Regulus Black’s disappointing quidditch career comes to an even more disappointing end when he sustains an injury in practice, grounding him for good. With a desire to stay close to the action, Regulus takes a job as a junior sports writer at the Daily Prophet. When the senior writer contracts Spattergroit, the Prophet’s sports editor has no choice but to offer Regulus the opportunity of a lifetime: follow the England National Team as it makes its first Quidditch World Cup run in over a century.
James Potter’s time is running out. Since he was a kid, he’s known that he would not only play quidditch, but he’d be on the team that finally got England back to the World Cup. At the age of twenty-five, he feels he’s already near the end of his career, and he only has one last shot to make his dream come true.
Another dream of James’? Getting his best friend’s brother to agree to give him a chance. Fortunately, Regulus is stuck with him, but only as long as James and his team keep winning.

There is something both thrilling and intimate about watching someone when they think no one is around, seeing how they behave in the vacuum of other people’s perception.
Regulus momentarily sheds his poise when he wrestles with the ancient lock, tote bags precariously balanced on his shoulders and neat curls just beginning to frizz and frazzle in the humidity. He mutters something James is too far away to hear, but it is most certainly a curse.
It’s oddly endearing.
