.

His eyes widened. If his heart weren’t dead, it would be matching Sangwon's rapid pulse by now.

Sangwon didn’t hold back either, somehow taking control over the kiss, Leejeong too startled to react. He licked into his mouth, carefully letting his tongue glide over the vampire's canines.

He was curious what they would feel like digging into his skin, but the rational part of him knew it would kill him. His blood ran too thin.

Sangwon tasted like herbal tea, sugar and exhilaration.

Leejeong was first to pull away, immediately missing the sensation of Sangwon’s lips on his, but he couldn’t keep going, not without knowing.

“Why?”

The vampire’s eyes were wide as saucers, reflecting the pale moonlight creeping through the window. There was confusion, a hint of hurt and something else Sangwon didn’t recognize. It was uncomfortable to hold his gaze, so Sangwon turned his head, facing the wall instead.

Coming up with an answer was hard.

He wasn’t sure how he felt about Leejeong, but he was quite aware of how he felt about Sangwon. There was no way to miss his lovesick stares, even in a room full of people.

“It just felt right.”

“But you don’t like me like that, Won-ah.”

Yeah, he didn’t like Leejeong like that, did he? Every time the two of them were together, he felt warm and giddy, and Leejeong’s compliments always made him feel better than anyone else’s, but did he love him? Was he in love with Jun Leejeong?

“I think I do like you more than a friend, Jeongie… I just don’t know if it’s enough…”

Sangwon propped himself up on his elbows, his voice was somber and shaky, unsure of his own words. Leejeong backed away, keeping his distance.

It seemed like the more respectful thing to do.

“It’s okay Sangwon. You don’t have to be mine, but just let me be yours. You don’t have to love me, as long as you let me love you. I don’t need you to give me anything, being allowed close to you is already enough. I will wait until you know.”

The vampire’s commitment was touching and it sent a swarm of butterflies to Sangwon’s stomach.

“Then… okay, Jun Leejeong, be mine.”

Even if Sangwon wasn’t sure of his feelings, he wanted to understand why Leejeong was so committed to him. There was nothing special about him. Just an ordinary, human-born witch. But there had to be something there. Something that caught the vampire’s attention.

But not just that. There was something about Leejeong Sangwon couldn’t quite figure out yet and he was determined to do so. Why was this man so obsessed with him?
